I was just wondering about obtaining Gau's rages on the Veldt, specifically pertaining to the frequency in which a monster shows up.
I currently left the Floating Continent to get the Behemoth rage for Meteor, but rarely run into the creature (I have seen him once or twice on the Veldt, that's it). Is there any way to increase the chances of a certain creature showing up? Does having fewer party members increase the chances of harder, rarer monsters making an appearance? Must I have the people in my party that were there when the monster was encountered? Hopefully, someone will be able to answer this (I am expecting i90east, the resident Gau master). EDIT: nevermind, heh. It seemed as if, for me, it went through the monsters in the order that I fought them in (though I know that is not what normally happens, I think). After going through the monsters pretty sequentially, I finally got to the airship enemies and then floating continent enemies. Now the question I pose is: Does this normally happen? Is there normally a sequence of monsters on the Veldt that parallels the order in which you saw them in the game? ![]() This post has been edited by Stephen the Third on 2nd May 2004 19:22 -------------------- Je ne t'aime plus, Mon amour... 'Kay, !90east, try 'nd top this:
The monsters you meet on the Veldt aren't random. Each monster formation is listed in a Group. Each Group has 8 monster formations in it. The monster formation you meet on the Veldt depends on the Groups: a random monster formation is picked from for example Group no. 4. Monster formations that you haven't met yet are skipped. If a Group has only monster formations in it that you haven't met yet, the Group is skipped and the next Group is picked. When you have fought a monster formation in Group no. 5, the next battle will be a random monster formation from Group 6. You'll go down the list this way until you meet a Group which has a monster formation in it you have already met. So unless you know exactly in what Group the Behemoth you want is in (there are two monster formations with a Behemoth in it) and what group you currently are in, you won't be able to do anything to increase the chance of meeting Behemoth. If you're persistent, go visit http://www.rpglegion.com/ff6/index.htm (maintained by Terii Senshi). The Algorithm FAQ contains a list of the Groups and the monster formations listed in them, and there's also a Veldt Monster Finder to be found here, although I can't get it to work properly myself. -------------------- |
