Why is it that FF games are all so memerable. I mean i've been playing FF since I was 3. I still love to play the same FF games i've been playing for practicly my whole life. Is it the loveable unique Characters, the Deep plotted storyline, the medium pace battle system, the great sub-quests, or even some of the unique mini games. Maybe all of these things together is what makes for some of the greatest games ever!?!

First MUST be the storyline. It's a compelling story that makes each game great.
Second is the characters. It's not really possible to make a great plot without good characters. Edit: I forgot to mention this: Furthermore, it's not a necessity, but good music (e.g. FFVI) can go a long way to making the game more appealing (to me, at least) than one with not-so-good music (e.g. Secret of Mana). while all of those factors combined make FF the best japanese rpg series, i would have to say that the epic storylines are the most importnat to me. The story is the only reason i bother to beat FF8...

I've always loved the FF characters. Each game that I've played has at least two characters that have awesome personalities, back-stories, abilities, etc. I escpecially love FFVI's characters, all of whom have good stories. Except the ones with none that are told (Umaro, Gogo, Lone Wolf etc.)

Characters are most important to me. I really like most of the characters I've played in Final Fantasies, even a few that many others seem to hate . . . I dunno, they just ring with me. (Though I really dislike it when there's inconsistancy in characterization.) Plot is good, and so are the other things, but characters are what really hit it for me.
Though, granted, I've only played about four or five of the games . . . so . . . um. Yeah. This post has been edited by CaitlinWG on 9th March 2004 20:18 |

I null voted. There is no one factor, especially considering the leading factor for each game is different.

![]() Well I voted for characters. When you think about a specific FF, what's the first thing that comes to mind? The characters. Therefore that's the one aspect of FFs that's most memorable! Whoopie!! -------------------- FFXI (Siren server) Tauu the Windurstian Tarutaru! White Mage & Paladin |

The Job System.
Even in the games where there is no job system, you can still tell its there, like in FF7 Tifa was the fighter, zell in 8, and the ninja job was in 9 the guy with dreadlocks was one. -------------------- Final Fantasy fans that like 8-bit theater? Whats makes FF great?
Well, it all goes back to 199...8 for me. FF7: theose mini-games mad ei cool, but it was gameplay. These days, its all abotu characters and gameplay to me. Graphics are not a point in the FF games: 6 is one of the best, if not the best, and its graphics are poor comapared to X-2 and X. -------------------- "Only the dead have seen the end of their quotes being misattributed to Plato." -George Santayana "The world will little note, nor long remember what we say here..." -Abraham Lincoln, prior to the discovery of Irony. |

I voted for the storyline. Good stuff.

Sorry, I did vote for the cop out vote, i feel bad now. But I thought it was a good choice at the time. So yeah, FF1 the story wasn't that great, neither were the characters, but the fighting and game playing were just revolutionary and I always go back to it. In FFIV I really did like everything, but since it was the first RPG that I played after FF1 and it had a really good story I should have voted for the story line. I like the other final fantasies, but I have yet to play FF8, people have said it was horrible, but recently I have heard otherwise so I will find out for myself.

Cop out answer??? I voted this cop out answer because if a FF lacks in any of the areas, its considered bad. FFVIII had alot of great things, but because of the battle system and overall feel, it was downplayed. I think that for an FF to be truly great, it needs good innovations while keeping every aspect in mind. FFX was great in every way, thats why its so good. Make character development bad, it becomes bad. Take out the Aeons, it becomes bad. see?

All FFs but VIII had great characters and a great storyline so I went with the story...it has to have a good story to play.

What separates most of the FFs from ordinary RPGs is the unique blend of elements, all of exceptional quality. Primarily it's the storyline and characters that make epic games great, but I love the battle systems also, and who can mention FF without talking about the music?

I say that the best thing is the wealth of assets that the game has built up over the years. Chocobos, moogles, cactuars, tonberries, summons. The battle system. The similar musical pieces. The recurring plot devices and characters. The recurring weapons items spells etc. Each FF game comments on, and further develops the themes that have come up in previous FF's. By now there is so much FF stuff that it rivals Middle Earth in terms of idiosyncracies.

Of course I voted for 'all', seeing as I've enjoyed every aspect (nearly) of every Final Fantasy game (except FF2 j). Unfortunately, one choice was left out of this poll that I would've voted for immediately, and that is the music. If you go through all of my posts, you may find that my favorite Final Fantasy titles (if I AM able to choose two favorites) are VI and IX. Incidentally, VI and IX have the best music out of the rest IMO (followed closely by VIII and X...and also IV and VII...) Not saying they're my favorites solely for the music, but it's one of the bigger factors.

THE MUSIC!!!!!! FF music is awesome. That's the best thing about FF!
![]() The only Battle Systems I liked were FF6 and FF7. All the other ones suck! I don't care for too many of the characters eitther... Just FF6, FF7, and a few FF10. This post has been edited by ffpianomaster on 6th April 2004 08:06 |

I definitely appreciate a storyline and characters I can get into, as well as the music. But using those conditions I am at a loss to explain why I liked the early FFs in the first place. So even though it's the cop-out answer, it is the correct one, at least for me.

I just like the games cuz of the fact the games have all been quite long so they entertain for while and then there's the fact that FF games just rule.

*Didn't read thread posts* I honestly gave up on FF storylines. For the good characters you remember, there's an equal amount of weak ones. I went for battle system. FF after VII implemented a new system each installment, setting a tradition of a new way to kill things.

I'd go with the other 17 ppl (at this time) and say that all of these things make FF such a kick ass series. But mainly the characters are what draw me into a game. Cause if i dont like the characters i dont care what happens to them and that drains the fun.

i have to say all of it, the game would be nothing without the characters, the characters would be nothing without the storyline, the storyline is nothing without the battle system, the battle system is nothing without the sub quests, the sub quests are nothing without the mini games.... FF's are great
