I did just the opposite. Beat it my first time without taking the time to explore anything. I was at level 40 at the time...Needless to say my battle with Balk was difficult!!!

I think I've beaten FFT about 6 times, and played through most of it another 3 times.

Im only about level 45 - 50 when im near the end and Balk is insanley difficult. Hell, without Cid i'd be killed so quick, but in the end it was Worker 8 shooting from across the screen that finishes most of my ending battles.

Worker 8 wasn't even in my party. My first playthrough I only had Agrias, Orlandu and Mustadio as special characters.

i was only about oh level 38 when i first beat the game... that battle with balk took me (no joke) 3 months to beat, i only won when agrias (a lancer at the time with javelinII) jump'd and then the next turn i had beowulf use shock! for about 400 damage, i only barely won too.... needless to say the next time through i was about level 80

oh and worker 8 rules, with dispose and his 00 faith... he was and still is the best and most balanced special character

I have gone through the game to the very end more times than I have fingers but evertime something happens to my game...either it gets lost or broken or stolen so I just gave up...I never went all the way to the end...I've just got right there.

Edit
I have seen the game beaten...a friend of mine beat it one night while I was up late talking to him, as aresult of seeing it beat I don't really have any desire anymore to finish it myself

I always seem to break down and work levels up for endless periods of time. I had 99 before chapter three. Working up levels in FT was easiest since no matter how quickly you level up in the game the enemys in the next battle (not progressing the game) are at your level. I would kill all but one enemy and have everyone sit around one of my monks and beat the heck out of him. Then hjis turn he would cast chakra. You can work levels up easy as heck and walk through the last two chapters if you want this way. cool.gif

I don't power-level that often. The only example I can think of is getting to level 88 before Sand Rat Cellar trying to prove a rumor.

I don't find beating the game very fun, really. I do it for reference but other than that I just master classes.

I'm strange. I hate levels. I am adamant against power leveling in games. As a result, I usually beat RPGs at approximately level 50.

FFT was fun. The final boss was really ridiculously weak, though; however, I guess Orlandu with Excalibur wasn't exactly fair on my part.
