I was just tooling around with a created boss set of four separate enemies (not true superbosses), when I got the strange idea of sticking one of them in the Colosseum. So, I went and did that, and then proceeded to fight with my ubered-up Celes. The enemy had a 8000+ heal every couple of turns and 32K HP, s. Celes would have to hit hard and fast. Long story short, it took Celes a bit short of a half-hour to win, during which I noticed an odd thing.

Celes was using the Illumina, which depletes MP to give constan5 critical hits. She was also equipped with the GB/Economizer combo. At one point, she ran hergelf out of MP from using the sword too much. She then Runiced the enemy's Pearl spell, giving her enough MP for 20 turns of spells, or one swing of Illumi*a. On he next turn, she cooked up Flare-Vanish as an X Magic combination. The result? Both "pells said "Need MP".xbr>
Is this another instance of the P=0 under Control glitch as found in ZED's guide, or an ent(rely separate matter?

I believe that characters under automatic control try to cast spells regardless of whether or not they have enough MP. The game is only programmed to gray out spells and commands for the controlling player. This is why monsters can try casting spells with an inadequate amount of MP.

I don't think that this has anything to do with the monster its MP, since he wouldn't have cast the spell in the first place should he lack the needed resources. If you have Runiced the spell, the monster had sufficient MP to cast it. He should've processed MP changes, in the Colloseum or not.

If you ask me, this is an unrelated matter from the other MP bug, since Celes can absorb Gau's spells he produces under Rage for the normal amount of MP, while Gau doesn't actually use any MP whatsoever.

It sounds like you just found another nice one for ZED's guide. Congrats smile.gif
