Board:

Monopoly, Chess and checkers. Used to play many more but these few select games kinda stick with me. In fact, I think I know all of the rules of monopoly by heart now. Here's a tip: Never buy the get out of Jail free card for more then fifty dollars. You can just buy your way out with that much cash. *Has tricked great a many a people with that one.*

Card:

Klondike, Freecell, Hearts 'n Spades and to a differing extent, Crazy Eights. Others are fun as well but these are the ones I like best. Especially Freecell and Klondike since they're Solitaire games that can be played all by myself.

Board games:
Stratego (another game that it pains me that no one has listed - think a combination between chess and capture the flag)...

I had Stratego listed, it's a classic. Your description for it is pretty apt, but there's also a degree of memory and deployment strategies that makes it yet funner.

For card games, I'm addicted to magic and warlord ( anyone else play this?)

For board games, I LOVE DnD and risk. Both are just amazing.
