I came up with two for Strago (finally) :
1: He learns the lore right after the monster casts it, instead of after the battle 2: He learns regular spells after the battle in which they are cast (like if he survives the MagiMaster, he learns Ultima) And I came up with three more for Gau: 1: He learns a selected monster's rage after fighting with it (no leap required). 2: He actually becomes the enemy, instead of copying the attacs. 3: When he gets attacked, he counters with that enemy's most powerful attack. One for Locke: 1: When in a back or pincer attack, he can take a turn to swap the party with the enemy (making back attacks regular battles, and pincers side attacks) Two more for Setzer (I finally got rid of that mental block, and I'm coming up with ideas faster than I can type them) : 1: The arship comes by and drops all of the other members on the enemies (like Palidor) 2: The airship comes by and you can swap with any character you have Anyone who is making their own version of the game can use the Nyerk idea, and I'm still open to suggestions (hint, hint) ![]() -------------------- When life gives you lemons... I don't think I'd like learning spells instantly... it would get really boring for me if I had all the spells as early as possible...
I really like the idea of the Esper wings 'cause it's practicle if you use terra alot. The things for strago are really good. I also like the Ideas for Locke and Setzer. -------------------- I feel so cold, I can't see a thing, I hear a faint sound, the black wind howls.... |

Thanks for the compliments. My ego isn't that high, so anything will make me feel better.
More tools for Edgar's Nyerk: Leafblower (wind), flashlight (causes darkness, single enemy, does mre to enemy than flash) The tools you have depend on the tools you've recieved. The three mentioned earlier come with the Nyerk Band, Leafblower replaces noiseblaster, and flashlight replaces flash. It's a good idea but stacking would just get ridiculous... having it be just her or the entire party could make battles too easy but maybe not.

Yeah, personaly I think I would have it replace the element after each sucessive runic rather than stacking, and only have it effect her. It already saves the party once (when it absorbs the spell initialy) AND gives her MP, so the little added boost of making her immune to that element for the remainder of the battle makes it a bit more useful than the original without realy makeing it a powerhouse move.
EDIT: I just found this on www.rpglegion.com. Runic Runic allows you to absorb spells. The first spell cast after the Runic command is used will be absorbed. Instead of the spells normal effect, the character that used Runic will gain an amount of MP equal to the MP cost of spell. Elemental weakness, immunities, and absorptions affect the amount of MP gained (this means if you absorb the element of the spell, you will lose MP instead of gaining MP). Once the character's ATB gauge has filled back up after using Runic, you won't be able to absorb any spells (until you use Runic again) So, if Celes were rendered immune to the element that she would be absorbing - then she would LOSE MP when absorbing any future incident of that spell... I like the ingeneous names for more Edgar-gagets, but here are some relics i came up with:
-Mug charm: Increases damage dealt with mug, and gives Locke 100%steal rate -Kweh!: Summons Chocobos the team can ride on. Can use special chocobo abilities(ie.Chocobo rush, Sleep wing, featherduster (like dispel), and poison claw) like when they rode the magitek armors! -Gambler: Equip to Setzer to use "gambler" ability. Gambler is like slot and mug put together, so u can dmg.enemies, steal gil/items/equipment, and heal urself, sometimes all at once! -Copy-cat: Equip to let a person use/learn others attacks(like gogo, only abilities, like swdtek or blitz, are learned like magic) can only learn ability from one (or 2) ppl. -Necros Belt: Lets all attacks and attak magic heal u, but holy magic that cures will hurt u! -Magi-tome: Doubles learn rate of magic spells (?). -Attack Buster: Enables attacks to exceed damage limit of 9,999! -Magic Buster: Enables magic attacks to exceed damage limit of 9,999! I think that it woundn't stack, just replace. And I actually thought about it before I decided to make it the entire party.
An add-on to that idea is that if the same element is absorbed 3 times, Celes will counter with the opposite element (i.e. fire-ice, bolt-wind, flare-pearl, etc.). It would of course cancel the runic's element after countering (so a fourth spell wouldn't counter again, for balance issues) Or when she absorbs an element, her sword would be charged for that element the next time she attacks (dosen't stack, either). Don't you think it's a bit ironic that at first I couldn't think of one for Celes, and now she has the most ideas. I heave more Nyerks, but these have special conditions:
If you have Sabin + Edgar in your party, one of them has the Nyerk relic equipped, and both their gauges are full, then they will do a dual attack: Sabin grabs an enemy, Edgar takes his chainsaw, and Sabin slams the enemy into the chainsaw doing LOTS of damage. This uses both thier turns, and has the possibility of damaging either character ("Balance Balance Balance" -Nykidemus) If you have any combination of Relm, Shadow, and Strago in your party, one of them with the Nerk relic, and both gauges full, then one of three things will happen: If Relm and Shadow: Relm sketches a random weapon for Sadow, and he throws it, doing 2x damage, but at 1/2 the hit rate (so even with the sniper sight relic there's a 50% chance of missing). If Relm and Strago: Strago uses a lore and Relm sketches a random monster which uses that lore. If Shadow and Strago: Strago does something weird to ditract an enemy, while Shadow hits it from behind 3 times. I haven't thought of one for all 3 yet. I will somtime, but don't hold your breath. I would make the Runic-counter thing a small random chance of countering... probably just with a physical atack. If she doesnt have a spell that does wind damage (And there are none asside from W-Wind in the standard magic) then how does she counter atack a lightning bolt with it?
Having characters who have some relation have combo atacks is neat. You run into the controversy over Shadow if you try to use him though... How about something that makes Setzer randomly doll out an entire deck of cards, or a whole handful of dice? It takes effect, his standard atack hits all of the enemies for massive damage. More of a gimic than truly useful, but it would be a "Hey cool!" whenever he did it. |

