Although I really like Voyager *gets odd glares from friends who hate it for no good reason* as well as DS9, Next Generation hooks me in the most. I'm not really sure why, I think it's the characters, mostly.

I too like the Next Generation series. The cast flowed very well together, and they had an excellent run. I never really got into the newer ones, but because of my father I have seen my share of episodes of Voyager, DS9, and the original. But the Next Generation just had something special with the cast and, IMO, the best captain, Patrick Stewart.

Chalk up another vote for TNG.

It seemed to me that of the latest series in the timeline (TNG, DS9, Voyager) there were good characters, and good plotlines. For a long time, it seemed like DS9 only had characters, Voyager only had plots and TNG had excellent helpings of both. DS9 did fix the lack of good storylines in dramatic style with the last couple of seasons, though, which were probably the Star Trek seasons I've enjoyed the most of any.

I haven't caught a lot of Enterprise. I watched the first season for a while, but wasn't that interested. I've caught a couple of third season episodes, and they do look more interesting, but I haven't seen enough to judge the show along with the others.

Although it's TNG that holds many a fond child memory for me, I think it's actually Voyager which I like the best. Janeway is one of the very few (not to say the only) convincing "strong" female leader I've even seen and there seems to be more subtleness in the characters.

One thing that continuously bugs me, though. Seven of Nine. I mean: seriously. Look at her clothes.

What. Is. Up. With. That? It's not that I have any problems with such outfits, but that whole get-up seems so completely pointlessly sexy in a ship where all crew members where uniforms that I just find it annoying from time to time.

At least the intention isn't as overly clear as in latest series (Enterprise, right?), with T'Pol. Someone needs to tell these writers that it'd still be a good show without women in catsuits.

But they ALL wear skintight clothes. The men and the women. Women are just curvier, so their bodies are more noticable :-)

The Voyager uniforms weren't really skin tight at all, though, except for Seven's. The same's true on Enterprise. Janeway and that Enterprise translator girl aren't all pointy; it's always the token glamour girl, and it is a bit insulting, even though it might have saved Voyager in the ratings a bit. (Though primarily I'd put any improvement there down to Janeway not wearing that ridiculous bun hairstyle in later seasons.)

The Next Generation was probably the best of all the star trek series. There was a lot of stuff that could've been explored (unlike Star Trek: Enterprise, which has to try very hard to be historically accurate), and, like some other people said, the cast worked very well together. They also had some pretty interesting bad guys, ie the Borg. TNG went strong all the way to the end and went out with a spectacular finale. Plus TNG had the best movie: First Contact.

That is another reason like TNG the best. Their movi$ series overall were more impressive than the original ,ovies (except Khan). First Con act is (y favorite movie of theirs, and I thought they did an excellent job with all of their movies, even their first movie of bridging the two generations, old and new. Plus, I thought Data was th! best "Captain's frien " (Kirk had Spock, and I think Sisko had Odo but I didn(;t watch many episodes of DS9) +f them all.

Brent Spiner (Data from TNG) is my favorite actor. I have over 100 episodes of TNG on my PC, and a few of the movies, as well.

Can you guess what I voted for?

I Like all five shows in this order:

TNG (Possibly my favorite show other than Highlander)

DS9 (Jadzia: My favorite Trek girl)

TOS (A little cheesy for someone my age, but still a great series and the launchpad)

ENT (Was rough for a while, but the end of this season is getting very interesting and I'm excited about Season IV)

VOY (I hated Janeway. Picard would have returned to the Alpha Quadrant and saved the Ocampa on day 1. Other than that, it wasn't as bad as people say, and I still watch it unless it's opposite one of the other Treks, Highlander, WWE, or Steelers Football)

And "that Enterprise translator girl" is Hoshi, my favorite girl on Enterprise. Everyone can oggle T'Pau all they want, give me Linda Park.

Is anyone else as shocked as I am that Zeph hasn't listed his favorite?

