That was always a tough battle for me also. The Time Mages were always the my main priorities when fighting that battle because of the Haste, Don't Move, Don't Act, etc. So, have Mustadio Snipe them with everything he's got. Next, focus on Gafgarion himself. After that, the Archers and Knights should be a piece of cake.

Firstl, you could check the Walkthrough here at CoN, it should give you pointers.
Second I'll give you one of my strategies. This battle is the first one where you can have Agrias as a playable unit, and not a guest. She can be put to great use in the second group, effectively attacking the Time Mages and Knight on the upper level (if, like me, you don't like to use the special characters a lot, swap her for another Mage, complementary to the one described next). This group would do well with a Summoner or Black Mage on her side, for the same purpose; I tend to prefer the Summoner myself, because of their ability to cast Golem (extremely effective in this battle, seeing that aside from Gafgarion, the attacking team uses direct attacks, that Golem can handle). Unfortunately, this group will suffer sever damage in the meantime, so you must have an effective way of healing and raising them, should they die. This is where the Monk enters, giving you both great attack force in ranged and close encounters, and healing and raising powers (since the land is mostly flat, it actually is a great idea to use Revive in this battle). Ramza should be in the most brutal setting available for you. Your fifth unit is up to you, but one of its task will be to render Gafgarion useless. I like using a Ninja with Steal as a secondary, but a Knight should do the trick if you don't want to bother with stealing the Blood Sword. A Ninja will give you a greater variety of attacks, while a Knight is more likely to last the battle without needing healing. This is only a suggestion of course, but it worked almost every time for me. If you're skilled enough in this area, have your Summoner use Math Skil as a secondary. On a final note, this matter was already discussed in another thread. Here's the link : http://www.cavesofnarshe.com/forums/ipb/in...?showtopic=3098 |

The best job class here could be the Meditaters and you could get some of the enemies to side with you.
it does help to have the odds even out a bit. |

I'd have to disagree with you, Mewmon. I don't want half of my turns wasted with more-than-likely-to-fail Invites. Maybe if you want to use the Mediators for other purposes, I can see them being used, but not solely for Invite purposes.

well, my Inviting plan does take alot of luck go and if you are REALYY luckly, you could get some of the enemy units to help you instead of hurting you. (altho it would be a good idea to get a male theif and use steal heart on the time mages.
if you follow my plan right, then you might even the odds a bit. This post has been edited by Mewmon on 7th September 2004 19:30 |
