I was pretty upset when I found out the Japanese edition of the game had the feature for a sound test. I believe it was BGM KI KI TA I or something. Then I spent a long time looking for a code for the English remake (i hate how they cut a lot of story

I examined the CD using the PS tool. The sound test exsists. Darn, so how do I activate it? Anyone know if it was programmed into the game, but then abandoned during the making? Maybe only certain versions allow it? There's the White Print CD, and the Silver Print CD. Also the Black print CD, which came with the Zodiac Clock. 3 versions are out there. Which one allows sound test?

as far as i know, thre is no way to access the sound test from the american version of the game. indeed you could access it in the japanese version by inputting "BGMききたい" as ramza's name in the japanese version, but i believe in localisation they did not even translate that. so, theoretically, you could access the sound test by inputting the same, but there is no way to input japanese kana in the american version, so i guess that is where people are getting "BGMXXXX" from (the "X" characters denoting characters that do not exist in/are not interpretable by the american character set).

well I seem to remember some old Game shark codes for other FFs like the higher the four digit nimber at the very end of the code the more exp or ap you gain for the quick level gain code and if I remember right you could put in FFFF in the place of the Xs to get the max ammount of exp or ap,so you might try that and see if it works just for the sake of doing it...who knows,it might actually work.
