Shadow only uses the word "Reaper" once, at the very first start when you meet him in Sabin's scenario. "The Reaper is always one step behind me."
Shadow isn't referring to his dog, though. The Reaper in this context indicates the symbol for death, the cloaked skeleton with the massive scythe that's been Death's symbol in the Western culture as well as Final Fantasy in particular. All you have to do is successfully cast 'Doom' to see the Reaper in the game. So all that Shadow is trying to say is: "Death follows my every footstep...so don't mess around with me." The dog's name is Interceptor troughout the game...although Relm calles him "puppie" from time to time I was confused the first time too, so I can understand why you would think this. Back when I first played the game I was a little bit younger, I think the reaper thing confused me a bit too, but I didn't consider it the dogs name. And if I could change the name, I think I'd just leave it Interceptor anyways, cuz dat's a coo name -------------------- Adma <3 CoN |

I always thought that was one of coolest quotes in the game, mainly because of the gaming genre of the time. But, yeah, I didn't even know the dog's name until one time when I played thru the Phantom Train (I never got very far so I kept starting over) and when you eat with Shadow, he talks to Interceptr.

Doesn't Shadow split after you get Cyan? I know I didn't have him at the Phantom Train, but maybe he runs away after you fill an battle quota or something.

It's just a matter of fate...after Cyan joins you, there's a slight chance that Shadow splits after every battle. 1/16, I belive. He can optionally be in your party all the way up to Barren Falls, where he'll leave saying "I've served my purpose".

I think it depends on the number of battles you've had. Because once Shadow left BEFORE the Forest and once I had him with me in Narshe! The majority however I lost him after the Phantom Train.

Quote You actually had him in Narshe? As in, when all your people get togther and fight to protect the esper? If so, that's awesome! Yep. Weird, huh?. When you're introducing them to the Returners he says "Stay away from me...OR ELSE!" or somthing like that. It was sweet! Course at the time I didn't know that it was so rare! EDIT: Sorry guys, didn't mean to start a rumor. I actually saw Shadow on my brothers file in Narshe during the introduction and he DID say something like that. It may have been a weird glitch or he may have done something or whatever. I should clarify this before I post. Wow... I could have sworn that that particular line of dialog doesnt even EXIST within the game! I gueess shadow's supercool ninja powers allow him to reprogram it... Or maybe our good friend Sherick is stringing us along, for a massive laugh.

I didn't know you could do that neither. I've never heard of anyone else keeping Shadow until then. I thought he HAS to leave you by the time you reach the falls.

He does. It''s locked in the coding. Not only does the line of text Sherick listed never appear in the game's memory, but there is an auto-flag. It is IMPOSSIBLE to keep shadow w/o a PAR, or similar.

Sherick, I am about tired of you creating rumors for your own amusement. Thanks a lot for creating a lot of annoyance.

If you get Shadow to narshe, Interceptor will go around and sniff the buildings and he finds General Leo.
General Leo was at the time spying on the returners, and was particularly interested in Terra, so he joins your party in order to get intimate with his new-found fantasy. Before the fight with Kefka, Shadow or Leo cannot be found. The party must fight Kefka's forces, who are dropped in by Daryl from her airship. (the party does not recognize Daryl because they have not met Setzer) During the fight, Kefka's forces are so overwhelming that the party is nearly defeated, until troops of Moogles rise up to help you fight again, this time they have Umaro (he joins your party in the WoB when you do this)! Locke is absent from the day's happenings because he's an alien! Once the moogles and their sasquatch companion defeat Kefka's troops, the fight sequence with Kefka begins. Kefka destroys your party, but Shadow and Leo appear to save you! Shadow and Leo battle Kefka, and are unsuccessful (if you play the Genesis version of FF6, it ends with Shadow and Leo beating Kefka), and all seems bad for our heroes. Out of nowhere, Baram trots into the battle scene carrying a resurrection potion from Jidoor (he is really Shadow's brother and has a momento ring too) and brings your party back to life because he remembers Shadow... When you finally kill Kefka, it's revealed that he is actually Emperor Ghesthal, and Daryl comes by to pick him up. Daryl sees the Emperor injured and mimics Celes's curing spell and heals the Emperor. (remember, Daryl is Gogo) Post-battle sequence, you get a Gamma Sword, which can be thrown during the last battle of the game to kill Kefka instantly, but as you get it into your inventory, Siegfried steals it and Ziegfried laughs at you. With their foes defeated, the party has a Paladin Ring (Siegfried missed it) and CzarDragon joins your party. When approaching Tritoch you realize the esper has a deep dark secret. He's actually Chaos from FF1! The Light Warriors have failed to defeat him and he has broken free from his time loop to unleash destruction upon the world, and the FF6 characters must fight him! Sir Richard summons Tiamant (he's an NPC who fought 4000 Brachosaurs north of the Veldt during the WoR) who makes Paladin Cecil kill Chaos and the world is safe from Ex-Death again! Oh yeah, I did this just the other day and I'm not joking, this is completely true. This post has been edited by FraudulentTommah on 13th May 2004 01:01 |
