I'm in the WoR, returning to Zozo (tried with varying party members) and the guy who warns me that the town is dangerous won't sell me Rust Rid! (He just continues to tell me it's dangerous and warns me not to jump between buildings.) Have I done something wrong?

If I remember correctly you need to go talk to Lola first, give that a shot.

She's in the town of Maranda, somewheres in the West part of the map, I believe.

Okay, so it wasn't that - I'd already talked to her, read Cyan's letter and agreed to send a reply via carrier pigeon. Does that get done automatically or is it something I have to actually do? Any thoughts?

Ahhhh, that was it! I'd agreed to send the letter but never "talked" to the pigeon so the letter never actually got sent. Thanks guys; this had been driving me crazy!
(Why a random stranger in a literal ghost town would offer to sell me an object based on whether a pigeon flew by with a letter is beyond me, but I guess that's video game logic for ya.) Moderator Edit Glad you got it sorted, but kindly don't double post in the future to tell us all. Nope, not automatic. Gotta "talk" to the pidgeon outside her house. It'll fly off to Zozo afterward.

As I recall I had the same problem quite a while back. If my memory serves me, the CoN guide doesn't remind the player to talk to the pidgeon. Not to be nitpicky or anything, but if it's tripped up two readers already, maybe it wouldn't hurt to add that bit in.
All in all I blame square for being so weird. Who honestly would think of talking to a bird that looks no different from the other bajillion birds that you've ignored througout the game? -------------------- TURKEY! - (The only way not to get blocked for using Fowl Language) |

I think the point is that the bird looks very outta place in Zozo given the fact it's the only one in town, and standing still as a statue by the entrance, no less. Dunno 'bout anyone else, but that has "talk to me/touch me/poke me/etc." written all over it.
And you're right, Ultros - the current CoN walkthrough doesn't mention making contact with the pigeon to proceed to Mt. Zozo. That's especially evident considering that I remember Elena having the same problem a while back, and she's definitely not one to neglect the guides here when stuck. ![]() This post has been edited by SilverFork on 3rd November 2005 07:00 -------------------- Words of Wisdom: If something can go wrong, it will. Agreed - I'll try to remember to make a mention of that to the author redoing that part of the walkthrough as I review it. -------------------- "To create something great, you need the means to make a lot of really bad crap." - Kevin Kelly Why aren't you shopping AmaCoN? |
