What final fantasy had the enemies you hated the most? (therefore had the best, in a roundabout way)
Did you, like me, really hate the touch mes in FF7 because they surrounded you? (not to mention putting your group to sleep and turnign them into frogs...) or did you snarl whenever you ran into a Malboro in 8? And what was your most hated boss? And finally, was there a particualr monster or boss you really liked? Heres Mine Game with most hated enemies- 7 Most hated Enemy- Touch Me's Most Hated Boss- Demons Gate (three months! a whole three months it took... to level up to 47 so i was sure i would beat him ![]() Enemy/Boss i liked?- Hungrys. They were so stupid, tryign to mini me while i was aiming Bahamut and Odin at em... but the fact they attempted to eat your shrunken characters was a bit disturbing when they were fine next battle... ![]() NOTE- didnt include 3 or Tactics as i have never played them. much to my dismay ![]() -------------------- "Only the dead have seen the end of their quotes being misattributed to Plato." -George Santayana "The world will little note, nor long remember what we say here..." -Abraham Lincoln, prior to the discovery of Irony. |

Hmmm, interesting poll. I have to say I'm really not sure which game overall had the most infuriating enemies, although I can name a few from various games. I think I'm going to go with FFX for now, although FFV is a close second because of those damn Mini Dragons. X had quite a few enemies with insane amounts of HP--more than the bosses, in some cases. The Malboros, the Dark Flans, and those huge robot things on the Zanarkand Highway come to mind.
Other enemies I hate: The Jokers in VII; they bring up the Death card way too often for my liking. All of the monsters in the Dark Cave (is that what it's called? I forget) in FFIII that split when you attack them, unless you're using Mystic Knights. The Mages in FFI. The Ghost Ships in VII; I hate any enemy that can just remove you from battle with no possibility of return or defense against the attack that does it. And on that note, I also hate those creatures in VI that use Sneeze. Argh argh argh. ![]() As for the worst boss, I hated the Demon Gate too. That thing killed me so many times. I also hated that one boss in the Icicle mountains, the one with the two heads. It took me -forever- to beat it. I also despise Atomos in FFV, and the Dark Cloud in FFIII. But the absolute worst boss that I can think of is Astaroth, in FFII. I can NEVER defeat him. I've given up trying. It's a good thing he's optional, otherwise I'd never have finished that game. All things considered, I'd rather have my life than a Ribbon. ![]() Favorite enemy...let's see. I like the Zemzeletts in VII, mostly because of the name, but also because you can learn White Wind from them. I also like any enemy that looks like a bunny--the Cure Beasts and their ilk in FFV, the LeafyBunnys and SpyRabbits in FFVI, the Hoppings in FFVII--mostly for the sheer weirdness of it all. Plus I like Controlling the Cure Beasts and making them heal the party. ![]() ![]() |

I am going to have to say that FFT had the best enemies of all time. Which wasn't really monsters, they were armies of people, such as the Death Corps.., Wiegraf was so powerful and hard to beat..even harder than Ajora.

I wasn't really happy with the enemies in FFX at all--as cool as that game was, the monsters seemed mostly on the lame side.
![]() The worst monster EVER, in my opinion, is the Great Marlboro. I hate that @#$%ing piece of @#$%. Do you know what it's like to spend three hours leveling up and find all of that hard work GONE thanks to some @#$%ing BAD BREATH?! ... Okay, yeah, you probably do. Anyway. I respect the Marlboro as a great and powerful enemy, but I hate him. Hate hate hate hate hate. -------------------- Veni, vidi, dormivi. |

Hee hee hee. The only reason the Magic Urns and Magic Pots didn't get my vote for favorite enemy was that I'm something of a packrat in games like this; I hoard my items, thinking, "I'd better not use this Elixir now--I might need it later on. ...Okay, now I'm going to use this Elixir. Wait, no, I'd better not; what if there's an even more powerful boss in the next area? ...Okay, now I'm going to use this Elixir...wait, no, what if..." And so on. I do this even in games that I know backwards and forwards, games in which I have memorized the location of every single item and every single enemy, and know exactly what's coming and when I might possibly need to use my items.
So naturally, when faced with an enemy that says "Gimme Elixir!", I go, "What? What?? You want me to give up my precious, precious Elixirs? Are you insane???" And then I do it anyway, but I still feel guilty about it, and vaguely violated. Even with the buttload of experience that you generally get out of indulging the little buggers. ![]() That said, I wish the Magic Pots in FFX worked like the ones in the earlier games. I'd rather give up an Elixir than go through some weird-ass Simon Says/guessing game routine every time. ![]() This post has been edited by Syndarr on 18th September 2003 04:21 |

I voted FFIV. It's not that I hate them, it's just that they are the most challenging.

