Once long ago I was playing FFVI on the SNES. It was a fairly old system and cartridge. I have no idea what happened, but I loaded my data one day to find that the colors had all inverted on all the character sprites (on the world map and in battle), my inventory had an unlimited number of Illumina swords, economizers, ribbons, etc, and any of my party members could equip any item they wanted to.
I was at the end of the WOR, just fooling around before I went to take on Kefka's tower. I'd been trhough the game several times, and knew exactly what I was doing... but I cant for the life of me think of anything unusual that might have occured to create this situation.
Anyway, I saved the data onto another file - just in case. Reloaded it from the original file and it was normal, loaded up the new data and everything was still screwy. I was just curious if anyone else had ever had anything this trange happen to them, or may know the cause of it?

Souunds like a sketch bug to me. You should check out this link, as Master ZED recently discovered how to control this bug.

If you don't get it with just what was said here, follow the link in ZED's signature to his White Sheet, I think you'll find what you'r searching for.

For the record, the same happened to me and my sister long ago with my cartridge, but at that time we didn't know if it was either relm, Gau or Strago that had started the bug, since it always occured with these characters. Now, thnaks to ZED, matter is all cleared up.
