All of the ones I have for PSX are the original versions except for FFT. I had the original FFT, having preordered it when it came out, but I sold it when I heard that the GH version was coming out. I needed the money and made $40 profit in the deal.

I have all originals excluding FFT, also. The gameplay doesn't change when a game gets the 'Greatest Hits' marker stamped on it, so I never really cared, but I guess you can get a sense of self-complimenting at having bought it early.

I have all the PSX and PS2 FFs in non greatest hits form, except FFT. For me It just makes my collection look better. The green throws it off. The PS2s red isn't as bad, but I prefer it all to be the original black.

I have all the PSX FFs. My FFIX and FFT copies are greatest hits, but my FFVII and FFVIII are not.
What is the difference between Greatest Hits and Original, other than that little green thing on the... "spine"(?)? -------------------- "I had to write four novels before they let me write comic books." -Brad Meltzer |

I have FF Origins and Anthology original versions, and I have Greatest Hits versions of Chronicles, VII, VIII, IX, Tactics, and X.
As for your question, DP, I've noticed that GH versions have black-and-white manuals (photos being B&W, where they were originally color), with the exception of FFVII. Also sometimes, as with FFIX, the actuals game discs are different. On the original IX game discs, there are pictures of characters, whereas with GH, there's nothing. -------------------- "I sat alone and I didn't care, I sat two years in the same old chair, I saw three roads but didn't know, Which way to go-go-go" My Coco, stellastarr* |

I think a "Greatest Hit" is one that has sold more than some number of copies, DP and changeofheart.

My copies of FF IX and *shudder* VIII are original. I jumped the gun on both of them, getting each immediately. As a consequence, FFVIII is sitting around collecting dust in some dark closet. I'm just glad that didn't stop me from getting FFIX so quickly.

All of mine(VII-X, T) are the versions. However my VIII had a glitch in the 3rd disc, so I went ahead and got the greatest hits, so I have two copies of that.

all my playstation ff's are originals, i got one of the last original pressings of 7 before it became a greatest hit, and i bought 8 and 9 immediately when they came out.
ive always found that games seem to lower in price a bit once they become a greatest hit. -------------------- You watch the world exploding every single night Dancing in the sun, a newborn in the light Say goodbye to gravity and say goodbye to death Hello to eternity and live for every breath Your time will come... |

Yeah they do lower in price, sometimes by 50% (and sometimes just by 25%). I have no greatest hits and I own FFO, FFC, FFA,FF7 through FFX2, but I have yet to buy Tactics, so I guess I'll find it used or get my first greatest hits.
When I first got FF7, it was already out on greatest hits, but I got it at Funcoland and was stoked that it had the original packaging (green clashed with the cover-art). -------------------- Get me off this Disciplinary Committee so I can play any FF except for FF8!!! |
