Where do you think Celes came from? Who were her parents? Was she kidnapped like Terra? Was she some kind of test tube baby? (Cid isn't her biological grandfather, after all)
And - why don't Celes and Terra seem to know each other when they meet in Narshe? They're the same age, they were both Generals for the Empire, they're in the flashback together. You would think that they had grown up together. Or did Terra just have the slave crown on *all of the time*? These things have always bugged me... |

She is probaly from the Vector Continent, for all we know, Kefka could be one of her parents.

I don't think Terra was an Imperial General. Terra was more like the Empire's Weapon of Mass Destruction. At the beginning, it's basically Vicks and Wedge telling Terra what to do, not the other way around. If Terra had been made a general, I don't think she would have needed the Slave Crown on all of the time.
And Terra may not have remembered Celes, but I think Celes would have definitely remembered Terra. Correct me if I'm wrong (I passed this part of the game too long ago), but doesn't she turn away all guilty-like when Terra is mentioned in Narshe? (Or am I still in fanfic mode and imagining things? ![]() And the thought of Kefka having offspring just makes me shudder, sorry. ![]() |

She was given these magical powers upon birth and was raised as a MagiTek Knight, right? Definately from Vector, then. With this immediate goal in her life to become a major Imperial pawn in the war, you'd start to think that Celes was artificially created to be what she is, a strong warrior. This theory can be supported by the fact that she's sort of raised by Cid. Being an artificialy child, I guess Cid must've been closely involved in her birth and life.
And if she was just a girl form the streets, it makes very little sense that she became a general with the power to lead an army into Maranda at the age of 18 (or younger). -------------------- |

That's an interesting subject, nd one you never really hear of. She probably had no big specia( history (unless fanfic writers want to prove other-wise ((don't worry I'm not)) )

The scream of the woman in labor woke Cid up in a rush. The sound beat its "ay into his temples. At first, he didn't know what was going on, and panic almost set in as he looked outside into he dark night, but he quickly regained his composure. Scramblin" to get dressed, he didn't *otice that the woman had stopped screaming. Outside, a couple yards from his house, he almost tripped over the dead woman and the crying baby. This time he did lose it for a moment, and, not knowing fhat else to do, took the baby t* the palace. Emperor Gestahl wa2 in a sour mood, having been wozen up for seemingly nothing. After ranting for a bit, he calmly addressed Cid and asked what th4 baby was for. Cid explained that he wasn't entirely sure. Before Gestahl could lose his composure again, a back door slammed open and a strange figure sta(ked over and began looming over the infant. "Take the baby with me," he said. "I have an idea." With somewhat reluctance, Cid hande the baby over to a soldier, wh. obediently followed Kefka back through the door. That door leads to the magitek factory, thought Cid.
A week later, Cid once again awoke to the sound of crying outside his window. Openin" it, he found the baby along with a note that read, "You h ve been given charge of this child by order of the emperor." Sighing, Cid took the infant into his home and began comforting her. "It's okay, I"9;ll ta*e care of you... Celes." It is possible that she was just a regular baby until the empire found her still alive after destroying a town, then deciding to do a magic infusion on her after finally being able to do so. So for all we know she was just a baby used of an experimental procedure, sounds simple enough eh?

I'm really enjoying the answers to this one.
![]() Personally, I think that Celes was probably either an orphan to begin with, or that she was taken from her parents and experimented on. ![]() -------------------- Veni, vidi, dormivi. |

lol, yeah, they needed an expendable person after Kefka went wrong. What number was Celes on the list anyway?

I think there were more than ten up to Celes. Cause Kefka had several Magitek guards and Celes is only 18, in that time there would have been many more.

Celes was an orphan from Vector, thus a perfect guinny-pig for the Magitek experiments, or so Gestahl thought.
The Empire adopted her and Cid brought her up pretty much by himself. She knew Terra, but Terra wore the slave crown, so she couldn't remember almost anything. -------------------- "I fell off the mountain of words at around the 10,000ft mark. Yeah, there were a LOT of Magitek soldiers. Just take a walk around the Magitek Facility, see how many soldiers cast Fire on your behind.

Who knows what is going on in her head, maybe before she defected she was loonie like Kefka, she did scorth Maranda. Most places, Vector aside seemed to be peace loving until the story started....