I'm running out of ideas, but here's one for Gogo (if he still has any blank spots): He chooses an enemy, and until the end of the battle, he can use that enemy's attacks (controlled by the player). Has a "switch" skill in place of "fight", in which he swaps what enemy he's mimicing.

How 'bout another Nyerk tool for Edgar: Vacuum Cleaner. Absorbs 50% of a single enemy's HP and MP; on rare occasions (25% of the time) absorbs 100%. Ineffective against bosses.
Just a thought... Also, two more relics: Name: Freddy Ring Can be equipped by: Sabin Effects: When equipped, character (Sabin) is constantly in berserk status. Each claw attack does double damage and always attacks four times. Makes Sabin immune to Zombie and Doom but weak against Pearl. Name: Jason Ring Can be equipped by: Edgar Effects: When equipped, character (Edgar) is constantly in berserk status. However, he can only attack with the chainsaw, which also does double damage and always attacks four times. Makes Edgar immune to Zombie and Doom but weak against Pearl. This one in particular can only be found in Doma Castle in the WoR (an extremely rare steal from WrexSoul) and automatically grants Edgar the chainsaw to use when equipped. He cannot, however, use the chainsaw without wearing the relic if he doesn't already have the actual tool. This counts as one of those instances when a weapon pops out of thin air (sorta like how Gau mysteriously obtains weapons during certain rages even though he can't legitimately equip them). How about something to enable Locke to steal enemies clothing like he did with the merchants and whatnot? Probably have to make it only work on human-type enemies, but when you do they run away and you get to play with their costume for awhile. It would be most amusing as Kefka is human... Locke would have to do the evil laugh whenever he stole Kefka's clothes.

Nyerk Band Ideas!
Locke : Reborn. Rachel appears in a flickery ghost, form, and drops a single flower, which Locke hurls at the enemy for MASSIVE damage- and when it's thrown, and single sparkling point of light falls from his eye. Shadow : Black Echo - A mysterious cloaked man appears, tossing Shadow a sword, which he then throws, causing a 15 second Doom on the target. Terra : Last Embrace - (ONLY WORKS IF SHE HAS A SWORD) Terra holds her sword straight out, and General Leo appears behind the target. Both Terra and Leo run forward, impaling the enbemy twice for 9999 damage each shot. Another two 9999s occur when Terra and Leo touch. However, gives Terra "Sadness' for the remainder of the battle. (She's in the Critical position, cannot act) And, a new item- Identity band- Description reads 'Reveals the idendity of the Hidden', and is equippable on Gogo only. However, the second you equip it.. GAME CRASH! -------------------- Uwao. aooh! I'm Gau! I'm your friend! Let's travel together! |

