I will tend to agree with a previous post though, if you REALLY want to get technical, the King's death was first even though it's not shown....

I always thought KluYa died before the king.

Since this is a weird question, and Tone threw out the Mysidian mages, then my guess is those EvilEyes that attacked the Red Wings in the opening sequence.

If the key word in the question is PERSON to die, thus ruling out any random encounter enemies or the airship monsters, and the Mysidians aren't killed after all, then the only other thing I can think of would be Rydia's mother, killed when you kill her mist dragon. Unless I'm grossly missing something or tricked by the question, that's all I can think of...

I thought I had a real stumper there. Oh well, looks like it is your turn to ask a question imperialstooge. Here are all the reasons why nobody else got it, in no particular order. You know, just incase there are any doubts.:

• The mages guarding the water crystal just didn't die. I think that is made clear and simple by my post above. I was so relived when I first realized that too, they didn't deserve to die.

• The King of Baron and Klu-ya died probably before the game even started. My question was "Who is the first person to die during the couse of the game?" key word underlined. If there are any doubts about that, when did they die then?

• The FloatEyes did die before anybody else, they just aren't people. Is EvilEye what they are called in the PS X version or did DP make the common mistake of confusing a monster with one of its palete swaps?

• Anna did die fairly early in the game and she was the first named character to die. But the Grim Reaper took somebody else before her.

• It was Rydia's mother but The Celestial didn't say how she died. The last part of my question was "and how did they die?" The Celestial only got the question half right and that's why he didn't get the next question. Sorry, close but no cigar. Better luck next time.

I think when the explanation of your question includes the words "this probably happened," it might have been a dodgy question. But hey, that's just me.

I was trying to keep it short and simple R51. All I am saying is that Kluya and the King don't realy have listed times of death like the others do (IE after the attack at Dymacan). That means it is kinda debateable. I made sure to have logical reasons to rule them out before I asked the question though so here they are:

For the puposes of this question, I listed the King as dead as before the game started. That's because Kainazzo(Feind of Water) said he killed the King to take over Baron. Kainazzo said that he killed the king to get the nations power. He wanted the Nations power to help him find the crystals. Now, unless the King was under mind controll at the begining of the game, why would he seek the Water Crystal or any of the others? There is no mention in the game of the King being mind controlled but there is meniton of him being killed. The King of Baron had no motive to gather the Crystals, Kainazzo did. Using this logic, I will assume Kainazzo killed the king before the Red Wings went on their mission to find the Water Crystal. That would be before the game started and thus the King of Baron can be ruled out.

As for Kluya I just went with what was widely belived, as we don't know his actual time of death. If you want to get techinical though, here is an entirely different line of logic that can rule out Kluya:

Since I didn't know the exact time of Kluya's death, I had to make an assumption. One way of finding the assumed time of death of a person is when they are first found dead. Then you take outside factors that help prove when they die. The decay of a body is one such outside factor. (Of course we don't have acess to the body, I'm just using it as an example.) Since we only know that FoSoYa says that Kluya died and nothing else, we can't determin an accurate time of death. We can still make an assumption though. Since we don't have the outside factors nessicary, we just have to assume that Kluya died when the game first mentions it. That would be the first time you visit the Lunar Palace. Since that is near the end of the game, that would be after Rydia's Mother's death. Now even if you assume that the first time you see Kluya he's a ghost, that is still at Mount Ordeals. The point here being even though we don't know Kluya's exact time of death, we don't know that he died before Mt. Ordeals. That is well after the death of Rydia's mother and thus Kluya can be ruled out.

That being said most people I've talked to tend to belive that Kluya died before the game. Even if that is the case, Kluya would still be ruled out due to not meeting the conditions of the question. Either way he just isn't a viable answer. If anybody does have any evidence on when Kluya actualy died or if anybody just wants to discuss this post, don't hesitate to PM me. Don't worry, I don't bite biggrin.gif .

As it stands imperialstooge got the exact answer I was looking for so the question couldn't have been that shakey anyways. Imperialstooge is still up.

Finally came up with one...

There is an enemy in the game that has an attack that causes all negative status ailments upon the target. What is the enemy, where would you find it, and what is the name of the attack?

I've never played the PSX version, so there might be a name change, but I'll check all answers anyway to make sure (i.e., if it's the right monster, the name don't matta)

Marlboro....Bad Breath

Clearly this attack has been in many FF games, so I might have names wrong. It's possible it was called evil breath in FFIV.

Works for me. I still call them Molbols (haven't shelled out the cash for the anthology... emulators are f-r-e-e)

I won't be picky about the location, but for the record they're in the Sylvan Cave. Bring some Heal potions..

Your question Ancient

hahah I missed the location part of the answer and that was the only part that I was actually certain of. I actually loved that they put that in the game, it was so fun to get out of a battle and see that long list of status ailments next to your char's name. I also used to remove each ailment one at a time.
...
I had too much time on my hands as a child.

Anyway my question:
The people in Agart all have a similar feature that makes them different from the rest of the world. As such they deserve to be rediculed and humiliated. You can do that on your own time though, right here just list the feature that distinguishes them.

They are smaller then everybody else because they are the desendents of the Underground Dwarfs. Well, smaller then everybody, except for the people of Silvera. If I am right, the next question is up for grabs as par usual.

