In honor of my new love for FF6 (just started playing about 2 weeks ago), I did a Celes art, which actually started out as Terra, but Terra has too much unaccounted for jewelry.
1. Images: ![]() Thumbnail (pngs are so huge) -- 25 KB: ![]() 2. Info: Name: Maaeya Email: [email protected] Image Info: 427 x 714 pixels -- 77.3 KB Media: Plain paper + Ink pen + Watercolor pencils Comments: The tough thing about drawing anyone from FF6 is that they never have enough reference pics, so I kinda just made up a costume and probably altered a couple colors. Her bandana's probably supposed to be blue. |

I really like the colors and the expression on her face. I think it's beautiful and thoughtful.
The only major gripe I have is with the bandanna around her hair. -------------------- Veni, vidi, dormivi. |

Beautiful piece. Her expression is great, even if it makes her look a little too young for my taste

From what I can remember, Celes is pretty young. I think even eighteen, but that may just be Terra. She's in her early twenties at least I believe. Anyway, yeah, the bandana is screwy. All you'd hafta do is take that into photoshop and erase over the two spots that show on the outer edges. Otherwise, it's a sweet pic. I love the expression. For once she's happy without devolving into anime cliche. Bravo.

About the headband: I think what you were trying to do was put it directly around her head. That way the hair goes around the outside and prevents hair from getting in her face. I used to wear my hair like this all the time when I was in high school. Or you could have been trying to put it all around her hair, in which her hair should have been brought close to her skull at all times. The way it stands right now, you have a pretty wimpy hairband because her hair is making it stretch out all over.
About everything else: I really like this wash drawing. She has a very charming face that exudes youth and innocence (hey, she's pure as snow). Her clothing has a sensible female appeal (in otherwords, not too skimpy or revealing) and seems like fairly practical battle wear. The body doesn't quite have a natural flow to it, but it's well rendered. About the media: Have you experimented with watercolour pencils a lot? It seems to me just looking at it you're using the dry pencil and going over it with water. In some areas though, you might want to try a more wet approach. By getting the pigment directly onto the brush, you'll have a more fluid colour distribution and it won't be 'streaky' from the pencil strokes (the background is the prime example here). On the other end of the spectrum, you could go for a more textured laydown of colour by wetting the paper first then using the dry pencil on it. The colour is bolder this way and you get this interesting blobby line. Another thing is you might want to play with colour more. Right now, it's a very direct colour piece. Using complementaries in your drawings makes them bolder and can be especially useful in the shadow areas of them. -------------------- kame, tortue, tortuga, schildkröte, tartaruga, turtle "Arthur Dent?" very nice... i can't comment on the headband... it's been said. i like the sad/happy look to it. putting some sort of emotion other than extremes is always 'ace'... nice work.

Thanks for the comments, especially such detailed ones from Kame. Yeah, the bandanna could be worked on =P. Kinda forgot that you tie them and not just "place" on head. Scanning seems to make color really light..
