Any two weapons, offering+genji glove, and high speed. You'll beat him anywhere from 25 to 75% of the time depending on your speed, maybe more. Unless your character fails to attack.
It can be done relatively easily, Tonepoet. The thing is, the above won't work at a low level. ![]() And that's right, I forgot Vanish won't end up being cast on an enemy in the colloseum. My bad, thanks for clearing that up. ![]() -------------------- "Judge not a man by his thoughts and words, but by the quality and quantity of liquor in his possession and the likelyhood of him sharing." |

Quote (Silverlance @ 17th November 2004 17:41) Vanish-Doom? Wouldn't a lot of luck, a gem box, a few fight with cactuars to learn ONLY these two spells (and whatever else comes with their espers..), and maybe an economizer do the trick? If he attacks, which I think he does sometimes, a high enough MDef% could probably block it and with enough luck you could get the two spells off in the right order on the next turn before Chupon gets off a sneeze attack. Just a thought... Just some observations. 1) Gembox, Vanish, Doom and an Economizer are NOT available to a L3 character. 2) I don't know why people keep talking about L1 characters. There aren't any in the game. L3 is the lowest character level you can get. 3) Mog can never be lower than L9. Im pretty sure that the average party level min, when Mog appears is L4. L4 + 5 (for game entry level modifier)=9 Which leads to the next question. 4) Are we talking about the theoretical lowest level to beat Chupon in the Colosseum, ie L3 or are we talking about the lowest level that one can be when first getting to the Colosseum, or assuming that the first two phrasings are impossible, are we talking about the lowest level (ie. a level greater than their true lowest level in the game) that one can statistically do damage to and/or kill Chupon? I have a couple ideas. Need more of my guides with me here at work to do all the math tho. This post has been edited by Detah on 18th November 2004 15:57 |

Yes, level 1 is impossible. What we're discussing here is more or less a Low Level Game strategy taken over the top in a theoretical fight.
Even the theoretical level 3 can't be reached as Celes auto-upgrades one level when entering the WoR. Taken in accoun Experience you can't avoid and subsequent level averaging...a recent Low Level Game Guide tells me the lowest level at that time is a level 7 Celes. The theoretical lowest is kind of sketchy, as you'll have to modify the game to do it. Might as well modify it in such a way that Terra starts at level 1, right? Like said before, it's a theoretical question. The usual strategy (Offering + GG and/or Stunner) is not going to work as the damage won't be severe enough to even come remotely close before he will use Sneeze. I know MY strategy works on a hypothetical level 1, and that's taken MP is consideration if it must be. I'm interested to see what you have to say on the subject ![]() -------------------- |

Uh...
Gembox, economizers, Vanish/Doom, and the likes are not available to a low-level character? 1- My first low-level run through the game had me finishing it with a part of level 8 characters. In fact some were a little lower, but the point remains. All side quests had been completed, my party was maxed out on spells (cactuar ![]() 2- Nothing's stopping your other characters from gaining levels and gathering the necessary items. Just felt like clearing that up, because it was kinda bothering me. ![]() Unless you meant that using those in a low-level game were considered cheating, which seems to be the conscent among GameFAQ FAQs and board members... -------------------- "Judge not a man by his thoughts and words, but by the quality and quantity of liquor in his possession and the likelyhood of him sharing." |

Quote (Silverlance @ 18th November 2004 11:24) Uh... Gembox, economizers, Vanish/Doom, and the likes are not available to a low-level character? I never said anything about a low level character. I explicitly stated that GemBox, Vanish, Doom and Economizers are not available to a _L3_ character. That is a fact. Your reading skills are poor. I hate repeating myself. |

Short of editing the game, it's impossible to arrive at the colloseum without...
A- Having access to the areas that contain the aforementionned items. B- Being of low-level, as opposed to 3. C- Not having at least one character which can safely be levelled up enough to go retreive these items for the (theoretical Lv 3) character in question even if you can't do it at that low a level. -------------------- "Judge not a man by his thoughts and words, but by the quality and quantity of liquor in his possession and the likelyhood of him sharing." |

I never heard a solution for this and I was curious.

Gogo, Wall Ring, Merit Award: Illumina, Pally Shld, Bard's Hat, Force Armor. That's 130 M.Block from equipment alone.
Slap three Magic commands on him, and put him in a party with a character that only knows three spells: Vanish, Bserk and Demi. Enter Gogo. First choice: 60 % chance he'll go for a Magic spell, so a 20 % chance he goes for Bserk. It bounces from Gogo's Wall Ring onto Chupon, who stops using Sneeze. Battle never connects; instant victory. At least, that's what I think I had figured out, I kinda forgot. -------------------- |

Usually I just lurk, but I couldn't let this go:
Dji, I just tested this, and Gogo never picked Magic as his command. NEVER, ever, ever. So then I looked into it with Geiger's SNES9x, and sure enough, Gogo doesn't bring those magic commands into the battle (you actually have to know them yourself, apparently, which makes sense since he's in this battle alone). -------------------- Food is like magic in my ears. - Djibriel Ogopogo lives. |

So Gogo can't use Magic in the Colosseum, period? That's new.

The way i did it was to equip celes with the genji glove and the offering then use the atma weapon and the illumina it killed him pretty quick.
But it's been so long i forgot the damage she did and what level she was at. ![]() Still i guess its not all that impressive. -------------------- "You know that feeling you get when you're on a merry go 'round, and you want to jump off to make the spinning stop, but you know it'll suck when you land? Djibriel: Apparently not. I have yet to see it in any battles with Gogo in the Colosseum. You might want to make sure you mention that in your next guide update.

Hmmm...I remember that I defeated Chupon just using Atma Weapon and Scimitar, Genji Glove and Offering. Every hit of Atma was 9999, and every hit of Scimitar was 2300-2500 damage, I was at level 99 and Chupon didn't use Sneeze and I gave the first attack with Celes. If he doesn't Sneeze at the beggining of the fight, you can win. Oh...my Celes got 90 points or so of Vigor.