I went with FFVI cause they had some great enemies like Atma Weapon, the dragons, Doom Gaze, etc. A close runner up for me was FFV simply because Gilgamesh.

astaroth was a cinch for me. the key is to have a high str sword weliding firion str needs to be over 70 and at least 12 hits on the sword skill then equip both yes both bloodswords on him then just wail on him with that my str was 99 and sword skill was 16 killed him in one hit i really didnt need the second blood sword but that being said i hated the death riders they do the same thing as astaroth but if they got to go first they always kicked my behind and i alwas killed asteroth before he could attack |

Malboros were definitely the hardest in 8. I always used Quistis with inititiative to get in and degenerate them before they could touch me! I didn't like Atma in VI. It took me 3 goes to kill it the first time around. Carry Armor in VII was nasty too, especially if it's first moves were to pick up 2 of your characters.
Due to the fact that I hate Barret with a passion Dyne was always really hard for me too! Gi Nattak can be kinda tough of you don't use a phoenix down on him! -------------------- ''Peace is but a shadow of death, desperate to forget it's painful past, though we hope for promising years, after shedding a thousand tears yesterday's sorrow constantly nears, and while the moon shines blue, by dawn it will turn a scarelt hue.'' - Kuja ''Then I'll be going now. i believe that x has the bst enemies, however
the strangest enemies were the four elementals(FFIV), who are the only one that realized that your teamwork is what beat them, so they eventually fight you all together, but by then, you're a lot stronger, to make even that battle a pushover, so in my eyes they get the most ironically amusing award. I voted for FFVI. It had awesome baddies, such as cactrots. Those little buggers are just, well, buggers. They look like they're running away and you say "Aww, look! It's a coward cactus!" But these guys are tough (when you're not controlling the guy in the coluseum.)

Gonna hafta vote for FFIV here.. some monsters were pathetic, some plain tactical, but overall you had a fun time slicing the lil fellas up.. providing you didnt get killed by them in the process that is
![]() But ah, i forgot bosses.. EvilWall anyone? or maybe Plague? Ogopogo? Wyvern? Heh, the list goes on and on.. there was more then enough to keep you buys, and level up for.. so, you were never left out in the open with nothin to do eh? lol. Brilliant set of bosses, some were foolishly easy (Cagnazzo? need i say more, lmao) and others were insanely vicious (Ogopogo & Wyvern get first attack, and they hit you HARD!) overal, excellent challenge. I'm gonna update my reply here and add the Propagators in FFVIII to my list of hated enemies. I just got the Ragnarok, and fighting my way through those guys was not fun. At least, not until I figured out that I could fix my junctions in such a way that Squall's attack had a 100% chance of putting the things to sleep...
![]() I have also just defeated the Jumbo Cactuar, and I have Leviathan's Recover ability to thank for that, as well as Quistis's Aqua Breath, which did about 6700 damage every time she used it. Even so, the fight took me FOREVER. I was seriously starting to wonder if the thing had infinite HP. But when it was all over, I had to admit to myself that I was enjoying every minute of the fight, even when I was praying desperately that Jumbo wouldn't do two Ker-Plunks in a row and wipe out my party before Irvine had a chance to Recover them. |

This was a tough call for me, and I voted for 7.
4 has cool bad guys, but not a lot of them, and they don't have many cool moves except for the bosses, though the challenge is there like DP said. 5 and 6 have all the same bad guys as 4 did and more, so there's more variety, and they tend to do more interesting moves to boot. 8 had just a few bad guys and they looked boring, and I disliked the whole game anyway. 9 was better, but still not a ton of variety, and I didn't fall in love with any of them. FFX was great, it had 10 or so races of creature, and each race had different species throughput Spira. They were interesting, good looking, and had highly specialized attributes (like dodging or resisting magic etc.), and Monster Arena got uber difficult. 7, however, had tons of bad guys just like 5 and 6, but with better graphics, and fully animated movements. Furthermore, it had a lot of new bad guys like the mutant things that get loose when you get out of jail in the Shinra building, and then the things in Wutai. 7 had the the most creative set of new bad guys, plus tons of old ones (dragons, cactuars, wolves), so I value it over FFX's improvement of the same old Flans and Ahrimans etc. P.S. Emerald and Ruby, and the Turks, and the machine you fight before escaping Midgar were all totally butt-kicking. -------------------- Get me off this Disciplinary Committee so I can play any FF except for FF8!!! |

I had to vote other on this one to vote for Chrono Trigger. It's not an FF game but it's square Enix and think it should be included in the spirit of the poll. CT's monsters and bosses blew traditional FF games away in many ways. Design, special attacks, battle animations, personality name a few.

I hated the FF 4 bosses the most. Particularrly the Evil wall, due to all of the preperation needed to pwn him. Once your ready he is easy enough though. Also Sadly i used to have trouble with the Magus sisters, Could'nt tell ya why. Maybe because i was 5. I liked how some bosses required strategy to beat in that game to like the CPU. or rubicants changing fighting style. It weeds out the N00bs.

FF1 - Basically every random encounter in the last dungeon has the potential to end your game. FF4 comes close, but healing between battles is a bit more feasible in FF4 than FF1.

As much as I like the monsters in FF6, I put FF4 because the monsters in FF6 hold no challenge for me any more. I've only played FF4 through once, but that game frustrated the heck outta me because it was a lot harder than I'd expected it to be. Plus, it has a better set of Fiends than FF1.

Hmm...I wonder why I've voted in this poll but haven't posted here yet. I don't even remember voting here.
Anyways, I would go for FFV. Atomos, Phoenix Tower enemies ("Can't run!"), Omega (hard to avoid), ShieldDrgn, ExdethSoul, Exdeath 2nd battle, Exdeath 3rd battle (White Hole?? wtf??), NeoExdeath, the four Sealed, Garula, escaping from the castle in 10 minutes, Crew Dust (Flash=>blinded=>can't hit anything), Land Crawl, cannons (except Sol Cannon--that turned out to be a lot easier than I thought), etc. etc. etc. Fun game, though. -------------------- Check the "What games are you playing at the moment?" thread for updates on what I've been playing.
