I like it. It gives a better impression of "having closure, but still leaving everything open" than the other FFs (this is the same way I describe the Angel finale).

I personally like the ending more than that of other Final Fantasys, but the other endings leave more room for fanfiction thumbup.gif . But

Cecil becoming King could be considered a normal ending, good things happen to the hero in the end.

I just wish I knew what happened to Rydia...

Agreed. Most endings tend to leave things far too ambigious, and FFIV was the one that broke that tradition (much like the tradition of 4 person parties). It's as if Square decided that they were, for sure, not going to make a sequel to FFIV and provided us a decently closed ending.

... get those tinfoil hats on boys, I'm predicting more spinoffs for every game that had an ambigious ending.

I always wanted to know more about the Lunarians and what happened with Golbez and FuSoYa.
It wasn't like Star Wars where you convert back from the darkside only to die... He took off with the moon.
Where did they go?
What did they do?
where's my FF IV-2 ?

I've always thought of FFIV as a more "dreamy" RPG (compared to FFV) due to the character & plot. Even the music is more dramatic than any RPG in its class. That being said i find the ending to be a bit disappointing. Yeah, yeah, people going back to live their peaceful lives yadayadayada. At least the environmentalists stepped in and order the dwarves' tanks to tbe recycled. But all the characters waving goodbye at the throne room? Come on now....

I thought the ending for FFIV was at least satisfactory. Being that FFIV is my favourite FF, I'm a bit biased that way.

Cecil and Golbez could have reconciled more, but given that they only said a few words to each other, I suppose it is more realistic that way.

It was a fairly shut and closed ending, the only thing that's possibly dangling is Zeromus' last words.

I would like to see what became of Rydia and Kain (a not so lame sequel?).

Here is what I think happened to some of the characters.

Lunarian Moon: Kept moving in space with all the sleeping lunarians, until one day, it hits the Elvish Moon, Derris Kharlan, and is collides, sending both back where they had just left.

Kain: Goes to Kluya's burial tomb and asks what to do. Sent back to Baron and replaces the corpse of Baigan as Captain of the Guards.

Rydia: see http://www.fanfiction.net/s/1166214/1/ written by an author called seventhe It goes past the end, spoliers. And Kinda sad, and has some Edge Rydia parts.

I liked the ending. I think Rydia and Edge hook up, don't they? I always assumed they get married after the game ends. shifty.gif

I wish I knew what happended too. Now I know Edge talks about marrying her in the ending. However, Rydia never seemed to recipicate, ever. I don't remeber their parts very well. Rydia did say goodbye to the summoned monsters and they both attended Cecil and Rosa's wedding. There is a high chance Edge proposed then. Knowing Rydia she probably just slapped him if he did. As a whole, I thought the ending was a little cliéche, espesialy the wedding. I was also dissapointed the game was over, I loved that game. Now all I can do is play through it again and again and again. . .
Edit
I'm a Magroader now? I feel a little insulted, since Returners beat the hell out of Magroaders. Just kidding tongue.gif .

Yeah playing one of the best FFs ever is disappointing. . .not! Although the most disappointing part of the ending to me is that Zeromus was too easy. Oh well, there's always FFXII. biggrin.gif

I agree with the other opinions here, it was pretty well closed but open enough. Could have been less ambiguous, but it was alright. I liked the way it was bitter-sweet rather than completely happy. Cecil gets married, but he doesn't completely reconcile with Golbez and Kain. I thought it was sad how Kain didn't even go to his best friend's wedding :sniff:.
