Do you like Mogs dances? And if you use them, do you use the terrain you're in or do you use your favorite terrain and stumble until then?
I have only really ever used his dances to see the cool things he can cast, never as a battle strategy. When his magic power is maxed out is he a beast? Nobody every pays attention to that little winged guy.... -------------------- "Look at me! I'm a receptionist! G'fa ha ha!" Quote Ultros |

Mog's dances are pretty cool, but I can't say I've ever really used them in a strategy. I honestly never use Mog, not even for the Moogle Charm. I usually get all of his dances, but once I try them out once, I put him aside and bring in my REAL party.
Edit I nulled my vote, since I'm not really sure if they're USEFUL or not. I just never use them. Mog is only used to get Umaro, in my run-throughs. This post has been edited by Caesar on 4th September 2004 16:33 -------------------- Is PJ |

I found Mog's dances rather useful. If I was just leveling up or something I'd generaly just use the dance for the terain I was on to make it a quick fight. For boss fights, I'd use the Wind... Whatever... I have a bad memory with these things, but I know that Mog would randomly cast Plasma, Wind Slash, and Sun Bath, which were all tremendously helpful. Generaly I don't like not being able to control my charecters, but Mog was the exception.

Does anyone know some kind of cool tricks with the dances? I never liked Gau until I found that Rhodox trick with the Intangir.
Like I said before, I never really use the dance unless its just for fun. That little womp rat kicks butt! And yes, I also forgot that I found Plasma very useful. I think Dance is too unpredictable to be consistantly effective, so I voted no. Quite often Mog's attacks do almost nothing, and the attacks that are effective are simply average or slightly above average in potency. In comparison with Gau you at least know he's going to do his powerful rage special 50% of the time while his regular attack is average or slightly below average. The only real perk with Dance comes from Wind Song's Sun Bath.

If you know what you're doing, have Mog properly tanked up and think randomness is bliss, then Dance is the pick for you. And yes, I belong to that catagory
![]() However, Dance looses most "powerful" sides in the WoR. See, the attacks can't be godly in the WoB, so even though they're strong there, they can be nothing but weak in the WoR. This goes without mentioning Land Slide, of course. That, and the fact you cannot control what is happening (curse that Sonic Boom on all those bosses) and Dance is hardly compatible with Quick (yeah, Quick, select dance, another move, that's it) makes Mog not your average Sabin/Shadow hybrid. But with Land Slide being stronger then Flare, having the best healing spell in the game, the strongest poison-elemental attack, the strongest water-elemental attack when talking multiple targets and quite a few other nice moves, Dance is hardly useless, especially when you know how little can really take down a proper Mog ![]() -------------------- |

I voted no. I find them too unpredictable for my liking, especially since pretty much the only moves in Mog's dance repertoire are the ones Djibriel mentioned. I found a number of other attacks and moves more reliable.

There really should have been some more dances that you could get only in the WoR which contained attacks comparable to the best from other characters late in the game. Some character abilities are flawed in FFVI and Dance is clearly one of those.

I voted yes because, well, I think they are. Mog's always one of my lower-leveled characters during normal playthroughs, so when I throw him into a party with three more weak characters in the final area, his dances can be lifesavers. I've also found them extremely useful during natural magic games where Water Rondo and Snowman Jazz are two of my best friends.

Okay, so people think they are useful. But who actually uses them? Besides when you have to in like The Cult Tower, or The Tower of kefka.

I've been playing through the RPGOne retranslation recently, so I've been trying to use characters that I haven't used much before. I took Mog through the Cave to the Sealed Gate and the Floating Continent, and found him to be extremely useful in both places. I'm only at the beginning of the WoR right now, so I don't know how much use Mog'll be once I recollect him, but he was remarkably strong in the WoB.

I found Mog very useful, especialy in Cyan's dream. Water Rondo probably was the reason I beat Wrexsoul. (Setzer kept blocking my attacks when I tried to remove Wrexsoul from him

I didn't find Mog very useful in either the WoB or the WoR. I've played the game over and over, and sadly, Mog or his dances aren't the best ever. As a character, I found Mog to be pretty average. NOt exceling in any one area, but rather equal in all. Then comes his dances. MOg's dances were one of the most useless skills in FF6. The only time they would have a good chance of working was if you were on the terrain they came from. If you didn't use them on their terrain, then MOg would usually stumble and have to try again. Then we get to the dance attacks. The only useful skill Ifound was snare. Otherwise, his dances didn't do much damage overall compared to other characters like Sabin and Shadow.

And of course, moogles are the coolest character race ever. ![]() The trick to the dances is that you have to collect all of them early on and use them im the proper places. They are almost always better in long fights, like bosses, because it often takes a couple turns to get him started. The Cave to the Sealed Gate for instance, is almost all uber-tough fire based critters, so if you have Water Rondo you can save alot of MP from having to cast Ice 2 all the time and just let Mog Aqua Rake the crap out of them. You just have to pick a dance that has proper elements for the area that your in, or the boss your fighting. It's rarely useful to do the dances in the places that they come from. I always like getting the WOB battle screens when the WOR had me all bummed out, but that's rather beside the point. Unfotunately, alot of the dances have useless (or nearly so) attacks that seem to pop up often. Effective use generaly means avoiding those ones and focusing on dances with alot of straight attack and healing abilities - like Wind Song. Personaly, I hate snare because I so rarely have it hit anything. I usualy go with the mountain dance for landslide instead. |

Mogs dances are useful if you use them right but there are some points in the game where there is no point at all in them. I like them because they can be really good and I just like mog... The big downside is if you pick the wrong one your screwed.

I thought they were especially the Wind Song, when your party is low on HP and you do that (which ususally works) you usually get the healing spell from the Wind Song. Saved my a$$ many times.

My fave. is Snowman Jass. I like the snowy background, and Mog's gotten very good at it, and rarely stumbles anymore. Mog is part of my main party, and he's also my main magic user, so I have to chose between dance and migic all the time. But ever sence I've got the gem box, magic's been winning out.

Mog's Dances is the reason I got to WoR. Without it, I could never beat the sky rocket thing. It also did alot of damage, and even healed your party.
