I was wondering what the strongest monsters people have found on the Veldt. Or how many rages they have learned. Anyone interested?
I would have to say my strongest would be Sr Behemoth, where Gau casts Fire 3 on his enemies and reaps destruction, mmm.... -------------------- "There's always a Siren, singing you to shipwreck" - There There, Radiohead |

I get tired after approximately 130 rages. I once tried to get all the rages, but when I discovered that there are some rages that you can't get, I stopped to try.
EDIT: But one of the best rage is Barb-e and her Love Token. It's cool to see enemies move on your characters to protect them. Stray Cat and Retainer and the best for attack and Magic Urn is best for defense because it absorbs all elements. I am currently playing a "get everything" game, and I figure getting all the rages means getting all the ones that are possible to get.
When I first saw this topic, I thought it meant "What's the most powerful enemy you've fought on the Veldt," which I would have to say is the Intangir (if you don't have Doom or X-Zone). I fought one there today for a good 20-25 minutes, and I eventually had to run away. I decided to Scan it after several rounds of [Spell] + [Attack] + [Attack] + [His Meteo] + [Life/Fenix Down x 1-3 (my guys were getting owned)], and out of his 32000 HP, he still had about 27000, so I gave up. There was no way that battle was going to be worth the 10 Magic Points. Anyway, back on topic. Io is a really good Rage, what with Flare Star and all. Stray Cat has Cat Scratch, which is uber-powerful for a good chunk of, if not all of the game. And what about those little guys on the solitary island in the WoR, with Pearl Wind? Free Pearl Wind is awesome. Oh yes, and of course Retainer is very good with Shock, as Strife543 mentioned. -------------------- --sbq92 <>< |

I'm trying to get a lot of rages in order to increase Gau's "repertoire" of Rage skills. I can't remember how many Rages I already have, but I'm too lazy to pull out my FFVI file and check. It's a decent amount already, but I have yet to get Stray Cat.
As for hard monsters on the Veldt, I think the only ones are the Io-like enemy first found in Kefka's Tower, White Drgn, Karkass and Woolly, and Pugs. As for useful rages, I've posted them before, and there was actually a Rages thread here eariler, that produced a well-written FAQ question suggestion in the FFVI FAQ: Suggest Questions thread at the top of this forum. i90east, I, and some other members contributed to this, so this post would be very helpful. -------------------- Check the "What games are you playing at the moment?" thread for updates on what I've been playing. I never leave the Veldt for the first time without the Bomb rage, the its Blaze skill is the strongest attack in the game at that point. Otherwise, White Dragon's probably the toughest.

Check out my documentation on this subject in the FAQ thread. It's the long post towards the bottom of the page.

I never liked Gau much until one time when i first got Gau the first battle with him on my team in the Veldt i had him leap in to stray cats and he learned a WAY powerful attack cat scratch which deal around 950 damage some times more and in the very begging of the game it creamed every one but once the guys starting getting tougher and cat scatch became less effective i gave up on Gau and never used him again....... poor Gau oh well he has Cyan to keep him company on that air ship