Those Nyerk ideas are great!
Here's a relic for Shadow and Relm only. Dogleash- If equipped to Shadow- Doubles the chance of Interceptor coming. If equipped to Relm- allows Interceptor to protect Relm the same way he protects Shadow, plus does the same random attacks. PS-to SpriteMeister- I don't like the word Nyerk that much, it leaves something to be desired. Relic Name: Omni-Slash. Who can use: Locke, Celes, Terra, Edgar, Cyan, and Gogo. Effect: Change "Attack" into "Omni-Slash". Omni-Slash: Slashes enemy 8 times with natural attack power. Goes up to 16 with Genji Glove. 2) Relic Name: MP Gamble Who can use: ALL of them except Umaro and Gau. Effect: Right after you select the fight command, you get to use your MP for extra power. Every 300 MP used will double the attack power and then returned to basic after use. If you use 600 MP, it goes TRIPLE. The maximum is 900, which allows you to inflict 9,999 damage every time regardless of low vigor and/or Batt Pwr. 3) Relic Name: Choco Lure Who can use: ALL Effect: While in a grassy field, there is a 50% chance to find a chocobo in battle. If you defeat the chocobo, he will let you ride him. But this is just like any other basic chocobos in ff3/6. |

Finnaly I have a new one:
Trance Ring: Makes a Trance Bar appear below ATB Gauge, when it fills up from enemy attacks or every hit you do to an enemy and the character Trances (yes just like in FFIX) cause break Damage Limit, Stronger Attacks for 5 of that characters turn, can be equiped by All but Gau. and surprise! one more. Kefka (Working name.) Adds Kefka option hit right at fight for Kefka option which makes party dissapear and makes Final Kefka appear, and he is controllable, has the same HP, MP, and Stats as Final Kefka and has "Laugh attack" which hits all enemys and infects them with ALL status effects as well. Also after the Battle is over the Party apeears again and they gain Triple EXP as well. |

Forgiven: Equipable to any char. who has lost someone close to them. Makes them immune to instant death, and casts "Life 2" when the character dies. (Once per battle) Found: When all of the character's have redeemed themselves (i.e. When you beat Wrexsoul for Cyan, etc.) -------------------- When life gives you lemons... here are two good ones:
-lumanity of the hevans-when equipped durring battle, randomly casts life 2 to friendly party members when magical damage is delt to opposing units. when dealing physical damage to opposing units, casts pearl at random (5% chance of pearl). -scorn of the darkness-when equipped durring battle, randomly casts flare to opposing units when magical damage is delt to friendly units. When physical damage is delt to friendly units, ramdomly gives equiped charicter ability to use quadruple attack phases. New relic: Swarm. If you have all 14 characters, then the 10 that aren't in your party(assuming you have a full party) attack the enemy(s) with their strongest weapon available. Equippable to all except Umaro, Biggs, Wedge, Bannon, etc.

I like the idea of upgrading Celes' Runic Blade. While I personally found her Runic Blade to be quite useful if used correctly (and with other characters who weren't dependent on magic), its usefulness gradually fell off as the game continued. Perhaps rather than counteracting, the relic would give her a "Capture"-esque method of attacking, and Runic'ing in the same turn.
Another relic idea would be something to accelerate the meter for Cyan's SwdTech's. Poor Cyan is handicapped in the later parts of the game by increasingly-quick party members and the impatience of the player. I do like that suggestion for the Anti-MoogleCharm, though I think it would be more balanced as an Anti-BangleCharm (battles happen about twice as often, useful for Cursed Shld and level-building). My last runic suggestion is something similar to "Offering", except that it causes a single physical attack to strike all enemies with a damage penalty (50% would probably be fair, waived if there is only one enemy on the screen). While we're on the topic (and because I've seen it mentioned), I would have liked to see upgradeable/better/more Tools for Edgar. Perhaps some elementals, such as a Flaming Autocrossbow, a Compressor (Wind-attack), a Water-Gun (just so long as you dissociate it far enough from 'Squirtle'), and a Grav-Bomb (Earth/Gravity). Any opinions? |
