After kicking my addiction to Monster Hunter, I haven't played too many video games for the past two months or so. However, after not having played it actively for something like 8 years, I am now addicted to Magic: the Gathering again. I'm not even talking about the video game version either.

Quote (trismegistus @ 20th February 2011 21:37) Tactics Ogre PSP Jealous... Though I totally just spent the last 2 hours playing through the Island Avalon and Kastolan Sea levels of Ogre Battle: March of the Black Queen. Such a great classic. Short of that, we rented Epic Mickey. A solid, fun platformer, but I'm not as in the mood for it as I thought I'd be at the moment. Still, I'm giving it a fair go, and it's a nice throwback to classic Disney works. Hmm... Been Minecrafting a bit, and shooting some folk in MW2 on and off again, though since my neighbour who we share our net with got Netflix on her XBox, our network connection has gone completely down the drain. No doubt I'm to blame to with my Madmen/Avatar/Heroes marathons... haha ![]() But yeah... I was totally feeling the Ogre Battle. Can't wait to get a PSP and snatch up Tactics Ogre. I should've gotten it on the PS years ago when I saw it. Stupid me. -------------------- Games on the Go Final Fantasy VII Final Fantasy: Four Warriors of Light Baldur's Gate Too much to play, so little time! Greg |

Playing 999: 9 Hours, 9 Persons, 9 Doors. Great game. Beat it once, big ol' cliffhanger, going to try and unlock more endings now.
One problem.... SO MANY GRAMMATICAL ERRORS! It's pretty bad when you see unforgiveable **** like using an apostrophe to pluralize a noun in professional media. And it's not a one-time thing, but a recurring problem. This post has been edited by laszlow on 1st March 2011 02:46 -------------------- |

I went on another recent mini-binge of Crisis Core, since I tend to have my PSP charged and ready only when I'm traveling via plane. I'm up to a whopping 5% completion on my first save file now, so that's pretty awesome.
I finished a playthrough of River City Ransom with Tiddles yesterday, too. Now that is something I haven't done in a while. -------------------- "To create something great, you need the means to make a lot of really bad crap." - Kevin Kelly Why aren't you shopping AmaCoN? |

I am currently playing way too many games, especially considering Pokemon Black/White drop this weekend and I put nearly 200 hours into my file on SoulSilver. I need to finish up FF13 (and still FF8, which may be a lost cause at this point), and I also just recently started Crisis Core since I got my PSP working. I need to kick this habit of starting games before finishing others.

Beyond Good & Evil HD came out on XBLA today, I bought it and am just about an hour in. I've never played this game before but I'm afraid that my expectations may have been a bit inflated by years of listening to rabid fans.

FFXII International is a work of the highest calibre. Unbelievably amazing. Every unfortunate issue in the original is ironed out, the monsters are better balanced and their drops are better in places. Considering I've poured a disgusting amount of time into the original the International still seems so fresh and I can't wait to return to it.
But I can't because it lives 150 miles away. So recently I've been playing a little bit of Knights of the Old Republic because I haven't played through the game as a Sith, meaning act like a horrible mercenary with no feelings towards anyone. Similarly to Fallout 3, I find myself becoming so immersed in the game I can't sometimes bring myself to do what's needed, for example, kill or betray innocent people. -------------------- Scepticism, that dry rot of the intellect, had not left one entire idea in his mind. My incredibly awesome gay Indian friend was able to mod my PSP so it could emulate!
YAY Some of my GBA roms can be a bit temperamental (Sword of Mana, especially) but the larger screen is great, and the portability factor is a MAJOR plus compared to emulating on a computer. Anyway, with the hacking and stuff, my list of current games has expanded to:
I'm planning on buying both Duodecim and Final Fantasy IV: Complete Collection when they come out as well. I also want to pick up either Pokemon Black or White, but I lost my DS some time ago, and therefore need to purchase a new one. And I make minimum wage. And there's other things I want/need to buy - food, gas, this really nice bass guitar I'm saving up for, pens to feed my pen addiction, etc. I'm planning on waiting for the "third" version of Generation V (a la Yellow, Crystal, Emerald, Platinum) anyway. Even though there's apparently not going to be a third version, like the article says, it could be a marketing maneuver to not decrease sales of Black and White. You never know. -------------------- |

Dragon Age II is eating my life away, followed closely by Tales of Vesperia (2 pesky achievements left!) and Red Dead Redemption. My rotating titles this month are Scott Pilgrim vs The World along with Dragon Age: Origins.
On deck: Mass Effect 2, Borderlands, Fallout: New Vegas and Megaman 10. -------------------- This is a webcomic and gaming blog where I rant about nonsense. Enjoy. I was a soldier, now I just play one in video games. |

Now that Dragon Age 2 is out, I'm finally sitting down to really play Dragon Age 1. Still waiting on Shuma-Gorath for Marvel vs. Capcom 3, and the wife is rocking some Kingdom Hearts.

