I've decided since picking your brains has been so useful that I'll again do so. My question this time is, "Is there a way to increase your chances of breeding a rare monster....like maybe a red dragon that I'd like to poach but the game is being a punk and won't give me?"

If you want to improve your odds of breeding a rare monster...be patient. That's about it. Also, walking back and forth between two adjacent towns will speed the process, since you won't gte in random battles.

If your party is in the 80+ level range, go between Igros and Mandalia Plains until you get the green dragons vs. blue dragons and one red dragon fight. Use Reis to tame as many as possible. Hopefully you can snag the red dragon there.
If you don't get the red one but you did get some green or blue ones, do what TA said and spend a few weeks (in the game, not literally) going between towns, and hopefully you will get what youre looking for. There really is nothing you can do to improve your chances, though. Yeah, I figured it was just a matter of random chance. I was just hoping since I've been walking between Zeltennia and Zarghidas for like 2 years of the game and still no red dragon that someone had an insight into this ridiculous breeding. Thanks.

Also make sure you get rid of any dragons that do pop up and fill your character spaces. You won't breed any red dragons if there is a green one sitting where it needs to be.

Yeah, I finally got a few red dragons. After I got a couple the process went much faster, (it took 2.5 years of game time).

I've breeded dragons before...i got lots of red dragons....but somehow i couldn't get a hold of blue dragons....I hardly even see those only in deep dungeon...

NO!!!! My head would have exploded. No, I went through battles as well. It just kept giving me blue dragons, which are nice, but just not what I wanted.
