Since somebody downloaded the SNES9x emulator onto the computer in our AP Statistics classroom (which our teacher didn't mind us playing games on) along with the Final Fantasy II (US) ROM.

I'm pretty sure it was around 1996. I remember playing FF6 on the snes when I was a little kid.

I had a copy of the first one just after it came out. I was (and still am) so pissed when my brother traded it away.

I deleted the poll since it was useless.
I started playing the weekend FF1 came out, I rented it. I got it about two months later and still have the cart back in Illinois. -------------------- "To create something great, you need the means to make a lot of really bad crap." - Kevin Kelly Why aren't you shopping AmaCoN? |

Eversince I started playing video games. I guess I was 2 or 3 (note, Megaman is possible at that age since it's linear, but FF is much too hard). Of course I got to endlessly push the A button to buy potions, then later delete my cousins game when he was at the end by starting a new one myself.

I first started with Final Fantasy VII, about 3 months after it came out. I never heard of Final Fantasy until this game, since a friend invited me over and wanted me to try it out. I was instantly hooked to it. I found out that there were older Final Fantasy's soon enough, duh. Since then, I now have every Final Fantays, except FF3.

Been playing since about 1993 when a friend introduced me to FF2US. Since then I've played every RPG I can get my hands on.

I went over to my friend's house one day and he was playing FF7. It was at the part in Midgar when you're with Aeris and Tifa drives by in the chocobo carriage. After that, the game just seemed real cool. Especially Sephiroth and Shinra, with the whole conspiracy thing working for them. Took me a while to realize that there actually WERE 6 FF's before it. I was stumped for a while because why would a company start with number 7. (8 came out shortly after, which only added to my confusion). -------------------- The clouds ran away, opened up the sky And one by one I watched every constellation die And there I was frozen, standing in my backyard Face to face, eye to eye, staring at the last star I should've known, walked all the way home To find that she wasn't here, I'm still all alone -Atmosphere "Always Coming Back Home to You" |

The first final fantasy I played was FF3 US, right around 1996. I loved it and played through a couple more times before returning it to my friend. I then went out and played every FF I could get my hands on.

I can't remember when, but I got FFVII for christmas before FFVIII came out. I'd played RPGs much longer (Dragon Warrior 1, 2, and 3) but this was my first FF game. I've since beaten FF V, VI, VII, VIII, IX, X, MQ, and T, as well as a bunch of Non-Final Fantasy RPGs. I'm working on FFIV, and plan to go right down 3, 2, 1. At least until I get X-2.

I first played Final Fantasy for the NES in 1988, a year after it was released. I really didn't get very far in the game (I think I managed to beat Garland in the Temple of the Fiends). It wasn't till 1992 that I really got interested in the Final Fantasy series again with FFIIus. That year again, I attempted to play FFI again, and this time fared signifigantly better but found that the battery in the NES cart didn't work properly (and thus didn't save). I had to play as far as I could while leaving the NES on. That didn't work too well.....
So, I've been playing Final Fantasy for 16 years. ![]() This post has been edited by Kame on 5th May 2004 06:14 -------------------- kame, tortue, tortuga, schildkröte, tartaruga, turtle "Arthur Dent?" "Yes." "Arthur Philip Dent?" "Yes." "You're a total knee biter." |

Played the original when it first came out. 1990 sounds right. It came with a cool poster which immediately got hung up in my room. I took it down before I started dating, thank god.

So, adjusting my date, I played it in 1990 for the first time. I couldn't really remember clearly what year I had played it, so I just assumed what the site said was right. ![]() -------------------- kame, tortue, tortuga, schildkröte, tartaruga, turtle "Arthur Dent?" I'm not sure about the year exactly, but it's been a while. I remember going to a flea market and seeing a cartridge with a small white creature and a sword...looked interesting, and was only $5, so I bought it. Turns out it was FFVI, my now (and will forever be) my favorite game of all time. After playing that, I was hooked. It was my very first RPG.
Soon after I found a brand new copy of FF1 for the NES at another yard sale, unopened for $12. I bought it and played that. Then after that, a video store went out of business and sold all their movies/games. I was fortunate enough to grab their copy of FFIV before it got sold. Those were my first 3 Final Fantasy games, and I still have FF1 and FFIV. Unfortunately, I was soooo hooked on FFVI, that my father ended up smashing it to bits because I never did anything but play the game. ![]() |

I started about a year before FF VII came out...my first FF was on Gameboy, after I played Legends I got a demo for FF VII and bought it as soon as it came out about 6 months later.I don't know what happened to my Non-Greatest hits copy though...I just ordered another on ebay a few days ago though.I guess it's kind of a collector thing.Anyway so uhhh, I guess I started in '96 when I was almost 10.(My first RPG was Dragon Warrior about 3 years before that.)