Just finished Dragon Quest VI. Might still grind in it more to beat the endgame super-boss Nokturnus.
Currently playing Dragon Age: Origins and Marvel vs. Capcom 3 on the PS3. Love love both. Was playing Jeanne D'Arc on the PSP, but now it's on hold. Will get back to it eventually. -------------------- |

Currently playing:
Super Smash Bros. Brawl (Wii) - VERY entertaining fighter, been tearing it up with Marth. Sin and Punishment: Star Successor (Wii) - unique rail shooter with great two player co-op. Lost Odyssey (360) - Still trying to get into it, but the first few hours have been alrite. CoD: Black Ops (360) - first time venturing into Call of Duty. Pretty damn good. -------------------- "The answer is, of course, that it would be best to be both loved and feared. So I got a new game on my phone called Flowerz, that's stupidly addicting. It's kind of like a more complex bejeweled type game. I love it.

I finally finished Bioshock last week, which was as great as I thought it would be, despite the last hour and a half or so being very annoying with fetch quests and escort missions. It's still probably my second-favorite FPS in terms of game design and atmosphere, but it's probably barely top five overall. I think I'll wait on the sequel until I can get it for like $3 on Steam, or just bypass it entirely and grab Infinite down the road.
I think last week was also when my typical CoN gaming buddies finished dragging me through Borderlands. I think I'd probably appreciate the game a lot more if I'd played it through on singleplayer first, or at least played it with guys who haven't finished it four or five times, but it is a pretty fun game, I have to admit. Not playing anything now. Trying to make myself do CoNwork in my downtime. A member for 7+ years and I'm writing my 100th post.
I just finished Chrono Cross. I originally played it back in 1999 at its release, but I had much disdain for it. It didn't feel to me like a TRUE sequel. I had shelved it and never intended to play it again (I was about 90% done with the game). It just got to the point where the story became so forced as a sequel that I grew tired of it. Last week or so I found the website ChronoCompendium, and I spent a good two and a half hours reading through it. A lot of what I was reading I either hadn't caught in the game the first time, or I just forgot about, so I decided to fire it back up. A lot of the beginning is what I remembered -- a very solid stand-alone game. I think what turned me off as a kid was the intricacies of time traveling. When you meet the spirits of the heroes in Tower of Geddon, you realize that your actions in Chrono Trigger had unexpected consequences. I actually liked that aspect of the story. It started to unravel for me around the time I got to Terra Tower and after. They just tried to attach too many CT stories to this one game that it became more convoluted than it became an epic tale. Also, I couldn't stand the number of playable characters in the game. Overall, it wasn't as BAD as I remember, but I wouldn't say it is as great as made out to be. When I need my time traveling fix, I'll stick with the original. I'll still hold out hope that Square-Enix makes Chrono Break! -------------------- And have you found your joy, in this near dead world of ours? |

I've actually been watching/guiding gently my husband through Chrono Trigger, which is as much fun to spectate as it is to play! It's super hard, though, to not backseat game, hahaha.
Still playing WoW and the like. Started a game on Chrono Trigger I'll probably necglect, just 'cause he reminded me how much fun it was! I'm waiting out for The Sims Medeival. I'd been wanting to play Sims 3 for a while, and just recently found out that was coming out soon, so I figured I'd wait it out for a few days for that one! -------------------- You're telling me that there's no hope. I like CT, but I guess I'll never see what y'all see in it. No matter...
I got a game started in Knights of the Old Republic, but now that I have my copy of Dragon Age II, I'm playing that instead. Once I've had my fill of that, I'll likely go back to KotOR. Both have been good games, so far. -------------------- |

I'm not gonna buy Duodecim until I finish Dissidia first. (I'm on the fourth chapter of Shade Impulse.)
I just got to Melmond in my solo Red Mage run of FFI (PSP). And I'm giving Final Fantasy Tactics Advance a third try. For some reason, I could never really get into it, but I feel it's worth a shot, right? -------------------- |
