The new DS Castlevania comes out Wednesday. Once I pick that up, Diablo and Sacred go on a hold. How long a hold? Depends when I get tired of vampire killing.

I am currently playing Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia and I'm loving it.
The difficulty level is pretty high. Not that the boss-fights are over-the-top, they're still pretty challenging, but that's not it. It's that sometimes I realise, that I'm about to get killed by regular enemies. The music's great, not Portrait of Ruin great or Symphony of the Night great, but still very good. Artwork is different. Took a while to get used to it (especially after the shift from Ayami Kojima artwork to typical anime style art), but I like it. The gameplay is good AND it's different than the rest of the series. I like the use of glyph combinations, the combination attacks make for a much more dynamic game. The fact, that all regular attacks use up MP is kind of weird, but it stops the player from endless streams of dagger throwing or sword slashing. Also, I'm in love with the boss designer for the Rusalka. Game progress: about 55% This post has been edited by SilverMaduin on 23rd October 2008 06:31 -------------------- "I fell off the mountain of words at around the 10,000ft mark. I have way too many games that I've started and haven't completed. I really need to stop buying/starting new ones and just focus on what I still have open.
For the DS, I haven't finished either Advance Wars game, nor am I done with FF3 or FF4. For the PS2, I have, most notably, Shadow Hearts 2 and FF12 open. For computer, I began a game of Diablo II but haven't gone anywhere with it. I have various games of Secret of Mana out there with all sorts of challenges. -------------------- Hey, put the cellphone down for a while In the night there is something wild Can you hear it breathing? I've been thinking just the same thing recently. I went to such great lengths to buy FFV and VI. I completed VI at the start of this year and haven't played either for about nine months.
I've installed Warcraft III again to go back to a map-making project I started nearly two years ago now. I want to keep it going but I know I'll just scrap it again. FFXII was given some new life this month. My friend and I decided to get the Zodiac Spear as soon as possible from a new game. We used a save-swap system that means we take it in turns to get further. You can get the spear once you leave Raithwell's Tomb, so we did. The Necrohol of Nabudis was a killer though. The Baknamys use some attacks that kill our characters in one go. It was good fun. Speaking of FFXII, I only just found out about the "International" version in the last week. I'd love to play it. -------------------- Scepticism, that dry rot of the intellect, had not left one entire idea in his mind. Me on the Starcraft. |

I just finished the second boss in Dracula's Castle in Castlevania: OoE. Bottom line - I think that this game is better than DoS or PoRNDS, and the castle is very, very pretty to look at but still not quite as large or interconnected as I'd like. Right now my map % is just over 80.
The optional nature (and very good rewards) from the village quest system is *exactly* the right amount of Cv grinding I want to do. No more "gotta catch 'em all" with the soul system from AoS/DoS or the near-total lack of prompted item hunting in SotN. It's like Baby Bear's porridge. And the game is difficult, but good-difficult. VERY few re-used sprites, and some smoking-hot enemy and boss designs (with the notable exception of Wallman). That zombie giant in the northeast dungeon is just... awesome. -------------------- |

PORTAL!!!!!!!!
So, Xbox decided to get some suckers that didn't already have the orange box to get portal... FINALLY! I played a PC version of Portal Start to End about a week after it came out at a friend's house, and then did it with a borrowed copy of the orange box from another friend on my Xbox (For the Achievements, of course!), and now... The Xbox Live Arcade has released "Portal: Still Alive" which is a full fledged version of Portal, combined with 14 new challenge maps. With the initial length of Portal to begin with, this darn near doubles your entertainment ability with the game... especially since the new puzzles are retarded hard! I'm only 8/14 deep, because I'm actually stuck! Also, there are some crazy achievements available. I'm not sure if it was an original achievement or not, but there is one called "Out of the Blue" In which you have to only enter Orange portals (so you come "out of the blue") for every puzzle after you earn both guns. Seems easy, but good luck with that while you're bouncing around in puzzle 18... So if you liked Portal, and wish to play more, this is your reason and means to. -------------------- If internal struggles were as enjoyable and glamorous as the self conflicted wars within video game characters, we would all be statues, reveling in perpetual self war. -Me Play me on Rock Band 2, GH-WT, or any other Xbox GH! Feeling VERY nostalgic, I found a Nintendo 64 copy of Madden 1998. Trying to lead the Giants to victory with the future draft bust Dave Brown at quarterback and Rodney Hampton at running back. Never an easy task.
Also, and more prominently, trying to catch up in the Soul Calibur series. So far, II has dominated my gaming time. I'm tackling Final Fantasy IV (PS version), and I'm certainly not regretting it (except for the painfully slow saving times).

I just got Super Mario RPG and Secret of Mana on my Wii, so those are my two main games at the moment. I'm also playing Xenosaga ep. 1, but that's sporadic. I really do like it, but once I start playing it, I can't stop so I try to play it when there's a big chunk of open time.

I am currently playing FFIV DS, then when I am finished with that, I will probably go out and get either Chrono Trigger DS or MOON, whichever one GameStop has.
I am also playing Tomb Raider:Anniversary on GameTap, and I am thinking of dowloading Portal on Steam. -------------------- "My name is Atma...I am a power both ancient and unrivaled... I do not bleed, for I am but strength given form...Feeble creatures of flesh...Your time is nigh!" |
