Okay, so I was watching Spike TV last night and it got me to thinking...

I tend to be really picky bout the shows I watch. Aside for adult swim, I don't watch much tv anymore. But the shows I do watch are generally considered of a very poor quality, even though it's obvious that was the whole point. Y'know what I'm talking about, the shows that make people claim that the end of civilization is nigh. This can run the gammut from reality TV to day time 'talk' shows. Sure they're shit, but obviously people are watching 'em.

MXC, Jackass, Viva La Bam, and to a lesser extent Wildboyz are my taste in trash, so what are yours?

Oh and just so's ya know if anyone posts negative about the shows mentioned, I'll ask that the mods delete your post. I don't wann hear it man.

I can't stop watching Wild Boys, Jackass OR Viva La Bam because they're all pretty much the same things tongue.gif.

I used to watch a lot of tv, but pure trash to me, is Dr. Phil. I despise the man with every inch of my being, but for the life of me, I can never change the channel.

Well I watch WWE twice a week (Raw on mondays and Smackdown on thursdays) and occasionally the saturday and sunday programs. And wresting is generally regarded as white trash tv.

I too enjoy Jackass and Viva La Bam because, in the tradition of america's funiest home videos, watching stupid people get hurt doing stupid things will never bore me. laugh.gif

You'd think after 13 seasons of the Real World and Road Rules I'd stop watching, but no, I've kept tuning in when I'm not at work. I've even posted in my live journal about some of the episodes sometimes.

MXC is hilarious! Sometimes I wonder what those Japanese people think when they see what we've done to their precious game show. tongue.gif
If wrestling's on and there's nothing else on, I'll watch it just to stay amused. Other than that, there's not much TV trash that I watch, just good wholesome stuff, like Toonami and Adult Swim. biggrin.gif

MXC is alright. :-) It was on a lot a while ago, for marathons and such.

I absolutely love MXC. It appeals to a man's basest instincts: the desire to see other people perform gratuitously painful activities and a constant barrage of transparent yet hilarious sexual innuendo.

MXC appears to be based on Takeshi's Castle, which is indeed superb trash TV. Over here we have Craig "Lister off Red Dwarf" Charles doing the (mostly lame) voiceovers, but there isn't any attempt to dub over the original dialogue or, as far as I know, rearrange the footage.

porn.

I was under the impression that the U.S. was really conservative about these things. In other words: it suprises me that there is actually porn on your channels. I mean, the pod-smoking and abortion-legalizing Dutchies don't even have porn on tv.

Back to the topic: Basically, I regard anything that appears on MTV as pure trash. That includes previously named shows (Viva la Bam, etc.), but I would like to include 90 % of MTV's videos here as well. They devour my time like nothing else. I don't understand why, actually, since I think that MTV songs generally laugh in the face of art and proceed to @@@ it up the $$$.

It's not on regular TV. You have to order it specially and there's some paid advertisements about porn, like Girls Gone Wild is always on. Those advertisements only come on late at night though during the informercials.

I've come to the point where, as opposed to finding it hard to look away, I can't make myself watch reality TV or porn or wrestiling or yadda yadda. I'll admit that I sit through some mediocre anime (if I don't have to buy it) but I don't view any real trash.

Anything on MTV really. I despise that network soooo much, I think it's responsible for the worst shows on television. And yet, I find that I always put it on for a time, then after a short while I usually quickly change channels in disgust. Then I somehow gravitate back to it...I hate it so.

Well, I'm probably gonna feel stupid for asking, but what's MXC? I'm a little tired I guess. And it's been referenced like 5 or 6 times so might as well clarify it.

Its a show on SPIKE tv. Its where some japanese guys are poorly dubbed commentating in sexual inuendo over stupid competitions where odd groups of people compete.

MXC stands for Most eXtreme elimination Challenge, and it takes footage from the Japanese Takeshi's castle. They were in Florida a while ago, and they also dubbed over that.

I don't have satelite tv currrently (again), so I don't watch much TV at all. But, when I'm at someone else's house, I'm a glutton for Jackass or Viva La Bam. I think they're horrible shows, but yet I still keep watching them..... blink.gif

Heh, well I don't have SPIKE TV, nor have I ever heard of it, so I guess we don't have that kinda thing in Wisconsin. I have digital cable and like 150 channels too.