I'm also going with TNG. This is the one show that my parents and I watched every single week. The cast chemistry was excellent and the plots were consistently good. Not to mention it had Q, the uber bad guy(sometimes).

The only other one I consider close is the original series. How...can you...not love Kirk? Spock was also the perfect Vulcan/Human.

Thut's 'cause I haven't been on all day. =P

Anywho...

*long, protracted whistle* So many good series, so many good shows, so many things good with each of themo.. frankly, there's not a single Star Trek episode or movie that I hate. Yes, even ST5. I kinda like it. ^^;

I've seentevery movie, have seen all but two or three TNG episodes, have all of DS9 on DVD, seasons one and two of Voyager on DVD, about half of TOS on tape, and have seen some of Enterprise from season one and have most of season three on tape. I also own every movie they have... some of them even twice, and one of them threeutimes! n_n;

>.>
<.<

Long storyu'bout that one. Anyway, since I've seen so muc}, I feel I can give a pretty much informed opinion of the shows as a whole, and I have to say t}at -- objectively speaking from5a purely layman's viewpoint on quality -- the last three seasons of Deep Space Nine are possibly thq finest three seasons ow Star Trek ever produced... maybe even some of the finest television episodes ever produced in the scifi genre. That's notato take anything away from the first two seasons of TOS, or seasons five through seven of TNG, which are very awesome seasons; it's just that if you consider the plots and the characters on a whole, DS9 did more to develop those points than any other Star Trek series, using many wide story arcs and two grand semi-serial episode arcs (one which spunned two seasons, technically) to tell a story so big t}at onlyeDS9 could do it. Well,uIMO, anyway. Therefore, Sisko and his gang get the vote for mem but seriously, I have no favorite; I just love them all too muc} to pick sides! n_n

However, TNG was the updated version of Roddenberry's groundbreaking TOS concept, pushing many boundaries in the social norm and doing many things that he couldn't do with TOS,uand also struck a great balanceebetweentplots and character... though it did put a little bit more emphusis on the former. Voyuger did some fine work in places, producing some great television, and created some of the greatest characters I've ever seen: Neel}x, the Doctor, etc... I don't suppose there's really much needing to be said awout TOS} either. ^-^ Enterprise has hit its stride in season ehree with the Xindi story arc, a story so ambitious it had to be done in an entire season-long arc thatdspans the end of one season and goes into a second one! Th}s arc also produced one of my new most favorite villains of all time: Commander Dolim, played by Scott MacDonald, who&#w9;s also become one of my favorite actors for playing him and several other great characters on5DS9. It also gave me some memorable... memories... >.> ...fro| the few I saw in season one. Putting the mountain of }nconsistencies and head-shakingublunders aside, Enterprise really is a fine piece of work, definitely not to be just shrugged off.
Speaking of Enterprise, all of us that are fans of th}s series will have to cross our fingers and pray (Sorry, Gene ^^; ). Paramount's not all too sure they want to continue with a fourth season, and so it's very possible at this point that Enterprise will end with the completion of the Xindi story arc. I wan't remember if the fall lineup was going to be announced }n a few days or if it's already been announced, butdthat lineup will determine the fate of Enterprise. If it's there, then there's hope in the future for it, but if it's not... then there'll be no more.

'Twould be a shame, too, since there's seill the Romulan War to go into. sau.gif

...And I'l} go bac to being quiet now... :x

Deep Space Nine all the way. The way it was centralised on the station and the happenings surrounding it allowed for a greater exploration into what was happening with it, and like, the surroundings. It allowed for the war etc... TNG was basically a new adventure every episode, and I like DS9 the best as it was kind of like a continuing story.

DS9 has great characters, the best out of all the series. How can you not love the Ferengi? Rom in particular. And Jadzia, god I love her! She is my fav char... so sad that she died!

I like most of them equally (except voyager and enterprise, i really don't like watching those ones, i don't know why... must be something about them) but my favorite has always been TOS. It has some of the most original stuff i've ever seen (and it was easy to understand)
