Did you use demi's graphics for the cannon ball? Just wondering.

Yea, I used Demi's graphics with part of Shockwave's animation code. So it looks something like this: Shadow steps forward and raises rifle, gunfire is heard, Shadow flies backward and crouches, the main CannonBall flies out of where Shadow was and heads towards the target (note that all this occurs basically at the same time), a trail follows the CannonBall a little later, Shadow rises and moves back to his original position. The trail is just some of the smaller Demi orbs, but they don't follow right after the CannonBall like Blaster...they come later. It's hard to describe.

The complete Dance list can be found on page 14.

Idea: Break status on enemies = death. No, no, no! That's boring! It should change enemy palette to gray and be vulnerable to water damage and absorb earth damage like float make resistant to earth damage. Wanna hack that, anyone? tongue.gif

White flag: Like the name says, the caster shows a white flag and inflicts Escape status on enemies. Poor accuracy but no dark background this time tongue.gif

Some more attacks, a few items, and an enemy!

ATTACKS:
Black Heart: Undead+Seizure on caster.
Psion Burst: HEAVY MP damage on all, plus Muddle (Yes I do love that status effect.)
Grand Finale: Not sure if this is possible or not, but the caster casts ALL summons your party currently has equipped- with the party as the target. Unless the esper produces GOOD effects, of course...
Snacktime! : Kinda like Engulf... except the user is healed of the target's HP worth of damage- and the target loses ALL hps.
hackA: Cuts all the target's stats by 1/10 (not TO one tenth, BY one tenth) and casts Stunned. (See FlashBang for the details on the Stunned status.)
ITEMS:
Drone: Casts 'Scan' on all enemies.
Flashbang: Gives target the 'Stunned' status effect! (Stunned: 10% chance of EVERY move made failing- and it is uncurable!)
ENEMY
Caesar:
Moderate HP/physical related stats, EXTREMELY high MP/magic related stats.
Spells known: All.
Found: Either replaces Magimaster or is a random encounter in Kefka's tower.
Special Moves: Psion Burst, Grand Finale, and hackA.

Goonies: I like the idea for break, however I am near positive it requires ASM. To me, that means impossible. happy.gif I really don't know when White Flag would be used...the enemy could simply use "escape" and run away himself instead of making the entire enemy party run away.

WGG: Snacktime would be easy to make. Which enemy would use it, though? Drone *may* be possible...we'll see if I make it a little later. However, I'm not sure about making a new status effect. Again, ASM comes to mind.

Ahhh I see...get on my good side. happy.gif To be perfectly honest, I have never thought about making myself as an enemy in my hack, but I think you hit the nail on the head here. I would most definitely be a magic user. I would have disgusting counterattacks and some evil normal attacks (dark holy, shadow flare, ultima, psion burst, etc). Psion Burst is a great idea, but I think I may make it DRAIN MP instead of just killing it off. That may, I can let off some serious MP and get it make. The only problem I see here is finding an image to suit me and finding an enemy to replace with myself. Golbez comes to mind, but he can't fight himself, now can he? WGG, you have the list of the changes I made, correct? Well, look them over, and PM me a list of some attacks you think would suit myself, and possibly an image of what you think I would look like. I'll make myself a secret boss, if you'd like. biggrin.gif

Edit
I just finished Volcano. I am pretty satisfied with the results, however I had to erase two of the boulders from land slide to prevent some SERIOUS lag. Amazing what a single FF can do...anyways, here is a screenshot of it in action:

user posted image
Note that the red rocks are coming from the bottom of the screen and then fall to either side and disappear. I may change this later to make it more volcano-like, but is good for now.

I see you decided to go with changing the enemies' colors after all. Very well done.

By the way, what skill is Shadow going to have to replace Throw (Initial throw, not the one he gets from Rifle)?

Haha, Land Slide normally changes their colors, which I was not aware of, but hey, I'm not arguing. For everybody that doesn't know about the deal with the Rifle he's referring to, I changed the Imperial to be the ONLY weapon Shadow can equip. I then gave it the property to change Fight into Throw (credit to T6L for helping out with that thumbup.gif ). So...now Shadow has two Throw commands (they will be renamed into Shoot at a later point). I *may* change the initial throw command into GP Rain so that command doesn't become dummied in my hack. Actually...yea I think I'll do that.

Sweeet... a gun-totin' money-chuckin' ninja. Since Shadow is so vastly different now, why not give 'im a name and pallete change? I'm thinking... red-based pallete, name of Kenshin, and switching Imperial's attack graphic to a katana?

First of all his weapon is the rifle, so there would be no point in making it into a katana. As for when he counter attacks, ect. He shoots and the gun just clicks, because theres no ammo loaded.

As horrible as GP Rain is, I guess it will do. You could opt to give him another command such as Summon (with the patch that fixes it of course), or health or something. I actually want to look into making my own commands, which will probably require ASM. I'm thinking for my hack i'm going to have an improved version of throw (shoot) which can miss, and maybe a few other features. If I ever get around to it that is.

I could probably screw up the damage done by GP Rain if you wish.

