Hmmm... I haven't played all of them yet. But I did play ten. And I have to agree with you, it sucked!.

I'd say 10-2 takes the cake, but since you're putting it together with 10 itself, I cannot choose it. Personally, I loved FF10.
Not counting sequels then, I'll have to say 8 is the worst yet. While it isn't as infuriating as 10-2, it's just... bad. Weak storyline, a bunch of boring and utterly annoying characters (with a few exceptions of course), and even a bland battle system. Its only redeeming quality is the beautiful soundtrack. -------------------- Random game quote of the day: "Wilt thou change this world... Or wilt thou change thyself?" (Water Dragon, Chrono Cross) |

I voted Final Fantasy 8. Because there was too many things, and it was confusing and the story felt really long and boring.
I don't know why someone voted Final Fantasy 7 as worst. It's not as good as Final Fantasy 6 but it had alot of things that are good in it. And 2 votes for Final Fantasy 10... that's not right because to me FF10 is one of the best Final Fantasy there is. And FFX-2 sucks in my opinion. So don't get the two games mixed up. |

I can't choose a worst FF game 'cuz most of them are masterpieces in their own way. 10-2 I'd say is the worst, but I loved FFX and couldn't vote that in, so I just voted for FFVII. Not that the actual game sucked (I thought it was masterfully done), but becuase with the FFVII Compilation, it had way too much praise.

I voted VIII, but X comes in as a close second.
Both games have horrible protagonists, casts of characters that I sometimes want to strangle to death and somehow don't feel right to me. VIII, however also has a terrible system and a ludicrous plot twist. -------------------- "I fell off the mountain of words at around the 10,000ft mark. FFX would have been a lot better if it wasn't a FF. As for the worst, 8 is by far the worst. What kind of game stops you at level 100 AND gives common enemies level 5 doom.

Quote (Maclizard @ 12th February 2008 16:36) FFX would have been a lot better if it wasn't a FF. As for the worst, 8 is by far the worst. What kind of game stops you at level 100 AND gives common enemies level 5 doom. Wow, somebody makes an interesting point in this ancient argument. If you wanna talk annoying protagonists, 10 takes it. None of the characters are believable, although perhaps Seymour is just over the top enough to be. The love story is really pushed in this one without much of a logical lead-in (even 8's was better) and the game itself is pretty much just a string of cinemas and boss battles broken up with some walking and (albeit) challenging random battles. To top it off, the game really ends quickly. The upside of course is that the battle system is awesome, and the Sphere Grid is inventive, if a bit tedious. And cummon people, VII is far from the worst. -------------------- I fear my heart and fear my soul Life goes on, it surely will, Without me and I wonder: Will I ever see light again? I voted for X because of X-2, which was utter crap for a FF game. X itself was mediocre and in my opinion too short and would probably be the second worst in the series since I really don't have any complaints with the other games in the series

My vote goes to 8, at least with FFII it was just boring, not a complete asinine experience I had to force my way through.
I think the biggest disappointment came when I though Irvine was going to be the saving grace,(While he had a bit of the Edgar/Edge personality showing) but less than 15 minutes later, I was proven wrong. and of course I could rip VIII apart, but that post would be too long. -------------------- "Have you ever seen a baby do that before?" |

I stuck X down because of Tidus and the crew. They really didn't get off to a good start with voice acting in the series. Because of the drudgery of the scenes and Tidus' voice, I can't actually play the game anymore. I can sometimes still play VIII though - I really liked it when it first came out - so I'd put it above. I haven't played FFII and I don't think I will after all the criticism it receives.
But with FFX, seriously, it takes a good three minutes for Tidus to be arrogant, and then another three for Auron to look at him and be reminded of Jecht (but not say anything interesting), then another three for Yuna to nod and murmur, then maybe if you're lucky you get Lulu muttering "idiots all of you" from the corner. At least with VIII you can rapid tap the X button and fly through the banter. -------------------- Scepticism, that dry rot of the intellect, had not left one entire idea in his mind. I voted 8 simply because if it were possible I would beat Squall down with a hockey stick and throw that stupid gunblade in a compacter. Whoever designed that...let's just say I have a few obscene things I can say about the gunblade.
And VII was definately not the worst. I know the English dialouge was horrible and the plot was typical, but the music was catchy, the battle system wasn't bad at all and while Sephiroth himself was kind of a punk, other bosses, like the Turks, were freakin' awesome |

