Well, not long ago I got a new computer but couldn't transfer what was starting to be a pretty extensive music collection over. In some ways, however, it's a good thing, as I've had the opportunity to filter out the crap and build my library up with some great new bands and tracks.

I'm enjoying Boards of Canada's Campfire Headphase album lately, particularly 'Satellite Anthem Icarus.' They're kinda in the vein of Air and Sigur Ros, which I like, but less electronic and more ambient than the former and less emotive and more electronic than the latter. It's not a bad album at all.

Devin Townsend's 'Babysong' is way up there these days. This guy fronts heavy metal outfit Strapping Young Lad, who I'm not really partial to, but his solo stuff is nothing short of genius. This is a hilariously well-produced metal lullaby, full of uplifting, thundering riffs.

Miles Davis - Dear Old Stockholm is a song I picked up along with a 'best of' on a real whim. It's just nice background music, but the reason this song in particular tops the list is because of the awesome double bass in there.

After hearing songs from it used in numerous TV adverts, I picked up Moby's first album, Play, and was instantly struck by just how bluesy it is - it shouldn't work, but it does, and works so very well. My pick would definitely have to be 'Run On,' if only because the vocals remind me of the crows from Dumbo. I liked them as a kid.

Sigur Ros - Vidrar Vel Til Loftarasa. Now this is just a beautiful song. I picked up the album Agaetis Byrjun kinda recently, and this is just such a compelling, majestic and ethereal song. I'm going to see these guys live, and I pray that they play this, it's just incredible and one of the many reasons these guys are probably my favourite band right now.

I got an advance copy of The Strokes' new album First Impressions of Earth back in early December, and I must've listened to the last track Red Light about fifty-odd times now. To me, it's The Strokes at their finest, with that signature guitar sound, walking bassline, kinda offbeat drums, all packed together in 3 minutes 11 seconds of one of the greatest melodies I've ever heard, ever.

right now, my favorite artist of all time is a very little known rapper by the name of Papoose. if there's anyone on these forums who is into rap music, even a litte, i suggest you give this guy a listen. you will NOT regret it. before Papoose came along, i seriously thought that the south had the best freestyler in the game, by way of Lil Wayne. not anymore.

Papoose - Alphabetical Slaughter: the illest freestyle EVER! basically, DJ kay Slay shouts outs the letters of the alphabet, and Pap freestyles using only words that start with that latter.

Busta Rhymes feat. Lloyd Banks and Papoose - Touch It (Kay Slay remix): a remix of Busta's current song Touch It. very much worth a listen.

Ne-yo - So Sick: a nice little R&B song by the writer of one of my favorite R&B songs of all time, Mario's "Let Me Love You".

T.I. - ASAP: always good for a listen from of the South's hardest heavyeights

T.I. - Motivation: like the beat, like the lyrics, nuff said.

Weezer - Only In Dreams - Such a beautifully written song, it is now my favorite Weezer song, and that's saying a lot considering the strength of their Blue Album, Pinkerton, and several choice favorites from Green Album and Make Believe. Maybe I like it so much because it makes me think about this girl I work with all the time and really have become infatuated with, but can't get close since she's already taken. Oh well, my day will come, I will plot their breakup soon enough thumbup.gif

Tool - Crawl Away - It's fast, it's heavy, and it comes at ya hard, especially with the kickbooty drum solo near the end, making this at the front tier of Tool's library, which is the strongest collection of songs by a band that I have ever seen.

Ted Nugent - Stranglehold - This is a recent find, and is a great song to have playing while just kickin back and enjoyin life.

The Walkmen - The Rat - Another recent find, I don't know much about the band other than that I love this song.

I don't know why, but I just pulled out an old compilation cd and just started listening to it again. Great instrumentation, plus a lot of that weird fusion-jazzy stuff they're infamous for.

Kamelot - "March of Mephisto"
Orphaned Land - "Ocean Land"
Iced Earth - "Damien"
Iced Earth - "Dracula"
Final Fantasy X - "Otherworld"
High and Mighty Color - "Ichirin no Hana"

Tool - "Schism"

Sonata Arctica - "Broken"
Safri Duo - "Played-a-Live (The Bongo Song)"

There. Narrowed it down to 15. But I do have a lot more. Most of those listed are metal, but there are a few that are not. Safri Duo is some good electronica music, focusing on drums. Hitomi Shimatani & High and Mighty Color are both japanese bands. The "Ichirin No Hana" song is the current opening song for the anime, Bleach; and the "Falco" song is the old opening for the anime, Law of Ueki.

What a big surprise, my all time favorite song...

Rage Against The Machine - Bulls On Parade

I listen to many different songs as I usually just "shuffle" the songs on my IPod, but some bands that I've been listening to frequently have been...

Astral Projection, Audioslave, Cold, Finger Eleven, Infected Mushroom, Lostprophets, System Of A Down

Lostprophets - The Fake Sound Of Progress is probably the most played CD in my stereo/IPod.

The corner bends into the perfect dog ear
As if the words knew I'd need them again
But at the time, I didn't see it."

Just came over from the FF Gurus, heh.

Anyways, there's too many songs I like right now. However, I enjoy listening to a lot of classic rock such as the Eagles and the Stones. The song "Lyin' Eyes" is my new favorite right now. -CSM
