Could someone tell me a little about the characters and story of FF6? I've never played this game either, and I want to know about it. blush.gif

Terra- She is like the main character of the story, she can use magic in the very beginning, and is an esper.
Locke- He's a thief. He likes treasure.
Edgar- He's the king of Figaro, and can use chainsaws and autocrossbows.
Sabin- He's Edgar's twin bro, and he can use some nice martial arts skills
Shadow- He's a ninja who can throw weapons to do a lot of damage.
Relm- She's Strago's granddaughter and she's very good at drawing and making her drawings come to life.
Strago- He's an old guy who uses blue magic.
Celes- She was part of the bad guys, "The Empire" or whatever its called, but she turned into a good guy. She has the ability to start off with magic too(everyone in the game will be able to use magic at some point)
Cyan- He is a samurai--like person who is very strong and hates Kefka.
Kefka- the ugly evil clown.
Mog- The Moogle.
Duncan- Sabin's teacher.
Vargas- Banon's son.
Gau- He's the wild kid of the Veldt, and can do some neat stuff.
That's all I'm gonna say about the characters, and now onto the storyline:

Well, there's these things called Espers, who the Empire wants to have because the Espers have magic ablities. The story begins as Terra being under control of the empire. She goes in MaGiTek Armor and blows stuff up in Narshe. And that's all I can say.

Sorry if this stuff doesn't make any sense, I'm in sorta of a rush here.

Just to elaborate a little on the plot, you're told in the very beginning about an apocalyptic event known as the 'War of the Magi' that happened one thousand years ago. The world was practically destroyed by it, and the Empire seems to be on its way to screwin' things up again, although the Emperor seems to be oblivious to that. Magic, a seemingly lost power that the Empire wants to revive, is a very important part of the plot as are the Espers (just to clarify, Espers are FF6's name for summons). Of course, there are a few unexpected twists and, well...I guess I shouldn't say anything more.

The characters are very in-depth (with the exception of a select few) and all have their personal stories addressed in addition to the overall plot (and then there are others you'll never find out unless you do a load of talking to certain NPCs). Also, there are plenty of scenes that are just plain emotional and the superb soundtrack definitely beats that point into your head. In the end it's most certainly a must-play game.

There's a lot more I could say, but I'll shut up for now.

Locke is a treasure hunter. he will rip your lungs out if you call him thief

Sabin's teacher is duncan, who looks like banon. banon is the leader of the returners.

Terra isn't really the main character of the story. she is just the starter of the story.

anyway any of this stuff can be found by playing the game. that's what I did - I didn't know about the game when I played it (good old zsnes!) so you can just pick it up from there. if you need info on how to use the characters, walkthroughs work wonders. any more explanation would spoil the game

That's just an assumption. Square has never actually articulated that.

Anyway, I agree with the "just play the game" camp. Either you'll like it or you won't.

I agree, and some of the characters are over powered while some are incredibly weak.

The summons in this game aren't like normal summons. You don't have a summoner character who calls any monster at will. You need to equip the summon, I know that sounds weird at first but you will get it.

I'm sorry, but that is highly biased. We've had the debate on that and it's really a personal preference. Choose which ever one you like. You can always go through the game again if you want to try the other item.

Please tell us how you liked or disliked the game when you've had the chance to play it! smile.gif

The most interesting thing of this game is that you don't really have a main character. Terra is just the starting point, but then you spend some time of the game without her ( you can even finish the game without having her available ). Then, you can put anyone as your team leader ( Locke, Edgar, etc.)
Then, Locke and Celes become "main characters". Then Celes becomes the only character and then you can have anyone as team leader ( even Gau )
This detail makes the game better, since it makes it more free

hmm i am not so sure she is the main charector i mean you dont need her to beat the game you only need stezer celes and edgar... i dont think the game really has a main charector cause you dont really have to keep one char on your team all the time like you do in just about every other one...

A main character is a person that is central to the protagonist efforts.
Possible spoilers: highlight to view
There are two, Terra and Celes. One for each world.

Wrapped because it's very easy to spoil to someone who hasn't played the game. Hint hint, Lockes AlterEgo.
