I've never messed with the Geomancer class before, other than staying in it long enough to get AttackUp. But now I find myself doing a theme-based team, and I have a knight with Geomancy as her second ability. My question is this: Is there any way to increase the chances of a status ailment from Geomancy, and how can I boost the damage from Geomancy? I figure the status ailments probably have no way to bump up the % of success, but I think the damage may be something I have a little control over. Is it based soley on MA? Movement? Speed? PA? Any help would be appreciated, guys and gals.

As for the status ailments, there's indeed no way to improve on it. From my experience, it's inflicted one out of five times...
As for the power of the attack it depends on MA primarily, but also on PA. So it's a good idea to raise both (put an emphasis on MA though, as it is the dominant factor). My recommandation would be Genji Glove, Aegis Shield, Rune Blade, Flash Hat and Robe of Lords. As for abilities, you can put anything you like : Magic Attack Up to increase your damage with Elemental, two Swords (no reason why not : two Rune Blade is very effective, and raise your elemental attacks as well). Blade Grasp as a reaction ability works wonder in conjonction with Aegis Shield. Or there's always the Move MP Up+MP Switch combo. This post has been edited by Mr Thou on 10th July 2004 11:10 |

Thanks Mr. Thou.
The character is Celes, and it's a FFVI theme team. The rune blade is a must... I really like the setup you gave with the Genji Glove, Robe of Lords, and double Rune Blades. I think that's the one I'll go with. Geomancy was the only magic ability that really seemed to fit with Celes as a Knight, so I've got to do all I can to make sure she has at least a halfway respectable secondary attack. Thanks for the input. PS- I've often wondered.... would you care to translate your signature for me? -------------------- Join the Army, see the world, meet interesting people - and kill them. ~Pacifist Badge, 1978 |

Status ailments? HA! It is to laugh. In my experience, I have used Geomancy tons of times (Geomancer/Monks make great soldiers), and status infliction has only worked for me about five times. Four of those times were when I was attacking my own guys to build up JP. I think the only enemy it worked on was a generic soldier who was about ten levels below my guys.
Ah well. Whateryagunnado? I never have any luck getting status attacks to work with Agrias' sword techs, either. Sometimes she silences monsters, but that doesn't do me any good, since monsters don't use magic. Haven't seen Shotgunnova in quite some time..... he could probably give you all the specs for the entire game as far as hit % of status infliction.
