Hey, I was considering buying FF X-2, but I haven't played that much of it. I was wondering if perhaps you guys could give me your opinions of it, cause it's this game or Viewtiful Joe cause I unfortunately only have 50 bucks to spend.

Depends... now i can actually comment, i'd say Its as addictive, and thus far as fun as most FF's, but plot seems to be only just emerging in my game. But ive only had it 2 days...
Anyway, i advise you rent it or borrow a copy before deciding, and try it out.

I really loved the game, and I think that it is definitely worth buying. :-)

The game does focus more on missions, though, than plot. The plot is still fun, however.

Yeah, you should most defenitly rent it before. Its different from any other Final Fantasy. Rent it first.

I hate the fact that you "score" an item now pinch.gif

I loved scoring Items... but anyway, I too think the game is great, despite the fact that I kind of botched it on my first time through... stil cool though.

I just loved knowing that I scored.

Anyways, by all means I recommend it. It puts FF10 to shame. I haven't finished it yet, but it's climbing my rankings for favorite FF. So much stuff to do. And if you rent it, don't be biased by the first 15 minutes or so. If you get by that, then it's all uphill. Trust me, just close your eyes during the beginning (which is what most people see and then just get an automatic label on the entire game). The rest of it is standard FF quality gaming.

FF X-2 remains as an odd experience, imo. It really depends on why you buy a game, I think. If you're looking for pure fun, then it's definitely a must-have : the game is beautiful, with a very nice battle system, and loads of extra quests along the way. Plus, it refers in a very nice way to FF X.
But there are some downsides too : if you're looking for a story with depths, well there's very much not any (again, it's my opinion). And the ambience is clearly different from FF X, wich I consider as a downside, since it was one of the things I really liked in X.
So here you go : judging from you're other choice for a game to buy (Viewtiful Joe seems like an hilarious game), I would definitely recommend it. If you're looking for a little more than just fun in a RPG, I wouldn't.

If you like games for the fun and gameplay, and FFs for the class system, I
recommend you get it.

That's the only reason why I like it, as well as for the fact that you get to do a lot
of things.

seeing as how I was warned (Ziek Heil or whatever) for making one post too short, allow me to elaborate.

My friend just bought this game, and I played it for about an hour before I threw the controller at the tv and was like, 'screw that.'

Okay... first of all, they altered the sphere system to be even more rediculous than it already was. Now, it depends on what you're wearing that gives you the power... or something... i really didn't play it long enough to figure it out.

You play as 3 chicks the whole game. From what I've seen (and heard from my friend) for most of the game, you fly around on your airship and collect spheres. You never actually control the airship, they take you places and when you get a sphere it's like "MISSION COMPLETE" and the airship picks you up really close to where you get it (why couldn't they just drop you off there???) And the point of the game is to find Tidus.

The only thing I like about this game is that you attack right after you give the command. It's not wait for the other person to go anymore, everyone goes when they're ready, so you can have all of your characters attacking at the same time.

That's pretty much it. This game is a disgrace to the series. This is the only game that was worse than I expected it to be (which is saying a lot considering I wasn't expecting much out of this game at all.) I can only hope that FFXII is actually fun and has a decent plot line.

3 Characters?

Airship ports you around?

Collecting spheres?

No weapons? No armor?

Square needs to get their head of their butt.

there, now you know why i didnt elaborate. dont buy the game.

FFX-2 is a good game, it is not a great game, but there hasn't been a great FF game since FF6...thats right I think FF7 sucked. Anyways it is worth buying if you enjoyed FFX cause it is a good sequal to a game. The whole concept was great and the ending was good (could have been a lot better). So if you want my opinion buy it, only if you have played and enjoyed FFX first. Hopefully this will open the door to other FF sequal, except FF7 and FF8 cause I hated those games.

No, to every one of those. You VERY rarely have to go anywhere, and you're only "sphere hunters" for the first chapter. You are only taken somewhere at the beginning of the game, and at the beginning of the 2nd chapter, and the 3rd if I remember correctly. And the point of the game is not to find Tidus. You just find a sphere with him, or someone that looks like him anyways, in the beginning that starts the adventure or whatever.

It's addictive, I'll give you that. But the first cutscene is the crappiest FF cutscene to date. It was like something off Charlie's Angels...and how she does a little dance whenever she gets a Sphere - it's turning into Mario 64.

But on the whole, it's looking good. Except for the three characters - I would have prefferred a more diverse selection; especially involving more races. It's understandable Kimahri can't be in your party, but at least replace him with another Ronso, a Guado or that weird thing behind the bar....

What the hell is that weird thing anyway?

It'sh a hypello?

They're bashically moogle fill ins. I think they're aweshome. They didn't get enough shcreen time in FFX, but they get plenty in FFX-2, yesh?

If u enjoyed X then buy X-2. it will keep u busy for 150+ hours if u try to get a 100% in it. it has many side games in it. i dont like most of them like the calm land games. the chocobo side quests in it is the worse yet i feel. not being able to have more controll in the blitzball sphere makes us all mad im sure. i liked the sphere grid in X more then the dressspheres, but they are a return to the old job classes(sort of). there were not many new places in it, most were old places revisited LOTS of times tho out the game. if u really enjoyed X then get X-2.

My friends and I still make jokes about the shoopuf driver from X. When you're riding across the river, and you're attacked by Al Behd, he screams out "Shomebody shave me!" That just never gets old.

Gameplay wise, it's awesome. The battles are much faster paced than in other FF's, and it's good to be able to change jobs mid-battle, but I agree that "scoring" items is just too cheesy to work.

As far as storyline goes, think Auron's Angels. Also, Brother seems to be a few sammiches short of a picnic. Oh, and watch for the lesbian massage scene blink.gif ... thumbup.gif .

*snorts* lesbian massage scene? ^-^ Reading a bit much into it?

Though I'd hate to see the fanfics that could come of that...ouch.

FFX-2 is a good game, and I agree with what some people say, but not everyone. It is good if you can get passed the girlyness, the opening cinematic.
