That's a cool compilation. Nicely done. I think Sabin is so popular because you can always have quick access to him in the WoR, you get him early in the WoB, he's likeable, and he never really loses his usefulness.

I like the system that you used, though you might have wanted to include a much larger number of people. Regardless, the Top Three are all characters I like personally, so I'm not complaining.

Yeah, this is why I'm collecting more ratings now. The first time around I waited at least 3 months for people to post their opinions. After collecting these new results I'll probably wait another year or so before requesting for more. By then there will be a whole new crowd of people on the forums, and moderators will have renewed patience for such things.

Terra 10/7 I thought terra was the bomb when I first played since she was the only person to use magic, but over time I came to like her less... mostly due to the fact that her morph ability really doesn't last as long as you'd think it would.

I mean, if she's really half esper and half human, wouldn't she be able to choose her 'natural' form at will?

Locke 6/8 I came to appreciate locke more as his story unfolded, and after I realized that the steal command wasn't entirely useless. Stealing economizers from the aquillas is great, and with the right weapon/relic combos he becomes a killer in the colloseum.

Edgar 10/10 He's strong with his tools command right from the time you get him (with the autocrossbow, bio blaster, and noisemaker all doing area targetting effects without costing MP), and remains a powerful fighter/versatility character even up to the late game with a good selection of armor and weaponry.

Sabin 7/7 Very strong physically, low magic ability. His best attacks are single-target, and although his two area of effect blitzes are good when you get them, they lack in power later in the game. I guess the overly powerful bum rush makes up for that, but then again, at the end of the game almost all the characters have the ability to do 9999 damage anyways to multiple targets...

Shadow 8/10 Before I started reading this forum, I always just thought that shadow was the generic "badass filler character". His backstory and history with the other characters in the game never clued in for me until I started reading this site, and knowing it makes me respect his character all the more. He always has to wear either the genji glove or the gauntlet when I use him, simply because I can't imagine a stealthy assassin hauling a shield everywhere.

Cyan 5/5 Good character idea, great story... but I just can't bring myself to use him because I utterly despise having to wait for his swdtech power to build up, which results in me using dispatch more often than I'd prefer.

Celes 4/9 When I first played, I ignored celes altogether until the WoR, in which I was forced to use her. Turns out I underestimated her usefulness. Its too bad that runic is such a horrible ability to be stuck with for the whole game... but she's strong physically and magically, so she deserves a 9 at least.

Gau 1/10 I utterly hated gau when I played through the first few times. I wouldn't even bother teaching him magic, and I'd always send him in Mog's party at kefka's tower with mog equipped with the moogle charm just so that I wouldn't have to fight with him. Then I actually started paying attention to what each rage did, and quickly learned which ones to use and which ones to not bother getting. And the snow muffler on gau is a nice touch

Setzer 7/5 I'm not a big setzer battle fan, though I do like his character story. Throwing cards and dice at your enemies just doesn't appeal to me. Neither does using a slot machine or throwing gp.

Mog 10/7 Despite being a no-story character with very little in terms of special attacks, he gets mercy points for calling Ramuh a psycho and for having the moogle charm.

Strago 5/7 I give him the heal rod. That's about sums it up, though I will admit that his water elemental spell is useful for the first time you get to use him. After that he's just a crazy healer who learns enemy spells from time to time.

Relm 1/1 Control works for getting hard to achieve blue magic spells for strago, but other than that I really don't like this kid. Apparently she has the ability to be the most powerful magic user, but then again, even sabin can get 128 magic power if you level him with espers, so I really don't bother to use her. And her relationship with other characters in the game isn't enough to save her from my 1 point wrath!

Gogo 8/2 No backstory, can't equip espers, poor equipment choices. Oh, and he/she looks like an overdressed wookie when viewed from the side. Sure, gogo can do about any attack in the game, but by the time you get gogo you really don't need him/her.

Umaro 2/4 Berserkers have never appealed to me... especially when they lack story and can't equip anything other than what they come with. He's got comic value though for throwing your party members at enemies. Feed him a green cherry and cast berserk on him, and watch him mow through the enemies like Conan.

I guess I'll throw in my numbers, as well.

... because her sketch ability is buggy and often weak, her control command doesn't give full control of the enemy's attacks, her selection of items is (in my opinion, for what its worth) lacking, and she's a bratty 10 year old.

For what it's worth, I like Relm too. But she isn't really given enough time for development in the game, so you can't fairly give her a great rating, just because there isn't much to work with. Plus, she doesn't have the excuse of being a "secret" character like Mog or Gogo.
