I'm having a similair topic running on GameFAQs, but knowing how that site and CoN are like France and something entirely non-French, I thought to put one here as well.
I'm writing a Rage FAQ. To make sure I cover all bases I hereby make a thread in which I will answer all questions that handle Rage, Leap, the Veldt, Gau or anything else remotely Rage-related. Edit: Don't post questions that need extensive pieces of text to cover properly, as I would have to resort to C/P from the Rage FAQ as it is now and I don't want to do that yet I'll answer them here for you. I'm hoping I'll meet some questions here I hadn't thought of yet, or even some I don't have an answer for (right away, that is, as I won't let it unanswered for long). Ask away. I'll give you a question:
Q: If you encounter an enemy, and run away from it, can you still get it in the Veldt? ( Seeing that you've never killed that enemy) |

Which rages does Gau automatically start with?
Does Gau get the rages for the enemies in the battle that he first joins you (with the cut scene and all)? |

I posted this one in the FAQ for this site:
I am trying to get a certain rage on the Veldt, but it is taking soooo long? Are the encounters random or can I make the game work for me? -------------------- "Look at me! I'm a receptionist! G'fa ha ha!" Quote Ultros |

Gau leapt, and then I fought many monsters. But I only got a few new rages when he came back! Why?
The reason of course is that Gau only gets rages from the battle he leapt and the battle he returned to, or something like that. Might want to rephrase both question and answer because my English isn't the greatest today. -------------------- Lou: There's a couple of guys fighting down at the aquarium, Chief. Wiggum: Do they still sell those frozen bananas? Lou: I think so. Wiggum: Let's roll. |

Q. Are there any Boss Rages?
Q. What are Powerful Rages? Q. Are there any Monsters I need to fight that I only have 1 chance at? (like that dog in that chest for Locke's Scenario) Q. Why should I bother collecting all the Rages? -------------------- Could you repeat that? |

i)arkShadow: Yes, it clears the battle formation. Had it not been for the Vanish-Doom bug, it would have been the only way of obtaining Intangir anyway.
Corundum: Brawler, Exocite, Hornet, Lobo, M-TekArmor, Rhinotaur, Trilobiter, Were-Rat and Whisper. Whether or not Gau receives the Rages of the monster formation he first appears in, I'm not entirely sure. I'm guessing he doesn't, but I should check. Good call SMB: The battles you are about to face are pre-determined. There are groups of eight monster formation, and you fight one out of every group. You can 'shuffle the deck', IOW re-randomize what monster formation you're about to get from a specific group by fighting a battle off the Veldt. Using the in-game Safe and Load Game options you can skip several of these groups. I believe the number is 16, but I should check. Jlombardi13: Correct. Green Magi: White Drgn, Marshal and SrBehemoth are the only boss Rages you'll ever see. And you should collect them because it makes you happy, I guess. Isn't that why you play a game? Your other two questions would need far too much explanation. I have the answer to both questions already typed down in the FAQ, so wait until then. I'd like to stress that this isn't really a 'post questions for the FAQ', but 'post questions about Rage because you don't know'. Of course I have a chapter dealing with how the Veldt works, what the odds of Gau returning are and what Rages he gets when. I hope you're all satisfied so far. This topic is helping already -------------------- |

There are some weird
names going around, such as Wind God Gau, Invincible Pottery, (whatever other power-rages there are) What are these? (I know 'em, but this'd be GREAT in an FAQ. And WGG = Gau + Merit Award + Tempest + Stray Cat.) -------------------- Uwao. aooh! I'm Gau! I'm your friend! Let's travel together! |

There are several, yes. They have been included so far. Small listing:
Wind God Gau: Exactly as you put it. Offering doesn't reduce the power of the Wind Slash attacks so you can basically do the same four times with that Relic. Gogo does a better Wind God, and is the only one to pull it off in Anthology as Gau can't equip the Merit Award there. Invincible Potters is something I haven't directly hear of, but I'm sure it refers to Magic Pot. The Rage will allow Gau to absorbs all elements, be immune to all status ailments and when combined with the Snow Muffler for super defense, will be quite unstoppable. -------------------- |

Do you know if the bugs retaining to Gau's missing Rages Allo Ver, Ziegfried and Chupon were fixed in the PS release (like the Sketch bugs were)?
I wonder this because (in the EU release at least) each character is given a % of learned skills at the end of the game, not having them would be a major oversight... -------------------- The Arcana are the means by which ALL is revealed. |

I don't personally own the Anthology version, but as fixing that bug would mean quite the change I'm sure I would have heard of it had it been the case.
No, you can rest assured that Square did nothing but fix nothing and only mess it up more. -------------------- |

FYI, you do not get the rages off the initial battle (I guess he isn't considered "recruited" until after that).

Hmmm, I should level Gau up to 99, teach him all magic, and get all other Rages and see if I still get 100% for him...

This may belong in a Bugs FAQ or something, but it's closely related, and I've always wondered.
If, when Gau returns from leaping a monster, in the breif period between his apearance and his diolouge, Relm casts sketch on him, will this cause a major bug? -------------------- TURKEY! - (The only way not to get blocked for using Fowl Language) |

Q. If gau leaps and then you put four people on your team and go fight does he really learn all those monster as rages?
Q. If pugs are in the games codeing i think its likes 256, then why cant you get them as a rage normally with out hacking? Q. Why do monster like proto armor apper on the veldet if gau cant rage them? Q. How are there herds of magiteck armors and sp forces i mean how could they? -------------------- Don't fear the reaper! Q. If gau leaps and then you put four people on your team and go fight does he really learn all those monster as rages?
No.Gau learns only the Rages of the monsters he uses Leap on and the monsters in the monster formation he returns in. No other. Q. If pugs are in the games codeing i think its likes 256, then why cant you get them as a rage normally with out hacking? Pugs would be the last monster to fit, but the game needs an empty space. Q. Why do monster like proto armor apper on the veldet if gau cant rage them? ProtoArmor and Pugs are the only monsters on the Veldt Gau cannot get a Rage from. Pugs was an oversight; ProtoArmor only appears next to Pipsqueak to give you another shot on the Pipsqueak Rage. The monster formation which holds two ProtoArmor monsters doesn't appear on the Veldt. Q. How are there herds of magiteck armors and sp forces i mean how could they? Goes right along with "Why are there no farms in this game?" and "Why are there only eight people in that village?" and has no place in a FAQ. -------------------- |

Quote (Lockes AlterEgo @ 30th October 2004 22:14) Q. How are there herds of magiteck armors and sp forces i mean how could they? They're 'getting back to nature' Okay sport, if you have Gau return but you scare him away with an outa' place attack, will you still learn the Rages that were in that set when you do manage to get him back? -------------------- The Arcana are the means by which ALL is revealed. |
