Has anyone noticed that when shadow blocks some attacks and his dog attacks he blocks with something other than a shield? I'm sure everyone has seen it at least once, so does anyone know what that thing is? I always thought it was like some kind of summon thing. but im probably wrong, any ideas?

Uh...it's his dog, Interceptor.

He uses his Dog to block an attack? Aint that a little harsh? (Wait... he is an assasin so i guess not, lol)

Yes, it's a tiny dog sprite.

Is it harsh? It is, but somehow Interceptor seems to be invincible.

That's Interceptor? I thought it was some kind of metallic triangle...

But I guess that makes more sense, right? I mean, a dog is a much more resilient shield than a flimsy piece of metal.

Interceptor isnt invincible, he gets hit a certain number of times, and stop blocking for shadow. when he gets hit, interceptor either uses "takedown" or something else

Yeah, what DarkShadow said. If the dog jumps in as a canine shield, then Interceptor will probably come in and hurt the monster. A lot. Very helpful when you first get Shadow.

What about in WoR? I thought he used something else there....

In the bugs and glitches guide, it is written that there is a rippler bug that exchange the "Interceptor" status. This removes it permanantly. But there is no other way that Interceptor stops to block Shadow.

I noticed that sprite to, and also noticed that interceptor came out when it appeared, but I swear it never looked like the actual dog to me. Any experts know what actually causes the interceptor counterattack to activate?

I don't have any references, but I think it's random at something like 10% chance of blocking (reducing) physical attacks, and then about 5% chance (half of the 10%) of counterattacking with TakeDown or Wild Fang (probably 2.5% each, each with 1/2 of 5%). That's what it seems like to me, but I've never studied them.

The sprite looks like the front portion of a dog. I guess it's Interceptor partially behind Shadow's legs (from the battle perspective of the player).

I noticed that interceptor consistently blocked a heck of a lot more often in the WoB than in the WoR. Is there a reason for this or is it simply coincidence?

But I don't think that's why. You can get Shadow back later at the Colosseum, and then after that Interceptor is still there.

Interceptor is shadows friend and guardian type. his attacks are Wild Fang and Takedown which both do significant damage, and do not affect flying creatures. They are completely randomized, and do not occur every time Interceptor blocks the attack. And the block isnt complete...Shadow still sustains approximately half of what he would have taken if Interceptor would not have intervined. The sprite...i dont kno im still figuring that out. Looks kinda like Interceptor is hunched over with a slice going through him...thats just my guess which is probably completely inacurate.

Goobers, the metalitic triange you are thinking of is another kind of block, it is supposed to be someone blocking a sword with a sword i believe.
