Ok..I am stuck at Golgorand Execution Site just to get to the point. I've played FFT 3 times and beaten it each thanks to Agrias + Other Special People *cough*CID*cough*. Now, I am at the Golgorand Execution Site battle and I'm stuck. I totally wanted this game to be harder/different the 4th time I'm playing it. SO, I threw away Agrias when I got her!! Now in my party have 5 people: Ramza(My Knight..dunno why though) thumbup.gif AN archer, another knight, a wizard, and Boco!! biggrin.gif. Now, how do I beat this battle without Agrias?? I'm stuck like crap and can't beat it..Any suggestions?

First of all, you need to break or steal Gafgarion's sword, this makes the battle much easier. Ignore the time mages and take out the knights and archers. I find the battle easier if you move away from the tunnel area and draw the knights to lower ground. Monks are effective in this battle if you have earth slash because of the fairly flat ground.

bah thats the easy way out. do what i do, in the beginning at mandalia plains, all i did was level up to 50. but i have a cool system out of a group and mastered their jobs i chose for them forever. and now at the site it was very very easy. stole his sword and killed everyone else. not too hard now is it? and agrias aint to great.

I wouldn't call Gerad's strategy the "easy" way out. His way requires forethought and planning, as opposed to just leveling your problems away.

well yes he did some planning but. Leveling is harder then devising a plan for attack. (at least to me) leveling takes me like 14 hours to get to the point i want my characters and stuff. making a plan to kill some guys takes 3 mins. if that. oh and by the way, can you take my warnings off? ive been behaving.

Well agrias does make the battle a lot easier, and since you don't have her now here is a way to do it

have ramza master the monk and use Earth slash/wave fist on gafgarion
send someone around on a chocobo to kill the time mages
and have two knights go around killing everyone else

*plus have ramza learn teleport
have all characters with auto-potion and all types of potions learned

Good Luck

As said above, I would definitely recommand to take out Gafgarion very fast (the blood sword is a nice addition at this moment of the game, but if it's too hard then don't steal it).
Second, it's a necessity to have good healing power for this battle, because Gafgarion can cause much damage, and so can the knights and archers. Due to the fact that most of the field is flat, a good monk or 2 is a must have, since they have good attack power and can use Chakra and Revive (wich both require to be on the same level as the target to work).
I also have an alternative attack plan that I used once : it involved using either Ignore Height or Teleport (respectively for warriors and for mages), rush to the Time Mages and wipe them, and then kill the remaining forces by holding the upper part, casting summons on them and pouring arrows on them. My team was a Summoner, an Archer, a Monk, a White Mage and Ramza as a Lancer. It worked wonder.
But my usual strategy involves a Ninja with Steal skillset, Ramza as a Lancer with Punch Art, a Monk, a Summoner and a Wizard with Time Magic (or Math Skill if I did some level up before that point). I steal the Blood Sword quickly, launch a good wide summon on the middle of the field (it usually hit Gaf, but also prevent the knights from approaching too much, hit from afar with my Monk, use Haste with my Wizard and go hand to hand with Ramza (Blade Grasp is definitely a plus in thiw battle). When Gaf is mugged, my 2 mages go up to the ennemy time mages, and the rest of the party wipe the remaining forces, begining with the archers.

You don't have much apparently in choices of characters, so I would say that Boco is your designated healer, Ramza can remain a Knight but would do good if you could make him a Monk or a Ninja. The wizard will be essential in bringing down the knights, so I would let him that way. As for your other knight, same advice as for Ramza. The archer can be put to good use, if you have decent Support ability (Concentrate would allow you to aim at the knights, but Attack Up would be better IMO).
Anyway, good luck.

I've found having a decently trained Lancer is amazingly helpful in this battle. I know it's inefficient, but you don't need Horiz. 9 and Vert. 9 at this point. Just having Horiz. 6 and Vert 3. should cover you pretty well for this battle. Also a spear has just become available so the +1 range on your attacks should treat you better than just a regular knight. Also, in response to something else mentioned on this topic, actually planning and exectuting a battle at a normal level is alwaysmore difficult and satisfying than blindly leveling up.

hey ninjaglad you are back

well i always had agrias in this battle but she didnt do much since my party owned without her

what i do i have everyone go for gafgarion first while my mage does some freaky stuff to the knights and i just run away from the time mages slow. always take out gafgarion first i usually do it with agrias but i guess ramza is your only choice just get him in clos ecombat with a good sword and hit him a couple of time, and if ramza can be hasted it would make him attack him more than he can. I usually try to take him out before he satrts talking the second time. i dont know i havent played that part in a while. if you get gafgarion quickly take out the archers second cause they are annoying i can run from anything but then and mages. after archers knights and always save them time mages for last. i believe this battle is the first toughie which you need to level up before a lot.

By this time in the game you should have a gun correct?
I find the best healer in the game to be a chemist.Guns can be alot more useful than bows.Boco's pretty good, but I must admit that I don't use monsters thourgh the course of the game.
Ramza is best a knight or a lancer with his Guts ablity equipped.(SCREAM!) and yes,of course take out Gafgarion first. You can ignore him if you break, or steal his sword.
Monks are great for support in this battle, keep them healthy, they die fast.
Summoners are great, but they take too long to charge,Counter this with the Time Mages quick charge and you should be fine.

My memory may have suffered a bit, but is Scream available at this point? I seem to recall that it's a Ch. 4 thing.

Anyway, I think I had gotten lucky against Gafgarion, I had at least one thief who was pretty compatible with him and had decent steal percentages, so there's definitely some luck involved there. I believe everyone else in my party was monks and summoners, to damage the enemy knights and archers from distance. I also started a summoner underneath the overpass/bridge structure (where the time mages hang out), and she was able to summon on them from beneath their feet.

Scream is definately not available at this point. Yell and Accumulate are however. I would not recommend using them to stat boost for this battle though. You are severly outnumbered and to win you need to even the odds fast, that means either taking out gaff or wiping some of those archers and knights off the battlefield ASAP.

There's something bothering me about Golgorand, on the top of where the archer disguised as Ovelia was, i think there's a powerful weapon there or a special item, has anyone noticed that?

biggrin.gif Bring a summoner at this battle cause they know carbunkle and golem!
golem will work nicely because duh the arrows won't so will the blades! no luck no chance for knights and archers! biggrin.gif
go with the monks also earth slash great for flat ground yep yep!
break or steal Gaff's weapon I go with break 'cause theives are not really useful for the rest except to steal their sensible hearts if it works!
never use a lancer in this battle no way too hard... the time mages will do haste to make them faster and ya won't have a chance to jump.
use guns here and a healer too it won't be so hard except the first time I played it...

This is the same guy, that posted the "secret" involving getting all the workers. I wouldn't take much stock in his statement about an ambigous powerful weapon on top of a platform you can't reach.
