Well the hardest would have to be, FFV, do to the fact that it had very hard bosses in the game, 2nd is IV, and 3rd is (no final fantasy but is a squenix game)
Chrono Trigger.

I think that the PSX FF4 is the hardest Final Fantasy. Although I only say this because its the only FF were I had to be above level 60 to beat the end boss. All the games are fairly easy though.

I would have to say that FFV is the hardest cuz like GamblingCat said the bosses were really hard and it was chalenging cuz of the job system the way that you get your skills is awsme.

One was definately the hardest. You were required to sit around and level/ gain GP. You couldn't complete it without doing so. You often times could not complete a dungeon on one pass-through.

FF1 was extremely difficult

Hmm... Well, considering I've finished every game but 3j and 8... I would have to say that 3j is the hardest, I find. My characters are in the 50's of levels, I believe, and I still struggle with battles in the last levels. I have all the best equipment, too...

FF4j Hard Type is quite difficult, and FF5 was tough, too. FF1 was also tricky... I haven't finished 8 yet, though, because I keep losing interest and then I forget where I was going when I get back to it after a month. tongue.gif

It's gotta be FF1. Those darn Gas Dragons in the final dungeon were just one memory I have of that game. Of the ones listed there by name, I'd say FF5 as well.

2. Its got a system that dotn work for getting stronger, and frankly, its dull. 1 i can handle, (just cant be bothered..) but 2 has a dumb upgrading system. I doubt i'll ever bother to finish it...

A lot of people seem to think FFI is hard, and I haven't played FFI, so that is why it is considered other.

I thought FF2 was the hardest I have yet to beat it but I also do not like playing it that much as I really REALLY hate the system in it.

Final Fantasy I, by far. I played the PSX version, and according to my brother, they made it easier. Easier?! In the PSX version, you missed the enemy about 50% of the time, you had very little healing powers, and that coupled with the bosslike monsters at the end of the game plus the difficulty of leveling up made the game extremely difficult, but all the more gratifying to beat.

I'm still trying to figure out why FFVI is one of the options. It would only be plausable if you're playing i90 EV.

I voted FFV because some of the bosses were hard, even with save states.

The PSX version had different difficulty levels, an original mode and an easier mode for new schoolers. Based on what you described, especially the miss rate and the lack of spells, you probably played it on original mode.

Well, on my first time through, I thought FF7 was fairly difficult. Particulary Demon Gate (ancient temple), and that two headed boss at the great glacier. Of course, it was my first FF, and first RPG, so that might have had something to do with it. But I saw that game over screen way too many times.

FF1 was easier on the PSX (even in original mode). In the config menu, we have the possibility to put on the auto-target feature (thank god) and the possibility to use Life, Life 2, Gold Needle (to unpetrify). We couldn't use Reviving items in a battle in the original game.

But even with that, FF1 is the hardest.

Figaro, the reson was for any version of FFVI, I have only played the SNES and PSX versions (I like the SNES version [emulator] better). I may try the X-perts versions of FFVI.

A few of the bosses pissed me off, like the golems and the Mother Brain, and Magus (when you 1st fight him), That is why I thought it was hard.

I can't say that I've found any of them THAT hard overall, but probably FFV gets my vote.

The hardest one is probably FFIIj. By the way, most of hte newer ones aren't that hard.

Look at all those blanks GC left.

I chose IV. The NES ones are MUCH harder until you get to certain levels, then they are cake.
The rest are easy, because you can eventually get a cheap move/combo.

FFVII. I had to pump all my characters full of a crapload of cheats to beat the game. So while fighting Sephiroth, I had Cloud, Sephiroth and Aeris on my team. shifty.gif

The original Final Fantasy was exceedingly tough. I haven't played numbers II and III as released in Japan, but somewhere in between they probably decided to change course. The difficulty in FF IV and V depended on your knowledge: once you got the idea, they were easy. And FF VI was even easy when you just cluelessly pounded away without.

Uch...and I'm not even talking about FF VIII. They needed that Omega Weapon to slightly compensate for the ENTIRE game. Even without HP Junction the game wouldn't been much easier then for instance the original FF.

on ff8 i had most of the characters up to level 100 by using "Island Closest to Hell" , but left selphi and one other at low levels (20 or 30). then at the end i realized ultimiecias habit of switching your characters.

FF IV was the winner for me here... all the new ones are way to easy especially VII...VII was by far the easiest FF for me, the only thing hard about VII was Ruby and Emerald WEAPON, and even then if you level up right and equip the right materia then they are push overs.

None of them were really hard to me, but FFV was the hardest of them all thus far in my opinion. The job class system wasn't hard, but was tiring to master all the classes. Some of the bosses however, were very hard and needed certain things in order to beat them, which took a while for me to get (Lv. 5 Death for example).