Oooo...screwed up GP Rain damage. Well if *you* wish you can do it and I'll use it. I doubt anybody will use GP Rain anyways, although Shadow won't even have an attack until you buy him some bullets.

WGG: I can't change his palette to red, since both Dark Cecil and Golbez use the very same palette, and they have no red at all (well...Golbez has a few pixels of red, but that's all). Although it is tempting to remake Kenshin, a samurai already exists in the game, and shadow is a sniper now. happy.gif Plus, if you've noticed, Shadow's colors are MUCH darker than they were, and I sort of like them as they are now. blush.gif

You should make enemies around where you first get shadow (well optionally of course) drop bullets, (ie on the phantom train, the military camp, enemies on the world map, ect.

What good would screwing up GP Rain be anyway? I guess upping the GP to Damage ratio would help... but still...

There's gotta be one bullet that is ALWAYS usabale- infinte ammo, in other words. Otherwise, Shadow will become a useless money-drain...
...and here it is!
Gunpowder: Low-level of fire damage to one target. This is basically just muzzle flare. Comes with Rifle, has unlimited ammo.

Heh. Not really, as not only would it be weak, but its elemental aspect could be a drawback...

WGG, it DOES sort of take away from the "gun" idea. IIRC, when you first get Shadow in Sabin's scenario, there is a vender nearby who sells shurikens and other goods. You can simply buy some ammo there (bullets, mechgunrounds, a cannonball or two, if you have 10,000 to drop). Either way, using Shadow *will* cost money, sicne cannonballs are not cheap, and neither will the other, more powerful bullets, but he will be worth it. Who wouldn't want an assassin who shoots cannonballs and giant beams out of a rifle?

At this point I would like everybody to scroll up this page and look for WGG's post about me making myself as an enemy. Well, I decided to do it. I will not release ANY information about myself at all, except to WGG. This is what I look like:

user posted image

I tried to make him look as close to Golebz as possible without actually BEING Golbez. Well, when you download my hack (assuming you do when this is finished), you will just have to look out for me, because I am not holding back at all. I will make this boss as clever as I am myself. happy.gif My only advice is: don't fight him/me.

I also have another trick up my sleeve, but this will not be released, either. So many ways to die on the WoR overworld.....

Sorry, but that would take all the fun away from it. I won't be too hard to find, really, and I won't move from that location, so once you fight me, I'll be in that spot the next time (I love talking in the first person instead of the third). What you won't be expecting is when I appear in the final ba....errr.....nevermind.

Did you draw "you"? It looks...rather "sharp," if you will. It needs to be softened up. The drawing itself is magnificent -- fine attention to detail -- but it's too edgy. happy.gif

Mellow, I can't even PRETEND to say that I drew that. I have no artistic skills on the computer at all. That is merely a palette swap of Ex-Death (FFV). I didn't want to import Golbez since he takes up a great deal of space, and since Ex-Death already exists in my hack. If by "sharp" you mean there is too great contrast between the bright yellow and the deep blue shades, then I would agree 100%. However, Golbez does use a yellow color in his sprite, so I felt obligated to use that color, and that is the only shade that seemed to look decent. The more "goldenrod" colors didn't stand out as much. I'll see what I can do about toning it down. Btw, I would also agree with you in saying that great attention is paid to very fine detail in SNES Final Fantasy graphics, in FFIV, V, and VI. I am most impressed with FFVI, however. I mean...just look at final kefka. Who would've thought that that could've come from a 128x128 grid of different colored blocks?

Looks like I attracted a few more new posters. happy.gif Welcome to my thread!

Edit
Is this better?

Yeah, it really does look better. The dark blue and the red make it look nice. Anyway, just for reference I will put a link to the new FFVI animation site, here. It's looking good, I think.

That looks a lot better, Caesar. Good luck with the rest of this project. I, personally, feel like you should add a new attack called Neo-Meltdown.

It fries your ROM instantly and casts Muddle on you. laugh.gif

That was in reference to how big this is getting. I guess the abundance of posts exaggerates the size of the actual hack itself. pinch.gif

Interesting you should mention attacks that affect the ROM directly, since I just....nah nevermind. I'll let you find out when you face me. shifty.gif

I'm not quite sure what to make of this line. Is this a compliment? Or maybe a threat? "If you continue this project, you will become confused and your ROM will burn!". I'm not sure. If it was a compliment, then thank you. If not, then ehhh...can't win 'em all.

Yea, WGG, I know the feeling. I feel weird saying it too. ("You're going to die when you fight me!", "Just hope you don't get into a fight with me", etc). I added some nice "battling" music to the fight as well. Not what you'd call traditional fighting music, but it's my favorite piece in the entire game. happy.gif I am definitely not holding back at all on a fight named after myself. You brought this upon yourself, WGG. laugh.gif

Impossible to shut it down, WGG. Try all you like, it won't happen. happy.gif That strategy is flawless. Just to give you all a glimpse ito your future:

That is what is in store for you. Note that Cecil has well over 140% magic block (it is possible in the game), yet he was the first to die afterwards. More screnshots to come later. biggrin.gif
