I've been busy working on a 'professional' watercolour painting, but in between drying times and time when I'm just kinda feeling uninspired (uh oh) I played around making fanart.
You know this is going to be good when I named it "Lenna" This other one was an odd compilation of several sources, and I'm not quite sure if it works. For what ever reason (maybe because I was getting lazy, and anime style is easier) I drew her with this cutesy anime face then put her in a tough girl pose (!?!). Her pirate jacket is oversized (80s shoulder pads from hell?) and her inseam is oddly long (heh, to put her codpiece). I completed the piece by throwing in some tattooes. Oh, and she's leaning upon an invisible pilar or whatever, I was too lazy to put it in. -------------------- kame, tortue, tortuga, schildkröte, tartaruga, turtle "Arthur Dent?" "Yes." "Arthur Philip Dent?" "Yes." "You're a total knee biter." |

I like the second drawing more than I do the first. Watercolor has never been a style of art I've liked, and yours lacks detail, as I imagine you meant it to. This, though, is the beauty of the art, in my eyes. Another good job, Kame.

I like them both. She looks a tad too cutesy in the face to me in the second one, but that's just 'cause I always thought she'd appear a bit more masculine. The first one...well, what can I say? You have quite a talent for watercoloring -- a kinda underrated style nowadays. Just the sparsely-detailed way in which you painted it makes it even more awesome!

Quote (Kame @ 15th November 2004 15:00) This other one was an odd compilation of several sources, and I'm not quite sure if it works. I don't think it's the cutesy anime face that makes the picture not fit as well as it should. She seems awfully thin for a pirate captain that can pass as a man. That's was really struck me as odd, she just looks too small for the role. The watercolor version, on the otherhand, doesn't suffer from the same issue. She fills out much better, perhaps the larger head & arms or smaller torso is the reason for that. The ink one is probably better, by technical merit. It's a shame that it doesn't really suit Faris' 'tough girl' image, as you said. All said, I really love the watercolor one. Like SilverFork said, it's an underrated style these days. -------------------- Visions of Peace - Four Generals, One Empire, and the Returners caught in the middle. |