How many main characters (i.e. Cecil, Kain, Rydia, Tellah, Edward, Rosa, Yang, Palom, Porom, Cid, Edge, FuSoYa, and Golbez) don't have character themes, and who are they?

I'll accept two answer-sets, because one character doesn't quite have or not have a character theme.

Wow, such a difficult question. I never paied much attention to the themes' of each character but I've been looking forward to a new question. With that I'm going to guess 4/5:

• Tellah, I find it strange but I don't remember him having a theme. You would have heard one in the cave where you first met him if he did, right?

• FoSoYa, the lunar palace always sounded the the same to me.

• Palom and/or Porom, they share a theme so they sort of do and don't have a theme of their own.
all of the above in some way or another.

• Kain, I'm probably wrong about this but I'm basing it on the fact that I didn't remember him having one the first time you see him which is in Baron. I just did that part semi-recently for another question I asked a little while back.

Well, that's all I can say except that I remember Golbez having some sort of special music everytime you saw him. That may have just been some sort of theme for the general evil doers though. Speaking of evil and themes, why did the Calbrena get a theme? That has always confused me. You only fight them once and they aren't important to the story at all. Still, its a nice piece *Starts humming that slow, polka like tune.*.

I know the ones that DO have themes, and can't be bothered to deduce the others, so i will list the ones that do:

Cecil
rosa
rydia
edward
golbez (I don't know if this is right, so just to be safe I will post a link to it here
cid (see golbeze) here
palom/porom

all the other characters don't. for the record, there is a track called 'the lunarians', which seems to be a generic thing rather than specifically FuSoYa.

all credit goes to ffcompendium, and if I'm right it be up for grabs, as per usual

Awesome question.

Cecil doesn't exactly have a theme, does he? The only themes that play for him aren't exactly character specific- The Red Wings theme doesn't apply, The Prologue is just that, and then the other frequent themes (Main Theme, Airship Theme, Suspicion, and the Epilogue all are variations of the same theme.)

Kain's only "theme" is Suspicion during the time he's a traitor, but he's not the whole game.

Rydia does have a theme, one of the best in all of the FF games in my opinion.

Tellah does not have a theme.

Edward has a theme, "Melody of Lute," also quite nice.

Rosa has a theme ONLY in conjunction with Cecil, "Theme of Love." Grey area there, but I'll err on the side of giving her the theme since it does directly relate to her.

Yang DOES have a theme, the "Fabul" music. It does not only play in Fabul- if I remember correctly, it plays when you revive him in the Sylvan cave or somewhere. Might be wrong about that though....

Palom and Porom do have a theme, but they share it.

Cid does and it sucks.

Edge does not have a theme.

FuSoYa (still hate that name... paging Dr. Namingway...) I don't think does- the "Lunarians" theme which plays for him also plays in the Lunar Caves on the way to meet him and only plays on the moon, it doesn't follow him around as I recall.

Golbez does have a theme, "Golbeza, Clad in Dark."

So to review: Cecil, Kain, Tellah, Edge and FuSoYa don't. 1/2 themes for Rosa and Palom/Porom, so my final answer is 6 characters without themes (5 plus two 1/2s... maybe that doesn't make sense but I'm sticking to it.)

[It was a lot of fun busting out my FF4 mp3 collection to compile this, hat tip to ffdownloads.com]

I stick by my guns with cecil. reason: it says that the red wings theme is cecil's theme on the cd, and plus, it plays after cecil leaves the red wings, and whenever he is in the spotlight. I have my doubts about the fabul one though...

Okay, here it goes: I'm gonna refer to the track names and numbers as I have them in my FFIV spc set.

Cecil - 2. The Red Wings / 43. The Core
Kain - none
Rydia - 15. Rydia #1
Tellah - none
Edward - 18. Melody of Lute
Rosa - 4. Theme of Love
Yang - none (I was close to counting 20. Fabul, but that's a location theme, not a character theme)
Palom - 27. Palom and Porom
Porom - 27. Palom and Porom
Cid - 24. Hey, Cid!
Edge - none
FuSoYa - this is the 'grey' character: there exists 41. The Lunarians, but no track dedicated only to FuSoYa; however, you only meet two Lunarians, one of whom IS FuSoYa
Golbez - 23. Golbeza, Clad in Dark

Therefore: 4 characters don't have themes (Kain, Tellah, Yang, Edge); five if you count FuSoYa.

The first person to get an essentially correct answer was alphasmart. Congratulations! You have won the right to propose the next question, as well as 50 GP. *hands alphasmart 50GP*

IMPORTANT EDIT

I forgot to note that the track 43. The Core did not originally appear in the SPC set that I downloaded (most probably from Zophar.net). It was originally labeled as one of the two 'Dummy' tracks (the other of which is the 'magazine fanfare'); however, as I noted that that track, in that particular version, was actually used in the game, I renamed it to 'The Core'. As for the numbering, I can't remember whether I moved the numbers of everything else upward or if there was originally a space there for #43.

*looks at the 50GP received* 50gp? is that it?...never mind. I don't care anyway. all those were those I was referring to (and referred from) but as I have no question I put it up for grabs. or better yet, imperial stooge gets it, as he actually put some effort into writing.

on a side note, why did you list the core as a cecil theme GMH? it seems strange. but then I seem strange. never mind.
