Has anyone ever heard of or seen the supposed secret Chris Houlihans room in the game?

Heres a link tongue.gif that might interest a few...but keep it between us, OK?

Sounds like a load of bullshit to me. It has all the features of a good rumor: there's a method for getting at something that no one (reputable) confirms; it involves doing something that's theoretically possible but easy to screw up; and there's no way to tell whether you've done it right other than to get the desired result.

Edit
*shrug* Okay, if someone normal actually confirms this, I won't dismiss it as readily.

Yeah, I've been in there a few times. They should've had some super-secret excellent item in there or something. As it is, it's not all that exciting beyond the initial novelty factor. sad.gif

Note that I tripped in by accident rather than following any strategy, though I'd read of its existence in Super Play. This was when I was still playing on the real SNES.

I'm pretty sure. All I'd read at the time was that it sometimes occured when falling down the hole with the bush on top of it, by the river, east of the Sanctuary (you know where I mean, right?) So I just made a point of dashing at it every time I was in the area, and I happened to end up there one time.

I think. It was a pretty long time ago.

But I've definitely been there without any of the "take ten paces north" type instructions I've seen since.

I don't know about that. I'm not *extremely* bored, and I'm planning on looking for this when I go back to my boyfriend's apartment. (That's where the SNES is.)

Youd be right about the Super Play thing Tiddles.......

I was mulling through my old back issues the other day and this came up so I did a Google on it.

They also mentioned the hefty reward you get if you sold a fish to that guy in Karakiko village.......

That statement is completely devoid of any meaning whatsoever. First of all, saying a word might be too strong and then correcting it with an even stronger word (incredulously) makes no sense at all, and the other word (grammarically) is non-existant in the english language. I didnt think it sounded like a word so i took the liberty of looking it up on dictionary.com and, low and behold, it doesnt exist. The only correction is grammatically and that makes even less sense than correctly yourself with a worse word, if that was the intended word.

Back to the topic, though. I find it completely natural to look for secrets in the game, even if it involves a great deal of trial and error, and is by no means regarded as foolish, in my eyes (unless of course it defies the logic of the game). I remember once believing there was a staircase in the hall of giants in FFI, so i would fight around in there for hours...it seems there wasnt but i got quite a few levels as a result. thumbup.gif I havent found this particular secret/rumor, though.

I don't think you ever actually got to the topic. -R51

You can enter the Room by overloading the game with rapid movements, hence entering a nojn-loaded room, whereupon you are transported to CHR.
