i was sitting around thinking, and realized that a chocobo would make a cool pc character. Do you think that Square-Enix should add a chocobo as a PC to future FF games?

No, I don't. I prefer games without animal characters, and chocobos were intended to be animals.

I'd have to say...no. Unless it was a human-chocobo crossbreed warrior or something. That'd be kind of cool.

I think it's be kinda interesting to see an intelligent chocobo, y'know, one that could speak... Basic (it can't be called English, there's no England in FF), and it can give you rides for free.
I'm all for the idea, just so long as Sqaure could handle it correctly. Quote (William) Unless it was a human-chocobo crossbreed warrior or something. Hmm... "chocobo" summons) so why not

I like the idea of having a chocobo as a PC...Like on FF:T. He can decimate people with choco attacks, or people could ride them, for a great boost in stats, but it'd cost a lot of gil. Or you could put a chocobo in a spot on the party, and one could get on there and combine them 2 as 1 character.
And then, it could like, be armed with little moogles...all armed to the teeth in like Uzis and Grenades...That would be awesome. -------------------- "I don't need to be a global citizen, 'Cuz I'm blessed by nationality. IMO I think they kind of crashed and burned on letting a Chocobo be a playable character in Tactics, I think they sucked in Tactics...if they did put them in a different game as playable characters I think they should have better skills, but I don't know I mean I love Chocobos and all but I don't really think the idea of you being able to use them in battle is all that great.

No. Chocobos are so limited. What kind of weapons/armor could you give it? A beak cover and a saddle? What kind of character development could there be?

I see many of you haven't played Tactics, where you actually do get a chocobo in your party. They can work on their own. Imagine a character you can combo with CT style. There is actually a lot of room to have a chocobo in your party. It just requires a little thought. Perhaps you'd prefer if Square Enix just starting using the same formula all the time with different but yet sickly similar characters. Oh. Wait.

You could have the chocobos either attack on their own, or have them let a party member hop on the back of them for a combo-type attack or something. That'd be sweet. Well, FFT did have chocobos, there's no denying that, but they were of the generic sort. It's not like they have any actual meaning in the plot (Not even Boco, really)
Personally, I would love to see a Chocobo character. One with personality, speech abilities, special skills, etc. Maybe even usable for transportation? ![]() -------------------- It's gonna be a glorious day I feel my luck can change |

I don't think I could handle a chocobo playable character. When I first started playing FFV, I thought that Boco would be with your party permanently... this brought me incredibly anguish. Luckily, I was proven wrong.
It's not that I hate Chocobos–on the contrary, I actually think they are really excellent additions to the Final Fantasy universe. I just don't think I could deal with a character that would randomly go "WAAARK!" Mutated Chocobo? Bleh. -------------------- Je ne t'aime plus, Mon amour... Je ne t'aime plus, Tous les jours... |

For a while now, I was wishing there could be a Final Fantasy game wherein the playable characters were all the "traditional" monsters you fight in the series, and all the enemies were humans (various job classes could compensate for variety).
Boco and Mog would be the starting characters, but as the game went on, you'd end up recruiting a Moomba, a Tonberry, a Cactuar, maybe even a Malboro. The only human you would play as would be an Onion Knight (every human team needs a pet monster, so a team of monsters needs a pet human). Maybe Pupu the alien, and Cait Sith could be factored in some how. Or not. Meh. Whatever. As far as summons, go, they could be more or less human versions of the traditional summons (many of which are humanoid anyway). My first impression of this game would be a serious plot line, but would probably have tons of comedic moments (not necesarily a lighthearted kiddie game, but with lots of running gags and injokes). At any rate, it would be an actual Final Fantasy epic, not just some kind of Chocobo Dungeon rip-off, nor just another Tactics version. Of course, such a game would probably sell poorly, especially if it was designed to appeal to people who are already fans of the series; that is to say, those who are new would likely not fully appreciate it if it was the first game they picked up. Anyway, getting back to the point, a game like this would be probably be the most fitting for a playable chocobo character. Moogles as playable characters are one thing, since they are basically human-like, but as one person said Chocobos are meant to be animals; using them as playable characters would be rather limiting. They are best as rides, or as summons if you are going to use them. -------------------- And behold, I saw a Pale Gaming System, and the name of he who rode it was Squaresoft, and Enix followed him. |
