We're looking for a few trustworthy people to help us out temporarily with some data entry. This is not a staff position, and it's not going to get you lots of recognition or special privleges. But if you have a few minutes, and want to help us out, we're ready to hear from you.

The task is data entry. It's pretty easy, really. All it involves doing is typing information that you will read from a web page into a text file, saving it, and emailing it to me. You need to be responsible enough of a person to do the work on time; you need to be trustworthy enough to do the work accurately enough that we don't need to double- and triple-check you; and you need to be willing to do the tasks in the manner we prescribe.

Well since I'm job hunting I have plenty of time available. I was in charge of the documentation for a fan project once. Let me know if you still need any help. We as members take up costly CoN bandwidth and in doing so should be ready to contribute and/or give money.

Don't worry Sabin, it's not all that hard to do. I'll give you a sample of the sort of thing you'd have to write up.

It's usually strings of words like that, that Josh then plugs into the database. This is the ff5 stores that I'm working on. The £ is there to seperate entries. :-) It might not look exactly like that, but I just wanted to show that it's relatively simple stuff, once you get the intructions.

I should point out that the data entry we need is exactly what Elena posted. You don't need to know HTML or PHP, you don't need to know how to create graphics; you just have to type accurately. All you need is a web browser and Notepad.

I can help on week-ends only(i go to college and I have a lot of homeworks). I know html, a little of xml, the basic of C, but since we don't need that, heu... I can help

I only know html, and just a tiny bit. But seeing as we don't need any skills, Iwould gladly try and help in any way possible. I'll even proofread if needed. Just tell me what to do and when. I can probably do it any day, but not always.

I would say "yes" to the data entry thing, but I'm already a staff member on another site. Perhaps I could just be another moderator? At the very least it would give me a good excuse to be a lot more active here than I currently am.

You do realize, Levi, that the question was asked in January of 2004, right?

No worries. I should really unsticky this thread until we DO need help again.

Generally our moderators come from existing staff, which you become by being here and being helpful with other tasks for a while; of course, we only add mods when needed.

Generally when we go shopping for temporary help, it's only for data entry. And we don't even really have any right now since we're not developing new content right now. Thanks for the offer, though!

Anytime, I like being a moderator, makes me feel all important like. Plsu I think I do a good job of it, people tend to like me less when I am one, because I am extremely no-nonsense when it comes to rule enforcement. Thanks for the reply!
