I think they work for you because they're already in your cache.
Call it a hunch though, because I'm not a net guru.

That is really sweet, probably the best I have seen so far. Be sure to keep doing more, since I'd love to see how you handle other characters. Or other things, I've always thought it was a shame fanart creators didn't pay more attention to monsters, MagiTek armors, minor characters, etc.

Oh, wait: How about an Esper Terra? You seem to have a liking for drawing naked women anyway (stylefully, I might add), and I'd love to see how that would work out.

Most excellent. One of the best fanarts we have, for sure.

What an entrance! (for bratkitty, I mean). I hope you submit more art. thumbup.gif

Oh, and I looked through your gallery at DeviantArt. And all I have to say is: superb.

I really like your pic. I like your pic so much, I'm going to do a critique of it. I don't do this very often for people, but I feel that your piece warrants one. Please take what I say with a grain of salt, as I say these things not with the intention of inflating/deflating your ego, but with suggestions that you might use in your art work in the future.

**Critique Below**

Overall: One of the first things that strike me about this piece is your style of drawing (and colouring). It's really very engaging piece that's friendly and inviting without having to resort to the common banality of anime style drawing (while still retaining the amusing traces of it especially in the face).

Texture/colouring: This is one of the strongest points of your piece. I really get the feel of the softness of her dress. I can honestly say that this is seldom represented in the far majority of Terra fanarts (or ANY fanart for that matter). Her dress has the soft touch of velvet which adds to the piece. It's nice to see a fanartist use complementary colours in the skin tones which is often ignored. The use of mild tints of blue and purple helps give the shadowing of the skin more depth than can be achieved when using just analogous colours. The weak point I can see in your colouring the piece is in the sash. I feel that it should have a sharper feel to it, with the extensive use of line that you employed around the waist.

Line/contour: You have a strong sense of line throughout the piece but leaving most of the describing to the colour and shading element. I feel that the use of line works best on the upper half of the body. The lower half of the body needs more structure to it (boot excepted). The anatomy could have been more clearly described in the legs.

Shadow/lighting: You use fairly good lighting and shadow techniques (shadow touched upon earlier). Terra has an overall luminous glow to her that lends itself to the character. The area that I was concerned with was the left leg. You have it in front of the boot and coming out towards the viewer. In order for the leg (and the knee with it) to stand out more, a shadow should be cast on the right boot. This will help the boot recede more and the leg pop out. Another thing that might help is if you put greater illumination of the part that's coming out more (ie the left knee). As it stands, both legs (the one in the foreground and background) recieve near equal lighting and shadow.

End note: As everyone else has commented so far, I'd say it's a VERY good job overall. It a bit of fresh air when someone comes in with a new style and approach of doing the characters.

**END CRITIQUE**

That's really good. The overall texture of the picture gives it visual appeal.
I agree with Kame about there needing to be a shadow on the boot.

Wow, thanks guys! biggrin.gif
I just started playing FF6 very recently (like a week ago), and I had to draw Terra.
My favorite character's actually Edgar, I started on drawing him but I was having issues with his hair dry.gif
Yeah, now that you mention the boot, I kind of agree. ^^;
But I'm glad you all like my art so much. ^^ I'll get some mroe up as I draw it. I have a bunch of fanarts from other final fantasies, but this is the only one that would really fit here. ^^;
Oh and I colored this with Photoshop 7 the pattern on her dress were done with a floral brush tool that I have. I just smudged it a bit to blend it. tongue.gif

Oh and I have some Locke and Edgar fanarts that I'm kind of working on right now.
I suppose I could give magitek a whirl. I've never drawn a mech before though.

A magitek would be a creative and very good fanart. I hope to see more.
