There are certain websites out there that display some of this information about the characters in FFVI. I was wondering where they got this information from. Here's a few examples of such a website:

Terii Senshi's FFVI Section (Weight, Height, Blood Type, and Birthdate)
Caves of Narshe's FFVI Section (Height and Weight)
FF Legend's FFVI Section (Height)
FF Online's FFVI Section (Height)

These sites offer conflicting information. Which one is right? Are any of them right? This information is displayed as if it's official but is it? Hey CoN, is Gau really 169 pounds, the third heaviest character in the game???

You guys can have fun and make up these figures if you want, but answers to these questions would be nice as well.

I know the Japanese manual gave a hell of a lot more info on characters, even as far as including more background info on minor characters and Leo's and Kefka's rivalry. That may be where all that originated from (even though I don't remember any vital statistics being listed), although I haven't a clue as to why they vary from site to site, but from what I've read the ages are always consistent.

There's also a site out there I read once that listed each character's hobbies (sorta like the likes and dislikes on that first site you listed) but I can't remember where/what it was.

I don't know about the blood type, hobbies, and likes/dislikes info, but the age/height/weight data is given in the official FF3 Nintendo Player's Guide. It also includes stats (Power=Vigor, Quickness=Speed, Magic=Mag.Pwr, and Strength=Stamina) and equipment types used. For example:

Good lord Locke is a toothpick! I'm 170 pounds at 22 and I consider myself in the "small-medium" build category!

Hey Corundum, would you mind posting the profile information for all characters? Just the age, height and weight would be fine. We already know everything else.

I always figured those had to be wrong, though according to the manuals, they aren't. Like Locke for instance seems bigger than 147 lbs. I mean, he's 25 (suposedly, I thought he was younger, ah well) and that is like...I dunno, but its pretty damn small.

And Setzer being 5'9 is a little odd, but I guess nothing big. And the fact that no one (cept Sabin and Umaro) are over 6' tall. I mean, these guys seem pretty big, but even Shadow is 5'5. That just seems odd to me, I don't know how others think about it.

Locke's weight is fine. Check out this nifty webpage. If you enter in Locke's information the site says 151 pounds is his ideal weight. The medical recommendation is anywhere from 129-169 pounds, and he has a higher body mass index than I do (check the bottom of that webpage for that stat). So he's not unrealistically thin. However he's not bulky either, which is why he can hang from ceiling pillars and stuff.

Oh yeah, I'm 6'3" and almost everyone is shorter than me. Most people are under 6 feet I think. Lemme check the nifty website and I'll edit this post if I'm wrong.

EDIT: Actually I'm right. Ok, check this nifty webpage. The average height for a white male at the age of 25 is just under 70 inches, and 72 inches is 6 feet.

When contrasted with real-life heights and weights, the information is very accurate. Take Cyan, for instance. He's 5'10" and weighs 158 lbs. I'm 5'8" and weigh 130 lbs. That seems accurate to me. I like these sites you posted, i90. Very informative, I must say. Thanks!

The cool thing is, once we have the official information on the characters we can figure out the body mass index for each character. I bet no one has done that before. It'll be great for doing a comparison. How fat or skinny is Setzer under all that clothing? Do you have more or less body mass than your favorite character? We'll find out.

Yeah, also note that this game came out in Japan first. Japanese people usually are smaller and weigh less than someone who looks just as bulky as them. They might have based the character from the perspective of their race. This is also how I can prove that Gogo is a guy, since he would be kinda heavy for a woman.

I'll do a full writeup, but that'll take a while.

For a quick summary, I just looked through the Caves of Narshe character listings, and they're mostly in agreement with the Player's Guide. There are a few differences in the listed weights, though, some of them quite large:
CoN gives Mog's weight as 97; the Player's Guide gives it as 94.
CoN gives Celes' weight as 119; the Player's Guide gives it as 165 (!)
CoN gives Setzer's weight as 138; the PG gives it as 136.
CoN gives Strago's weight as 169; the PG gives it as 94 (!)

Oh, and Gau's weight is indeed 169 lbs according to the Player's Guide. Not bad for a 5'3" 13-year-old!

No, no, no... Gau is not 169 pounds. That medical site puts Gau in the obese catagory, lol! So that's why he wanted food so badly, to feed his habit. Seriously now we all know why those other sites make up data for weight and height. Celes is 165 pounds and Terra is 105? Strago is 94 pounds and still living? Those are some crazy numbers.

Cyan looks like that? He doesn't. Well, it doesn't really show anything other than his face, which is a long face, indeed, but the Amano art has him as a big, muscular warrior.

And Celes would be quite muscular I imagine, though Amano's artwork doesn't really reflect that from what I remember. Maybe her clothing is made of lead...
