if im not a geomancer ... is this skill still work ???

Only if the character knows the correct Geomancy attack for whatever surface he/she is on when attacked. For instance, if you are on snow and know Blizzard, Counter Flood has a chance to be invoked. If you do not know Blizzard in that case, it will not work.

Like any reaction skill, it will work in another job, but only in the limits R51 described.

Counter Flood will work for any class that has it equipped. You do not need to know any other Geomancy abilities or be a Geomancer for it to work.

duh...yes...if you equip the ability that is..you should of tested that before you made it to a forum...
 well if you tested it...you must of forgot what abilities you didn't learn, the ground type, and where your enemy is standing on... Are you addressing me? Are you saying that for Counter Flood to work on say, Machine terrain, you have to know Lava Ball? If you are (it's very hard to understand your post) that is incorrect. Hey do I need to know the spell Reraise for Dragon Spirit to work? Do I need to know Regen for Regenerator to work? Is Counter Flood the only reaction ability in the game that is dependent on what action abilities you have learned?
From the BMG: [Counter Flood] - 300 JP, Geomancer If you are targeted by a Counter Flood-enabled attack (Check the big list (section 3.3) to see if an attack is Counter Flood- enabled. For the most part, these are Countergraspable attacks that also cause damage, plus ELEMENTAL attacks and some other oddballs), you will counter with an ELEMENTAL directive corresponding to the ground you are currently standing on, regardless of your assailant's distance from you and regardless of whether you have actually learned that ability. The ELEMENTAL directive will have its usual effect area, so if one of your units happens to be standing next to the target of Counter Flood and is on the same height, (s)he'll be damaged too!
