Every guide and site I've seen claims that Apandas can fly (including CoN). Can they? I'm not at the point in the game where I can fight them yet, and I don't conclusively remember whether I have seen them lift off in previous FFT runs...

The way I recall it, Apandas don't fly : you encounter them in the story battle at the Miberry Castle Gate, and they just walk down on you if they feel like it (they mostly cast Bio spell, though). I've never seen them fly, and the other Apanda like character in the game (the Byblos monster) can't fly either, so I doubt it.

Aerostar's Battle Mechanics Guide (on GameFAQs, among other places) says Apandas have Counter, Cannot enter water, Ignore Height, and Short Charge, and they are immune to Invite, Blood Suck, and Float. The Byblos (the one you get), however, has Secret Hunt instead of Short Charge and isn't immune to Float.

Yeah, I don't remember reading that on any other site, including here. Mind showing me where it is so I can fix it sometime?

You can find it here.
Apandas don't have wings either, so that should be a big tip-off. -------------------- It's gonna be a glorious day I feel my luck can change |

I do dabble in the observational arts.
![]() -------- And about Byblos: Any monster that has hydrophobia but can be hit with Float, must be some kind of mistake. Think of what you'd do if you moved them over a water space and used Dispel Magic. They'd fall into the water and either freeze the game up or be able to take no actions (or maybe have a turn?) That leads me to believe either Byblos can enter the water or cannot be hit by Float. I'll have to check it out unless anyone else can answer it. -------------------- It's gonna be a glorious day I feel my luck can change |

Thanks, y'all. While we're on the subject of errors, though, why is it that everyone (by which I mean Internet walkthroughs) is convinced that the Gemini Lucavi Demon is named 'Zalera' as opposed to the correct, in-game spelling, 'Zarela'? (An error also found on CoN...)

My guess is that it's part of FFT's numerous mistakes. I think the Zodiac Brave Guide lists it as 'Zalera', also. It just sounds more right than 'Zarela', I guess; it's less cumbersome and stumbly.
Hehe, a correct, in-game spelling is usually an incorrect mistranslated spelling ![]() -------------------- It's gonna be a glorious day I feel my luck can change |

They don't fly, the walk. you might think they fly because in riovanes castle with celia and lede they appear, 4 of them. they start atop the pillars the height diff is 7, it looks like they fly but they have high jump movement. you also meet them in the story battle in THE END

Oh, you must be talking about Limberry Castle, not Riovanes. Yeah, they have innate Ignore Height, but it's still hard to imagine someone getting jumping confused with wing-flapping, etc.
