I vote yes, but not because I would skip the story, but because sometimes you accidently click New Game instead of Load Game, then you have to wait for the intro to end so you can quit and load your game.

I like them, so I don't care if I skip them, in FFX U can skip the intro, when Tidus starts talking. But somethimes I wish I could skip the intro.

I voted no mostly because they are all great plus say you are playing the game for the first time and you accidently press a button and it skips the intro and you are like "GOD NO WHAT HAPPENED?" So it is better to keep it, man you all need some patience.

The point about accidentally skipping it is fair, and something I was thinking about, so why not allow a button combination that you'd be unlikely to hit by accident for this purpose? Much in the same way that some/all(?) of the trigger buttons plus select plus start trigger a soft reset.
It'd be handy if you're going through because you actually want to play those small sections which can be classified as "game" within a Final Fantasy, if you already know what happens in the dialog that you normally spend 90% of your play time pressing buttons to dismiss. Such a thing is also useful for quick runs through to check data, write guides, that sort of thing. Still, if you're using an emulator, you can accomplish something similar using fast forward functions. |

Eh, why not? If you don't want to watch it, it's your loss.
I agree with Tiddles. You'd want to either make it a button/combination of buttons that were unlikely to be pressed unintentionally (there's nothing more irritating than trying to pause and actually ending a cut scene instead), or to make the intro skippable if you've already played the game (the way Shadow of Destiny handles cut scenes). -------------------- Veni, vidi, dormivi. |

I vote no, mainly because I like to watch the intro scenes, as they normally add to the story. I agree with what someone else had said...just have patience.

I voted yes , but not just for hitting start and then bam it's skipped...revert back to Tiddles' post for my opinion, I agree with Tiddles.

meh, I'm indifferent on the topic, I personally like the intro scenes in FF games, but I can understand why some people would want to be able to skip them, so my vote is i don't care.

First off.... Someone complained about hitting "New Game" instead of "Load Game." You don't have to wait for the Cutscene to finish... Just press R1+R2+L1+L2+Select+Start and the game will reset. Otherwise I like the cutscenes, any cutscene to me is fun partially just to see the graphics. Although I REALLY like Final Fantasy 8's opening, despite the games overall lousy plot until the middle of the third disk. Otherwise I say suck it up people, =P. If you're gonna start a new game all over, then you probably haven't played it in awhile and want to start over again... It's kind of like watching a movie. Most people don't tend to see the same movie twice in one day or anything... Well most people aren't gonna start another game of Final Fantasy relatively quickly either. In which case seeing the cinematic won't hurt you a bit.
