I would have to say Valvalis. Although I find none of the four fiends extremely hard, I think she is the only one that has actually killed me. I hate it when she goes into that damn tornado, plus I believe you have Cid, Rosa, and Yang in the party who I consider very weak except for Rosa's heal ability.

Yeah, I agree with Grugby.  None of them were really hard, but Valvalis always seemed to manage to piss me off at some point during the battle.

I went with Rubicant. Sure, Valvalis was harder in Zot, but still, later on in the Giant Rubicant always decimated me. So he wins.

I did Rubi

Milon is annoying, but isn't really hard.

Tellah + Lit 3 = Ownage of Cagnazzo

Valvalis was a pain, but I found that Rubi was still harder for me

i have to say Rubes.

Milon was annoying, but a just keep palom and porom alive and use Twin Magic

Cagnazzo, like Fadien said, just have Tellah zap the bastard with Bolt3

Valvallis, I never had a problem with. Just put some well-timed jumps from Kain and you're all set.

Rubes, however, was a real bitch. The Fire 2-Fire 3-Scorch combo is brutal

so Ruby gets my vote

I voted for Rubicant because he's a member here.

Valvalis, in the giant. Kept bringing my HP down to 1.

Rubes was pretty easy because of his weakness. A few Ice 3s did the trick. Same with Milon and Fire, and Cainazzo and Thunder. Valvalis had no weakness.

Valvalis was the hardest.

Her weakness is Holy so having cast Holy on her will do you alot of good. She'll die quicker before reducing hp to 1.

it was a hard tie between valvalis and rubicant.   valvalis wasn't super hard, just annoying.  Rubicant had some god awful spells that would just rip ya apart.  I think that constitutes more difficulty due to loss of hp and wat not, not just annoying fixable things.  but everyone seems to froget the little fact that undead are weak against any cure spells.  thats all i ever used on him and it did mass dmg.  never went fire

I voted Rubicant because even thought he's fair, he can really mess you up, tear you apart and burn your corpse into really tiny ashes if you don't have much experince playing RPGs...or really suck...

I voted for Valvalis because I was usually warn out by the time I got to the top of the tower.  The Magus Sisters took a lot of out me and it was tough because none of her weaknesses could be easily exploited.  She never did turn me to stone, though.  That aspect of her seemed pretty useless.

Surprisingly, Rubicant has never given me any trouble, probably because I always had ice-element weapons equipped that did major damage to him and somehow managed to get in a good spell now and then.  The fact that he restores you before the battle is a major plus as well.

I say Valvalis.

Scarmiglione was big, ugly and attacked from behind, but he was weak as my little finger. (See Kraken in FF1)

Cagnazzo was even easier - like many say above: LIT3 from Tellah, and the most powerful LIT from Porom and he's toast.

Rubicante was REALLY hard, especiall because (at least in the HardType) when he was covered by his cloak, he would absorb Ice and Water attacks as HP. I had to time him right, not to heal him.

And to Valvalis. First - she's a Lady. Second - the Maelstrom is way the nastiest spell that inflicts damage. Third - when spinning, her defense was enourmous. Fourth - Grrrrrrrrrrr... she's strong

i voted rubicant. why?
Consider my FF4 game like the Germans in WW2. going fine and dandy, with only a few minor hitches, then bang! here comes rubicant, er, stalingrad.
:( its cos im only at level 30, and havent played it that often since november 2002. blame the internet for that!

Valvalis pissed me off the most often (being that up until this thread, I was unaware of the Holy thing).  Although Ruby did take a lot longer to kill, there was never a point where I didn't think I'd make it, especially in the Giant.

Scarmiglion/Milon(Z)
My first time around, I could not beat him. I could not cure the poison fast enough, and ran out of Heals every time. I do not know why. I didn't level up during that frustration, either. Every subsequent time playing, I'm generally around the same level as the first time, and I plow straight through him.

It's funny that I keep following Kane's Topic Necromancing around, and we're both in California.

Anywhooo. They all gave me some trouble, but Valvalis gave me the most, and she was just plain cool. For some reason I'd always assumed that I would be a real minority to be a Valvalis-fan. Huh.

Valvalis. Why?

Milon of Earth. Oooh, ahhhh, undead boss... sorry, but I'd played a lot of games by now and I NEVER liked the undead bosses, as enemies fine, but as bosses they're always so.... easy.
Cagnazzo of Water. Not a bad battle but... look at him. There's just something so.. Kraken about him. They BOTH look like idiots. =P
Rubicant of Fire. As a character he was great. The whole evil but nobal demon thing though not new, was still great. But he wasn't great in battle, I didn't like how he looked and his speal skill wasn't all that.
Valvalis of Wind. Not just evil, not just the master of the Magus Sisters, but she also looked great! Her special tech was also better than Rubicant's.

The only time I really had trouble with any of the fiends was the first time I played through the game. The fight with Milon before becoming a paladin wasted me a couple of times. Then again I was only 11 years old when I first played the game.

Rubicant because whenever he had his cloak on, i would accidently cast shiva, Ice3 and other such spells that would eventually heal him.
