In the battle text for FF3 there are these lines for the Dragons:
Code 6A FE2B4 EF 29 FF129 Ice Dragon called its pal!<BREAK> Skull Dragon summoned!<END> 6B FE2B6 EF 5D FF15D Storm Dragon called its pal!<BREAK> Dirt Dragon summoned!<END> 6C FE2B8 EF 93 FF193 Dirt Dragon called its pal!<BREAK> Gold Dragon summoned!<END> 6D FE2BA EF C6 FF1C6 Gold Dragon called its pal!<BREAK> Storm Dragon summoned!<END> 6E FE2BC EFFB FF1FB Skull Dragon called its pal!<BREAK> Blue Dragon summoned!<END> 6F FE2BE F0 30 FF230 Blue Dragon called its pal!<BREAK> Dirt Dragon summoned!<END> 70 FE2C0 F0 64 FF264 Red Dragon called its pal!<BREAK> Ice Dragon summoned!<END> 71 FE2C2 F0 96 FF296 White Dragon called its pal!<BREAK> Red Dragon summoned!<END> 72 FE2C4 F0 CA FF2CA Storm Drgn undergoing changes!<END> 73 FE2C6 F0 EA FF2EA Gold Dragon begins to<BREAK> store energy!<END> 74 FE2C8 F1 10 FF310 Dirt Dragon got mad!<END> 75 FE2CA F1 26 FF326 Skull Dragon lives on magic pwr!<END> Can these actually happen? Do the dragons summon other dragons?? Who knows? There are a lot of dummied battle texts. For example Czar's famous line: Code 4C FE278 E9 B5 FEBB5 Mwa. ha ha...<BREAK> Humans and their desires!<BREAK> I'm free at last!<BREAK> I bring you destruction...<BREAK> I bring you terror...<BREAK> I am Czar...<BREAK> Prepare yourselves!<END> Anyone know, or have any thoughts on this? |

No, it cannot. There are quite a few more dummied in-battle text messages that are *not* used in the game. Have a look at my site for a collection of them and other things.
Edit 73 FE2C6 F0 EA FF2EA Gold Dragon begins to<BREAK> store energy!<END> Whoops. Wasn't paying as much attention as I should have. This is the only one on the list that is used in the game. After using Fight four times Magic two times, Gold Dragon will resp. show this message and then hit your party with Bolt3. Man I'd love to get into that fight, that'd be so fun. Those dragons were so much fun to put the smackdown on ^^ Especially when u were barely strong enough to beat them.

Yeah that would be cool if the dragons called each other in battle. What if you were fighting all 8 dragons at once! Naa, the game cant handle it, but it would be cool none the less.

That would be a crazy add-on. Fighting all eight at once, then having to take on Czar by himself!

Well... now that you mentioned it you COULD fight all 8 dragons in one battle, just not at the same time. You could make a script so that you're fighting 6 dragons at one time, and then when one dies the next dragon comes in.
Actually, i'm thinking I could make a really awesome battle here. For the final fight in the game, because it's such an easy battle, I could make it so that you have to fight EVERY boss in the game! That would be badass! It would be a very long fight though. Or perhaps I could replace the enemies on the tower (in the final fight, ie Girl, Left Arm, Right Arm, ect. with pumped up versions of bosses in the game. Man that would be awesome. Maybe i'll do that when I get home... |

Actually, you might be able to make those 'monster obelisk' enemies act like older bosses by reprogramming their battle scripts to match those of previous bosses, as Square did with the various 'forms' of Lavos's head in Chrono Trigger. I'm not a code hacker, so I don't know much about that stuff, but Djibriel, Master ZED, and some other people might be able to help you with that. As for making the very last battle a battle with all eight dragons, that would probably require more work--I'm not sure if you could fit that amount of code where final Kefka's code is, but it would be interesting if you could make Czar Dragon the final boss (you'd have to justify it story-wise or simply label it as a novelty hack, but that idea reminds me of how the SA-X wasn't the final boss of Metroid Fusion).

Quote (The 6th Lime) Well... now that you mentioned it you COULD fight all 8 dragons in one battle, just not at the same time. You could make a script so that you're fighting 6 dragons at one time, and then when one dies the next dragon comes in. Due to graphical limitations only one large monster sprite is allowed on the screen at one time (including monsters not yet called into battle). However most of the dragon sprites arn't large, but medium size. Therefore you would be able to have 3 smaller dragons on the screen at once but no more than that. Battles can contain a maximum of 6 monsters, including those who are called in during mid-battle. Even if you could have 6, the battle wouldn't be as cool as you think it would. All of the dragons are tuned for different character levels, which depends on what points in the game you can fight them. Some would be too strong and others too weak when mixed. I tried mixing bosses together in my first expert version of FFVI and the battles were pretty boring. What works is creating tough monsters designed to go together, and tune them up to be very strong against high level characters (80+). As I discussed earlier to some extend, the only way to fight more then 6 monsters in a row would be hardcode calling of another monster formation, not unlike Kefka's final fight. Although this certainly would be possible, you'd still need some other things such as a custom background image (current ones would look messy).
And, for further happiness, let me tell you background images are compressed! Edit A much better idea would be making one monster that doesn't necessarily look like one of the eight dragons. Czar comes to mind; Make it Speck for all I care. You could give it eight lives and have it check which life it's in for reference to the needed command script which could then be the dragon's. Note that such a monster would have a command script which is positivaly HUGE. It will devour extreme doses of space occupied by other monsters. Of course, I'll just hex0r it to *make* room should I feel like doing it. This post has been edited by Djibriel on 6th August 2004 22:16 -------------------- |
