I went with RE, why you ask? Because it's the only one I played, and when I played it back in the days as a wee child, the stuff scared me. I really don't think it would anymore... but there's always that chance.

I have to say Alone in the Dark. I remember a Demo CD I had along time ago with a Demo for that game, and it gave me the creeps. I never played Clock Tower, but for RE and SH, I've always gotten out of my phase of being scared. Only 2 things scare me IRL. Nothing else tends to do that to me.

Ya forgot Eternal Darkness and System Shock in there, dude. ^^
And really? None of 'em. Horror Games never really make me jump or freak out, really. I got some kind of natural cold blooded state when I play games. ![]() |

Twisted Metal Black. I don't get freaked out easily, but I never want to play that game ever again.

no game has scared me, per se. but a game that freaked me out was that Hexen game for N64. it had a creepy, freaky vibe to it

Eternal Darkness will come and go like a breeze as far as I'm concerned, so I decided not to put it up, and who would've thought Twisted Metal could be scary. I always thought it more as a fun blast-'em-up...
Fact is, I couldn't think of a whole lot of survival horror games out there that would actually stand the test of time. Still, to those out there who claim to be impervious to fear, have you actually played the games mentioned? -------------------- |

None of these games have given me nightmares (mostly because I haven't played through all of them...) but there was one that gave me nightmares when I was younger.
I had Legend of Zelda, Link to the Past on SNES. And I got to the part in it where Zelda suddenly dissapears and goes to the dark world. I was confused and thought that she had been killed, and was a bit upset about that. When I went to bed that night, and for the next week, I kept having a recurring nightmare where it would be dark, pouring rain, and I'd be searching through forests and castles trying to rescue Zelda. I guess that proves that you don't need a horror game specifically to scare people ^-^ Or give them nightmares... -------------------- I had an old signature. Now I've changed it. |

I has indeed. Only Silent Hill I have to play, however, lacking a PSX and hardly saw anyone around here with it. Also hardly heard of it befor...Got some potential to freak me out by what I heard. Somewhat.
Oh and befor you say I'm bragging, I was scared of the witch in King Quest 2 when I was six, so eh. ![]() |

Max Payne is probably the "scariest" game I've played. I wasn't really scared by it, but there was some crazy, f'd up crap in that game. That one guy talking about drinking the Devil's blood or something?

I voted SH, but SH2 scared me a lot more. I was so freaked out, and I went through a phase where I wouldn't play it after 6 by myself.

Definitely Silent Hill. But technically no game can give me nightmares, because the more a game or movie freaks me out the more in to it I get. So the games that should give me nightmares never get the chance because I end up playing them 'til five in the morning, and then I gotta go to school.
So you could say that Silent Hill not only gave me nightmares, but also releived me of them by literally BEING the nightmare! ![]() iwanttoplaySH2iwanttoplaySH2...But...I don't have a PS2. iwantaPS2iwantaPS2... ![]() -------------------- *END TRANSMISSION* |

Not so much Scary, as it is just very messed up: Twisted Metal Black. Every character in the game (in the series as a whole, but that game in particular) is very twisted and f'd up. Almost no one gets a happy ending in the series, either, which definitely fits the utterly psychotic atmosphere. The whole series is downright disturbing.

I've never had nightmares from any game, but my pulse races when I play the Marine missions in Alien versus Predator. Every level is almost totally pitch black and you can never see the aliens coming.

AVP2, just try to play it without getting scared. RE has just too many cheap "scares" to be even considered.

I had to vote Silent Hill... that is by far the freakiest game ever made... puts Resident Evil to shame anyday. I've never played any of the Clock Tower Games so I don't know about that one but Silent Hill for sure is scarier than any other video game I've ever seen.

Neither of them gave me nightmares...just gave me the willies when i saw them...i actually don't remeber my dreams often -------------------- The more people i meet...the more i want to be a penguin |

I chose to null vote. The only game that eber gave me nightmares was Drhakken for SNES. I was sick and had some bad fever dreams from that game.

None of them. The only game that scared me was Ecco: The Tides of Time. Hey, the fear of drowning is a perfectly rational fear, moreso than zombies...

silent hill by far seems like the scariest, and m+st atmo'pheric, but i never played, so can't say yet.
RE1 was kinda dumb and never really scared me, but when RE2 came out when i was about 11-12, ie freaked me out. my cousins would play at 1am and i would watch with their surround sound stereo. creepy. and clock tower is dum6, so funny. at leats the PS version, ha! the guy with the scissors is wierd.t -------------------- Uwee he he! |

this is one i've found a minimal amount of people that agree with but...Max Payne 2. first off, h$ descrises what he's thinking and fteling with such detail that it&w39;s kinda freaky to vi6ualize. second, the atmosphere in many, if not all, of the levels is very creepy and dark. they5aren't afraid to embrace the surreal which, in many cases, )akes for an overall frightening experience.

Resident Evil is hard and frightfull.
the only game I got from the series us doctor's cut and I quited playing it since the monsters don't reappear when I go back into another room. (what's a game that doesn't have alot of targets whenever I get a new weapon to test it against) |

Man, you didn't put Fatal Frame on the list!!!
How could you leave out Fatal Frame!? That game is by far the scariest game I have ever played. At one point it literally made me drop my controller and dash out of my room squeelin' like a girl (no offense to girls thats just what I sounded like). Just in case you're getting the idea that I scare easy, this game is the only thing that has ever made me freak out like that. Sure RE gave me a good jump and made me swear before I blew a Licker's head off with a shotgun, but it doesn't give you the same fright and dread as Fatal Frame. There is also a Fatal Frame 2 which I think is just as good. It didn't give AS huge of a scare as the 1st but it came damn close. The game is made by Capcom, like RE, so its also got that credibility behind it. If you haven't played I strongly recommend it. -------------------- -- You're Gonna Carry That Weight -- |
