You know Elessar, it's extremely unpleasant to have a conversation with you. I enjoyed it until I realized you are acting rude and disrepectful. I don't appreciate calling me and other posters liars, "zulu??" saying our comments are stupid, ignorant, or whatever else you said. We're discussing a video game here, not the Iraq War. There's no reason to get all emotional about it and make personal attacks on what we wrote.

Don't double post and everyone stop getting so bloody worked up. Now that we've gotten to the point of calling people's interpretation of a video game stupid, have we so much further to fall?

To me, Celes crime was that she had a conscience...nothing more nothing less. She did not agree with the tactics Kefka was using and in some way shape or form, was branded a traitor.
I don't know the particulars, nor will I hazard a guess. Besides, it ain't like she was in any real danger. -------------------- This is a webcomic and gaming blog where I rant about nonsense. Enjoy. I was a soldier, now I just play one in video games. |

I still say they should have beheaded her on the spot. When a general is guilty of treason, you gotta act quick, lest the troops follow suit.

Quote (Hamedo @ 10th April 2006 13:17) I still say they should have beheaded her on the spot. When a general is guilty of treason, you gotta act quick, lest the troops follow suit. ![]() What's really interesting here is that Celes avoided being beheaded twice. The first time she escaped because of Locke. The second time, after being captured by the Empire shortly after her display of high treason within the Magitek Factory, her survival is absolutely incredulous. She should have been killed on the spot, not held in limbo until the Returners unleashed the Espers on Vector. In fact, her survival until the treaty with the Emperor can't be explained beyond "Gestahl stepped in". Leaking state secrets to the enemy? Ok, you might be able to ignore it. Leading the enemy into a top-secret research station, participating in dismantling the labs, and then helping the enemy escape? Ok, now you're looking at several executions. To be perfectly honest, I'm surprised Celes didn't commit suicide after transporting herself, Kefka and his reinforcements away from Locke and the Returners. Of course, Cid also escaped death as well. It could very well be that Gestahl realized he could manipulate the entire situation at this point and kept both alive so that the Returners would have less reason to hate him. Still, he had to have acted real fast in order to stop Kefka from killing Celes in the midst of battle. -------------------- Visions of Peace - Four Generals, One Empire, and the Returners caught in the middle. |