Yes I voted FFXII. The battle thing was really irritating and the game is so looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong I end up stopping for boredom for a little while. Then go back, get a little further, and stopping again. FFVIII wasn't great, but it wasn't truly awful, although it gets quite a bashing from most of us for just being after FFVI + FFVII in the FF alphabet. The whole Limit Breaks and Drawing Magic sucked but the card game was sort of fun. |

Yeah, VIII wasn't the worst game ever, but I hate most of the characters (except Biggs and Wedge...they rock lol) and I really hate the gunblade. Something about it just bugs me. And I didn't care much for drawing magic, but I learned to deal with it. The card game was kinda neat, but I sucked at it

I will stand by FFVIII as my favorite FF.
my least favorite wasn't listed, so i was forced into a null-vote. yes, i can't stand FFV. i couldn't even finish it. there is no plot at all, the dialogue makes me sick, and the characters are the worst in the series. -------------------- Currently Playing : Final Fantasy V Most Recently Beat : Elder Scrolls: Skyrim Favorite Game : Final Fantasy X The newest CoNcast is up! Nulled vote. Most of the games have their charms and merits. I found it hard to just choose one to 'rag' on for a viable reason. There were some I was tempted to 'rag' on...
I could say FFVII, but it would be solely because of a knee-jerk reaction to it's 'over-hypedness' and the ending I disliked so much and the villain that I didn't give a rat's a** about. But it's a decent enough one otherwise. FFV has an lame plot and characters. But gameplay is great and jobs are surprisingly well balanced except in the GBA version. However, since I'm convinced V is a parody of FF in general, the plot and characters aren't nearly as lame when you realize the absurdity of it all. (Really now, Gilgamesh? ExDeath? Total parodies.) FFVIII has a lot of reasons to claim it as the worst. Gameplay unbalanced and/or tedious. Characters are reduced to limit breaks for the most part. The plot is thin enough to use as paper. Some sequences are brilliant however, the Laguna sequences (the first one especially), most of the third disc and the ending are personal favorites. Triple Triad was awesome, except when all the insane plus/same, same wall, etc rules come into play. So yeah, I'm too wishy-washy to declare one 'the worst.' Even Mystic Quest had some awesome music. I think I'd have to say FFIV. Out of all of the Final Fantasies, FFIV was the one that I could never be bothered even trying to complete. FFII comes as a close second, but that had some adaptability to it that redeems it. Barely.
FFI was engaging, I found. Though it gave you no clues as to where to go next and what to do half the time, it was still fun enough to carry on playing. I didn't hate it, but I didn't love it. It was playable. FFII bugged me. I found myself constantly stopping to level up and get stronger. It irritated me slightly. FFIII, haven't played. FFIV... Ugh. Where to start? The battle system was slow, the unique commands to each character got dull, the story dragged on forever and the constant character swapping irked me so much. I disliked doing the same thing over and over every single fight. Everything was so Deus Ex Machina it hurt. FFV was one of my favourites. Fantastic music, good job system, the story was good enough... Sure, Bartz bugged me to hell, but the rest of it was good. I especially loved Gilgamesh, Exdeath and their respective themes. FFVI definitely my favourite Final Fantasy. Music is second to none, the characters were memorable, the story was excellent. I loved it. FFVII was disappointing, but not bad. I enjoy playing it, though not for extended periods of time. FFVIII was my first Final Fantasy. I like it. The junction system makes things a bit too easy at times, and if you rely on Limits and GFs the game gets dull. I never do that any more though, 'cause I'm a good boy FFIX irked me with its classes. I hated having to pick certain characters for certain abilities. In the end, I picked the characters I liked and managed with them instead. While in Terra, though, I think the game is awesome, but other than that, it's average. FFX is good, the battle and level system is fun, the plot is good enough. The characters irritate me though. FFXI haven't played, can't say. FFXII was fantastic. Still not my favourite, but it's damn well close. The battle system is fun, as are the Hunts. The plot was good enough, though slightly... questionable, to say the least. Urgh, long post. Kinda. |
